The actual communication from Meelie Mobile was polite and responses were reasonably quick, so I cannot fault the customer service staff themselves. However, the overall experience became very disappointing because of the fine print around “non-EU” devices.
I sent in a Samsung phone purchased in Poland, so naturally I assumed it qualified as an EU device. Only after they received it was I told it was considered “non-EU” because it had apparently been manufactured outside Europe.
The issue is that no normal customer would realistically know this distinction beforehand, and the website does not provide any clear guidance on how to check whether a device qualifies. There is no IMEI checker, no list of affected models, and no explanation that manufacturing location, rather than where the phone was officially sold, is what determines eligibility.
To make matters worse, they then demanded a £35 fee just to return my own device, despite the phone only being valued at £20. I even offered to provide my own prepaid tracked return label, but this was refused.
I have used several other trade-in providers before and none of them charged a fee simply to return an unaccepted device. Most either return the item free of charge or only charge standard postage costs.
While the service initially seemed straightforward, the hidden conditions and excessive return fee left a very poor impression overall. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I would recommend using other trade-in providers instead.

Extortion at best!
Sent in my Non-Eu (US) version Samsung galaxy phone via the prepaid label. When filling in the form to send via the compareandrecycle website there was no mention about them not accepting non-EU models. This was hidden in their Terms and conditions. So obviously my phone was rejected. But am not happy to have paid a £35 "handling fee" to have it returned. I had sent it in with a screen protector and a case. It was returned to me without either. There was no alternative for the handling fee and felt like I was held to ransom and had to pay the £35 fee to get my phone back. This when compareandrecycle says there is no return fee for them. The alternative to the fee being them having my Phone for free. I understand paying the return postage but the fee is down right extortionate! Absolute thugs!
I've had about 6 phones recycled over the years with different recyclers and had a couple of them returned by paying the return postage but never been charged a fee. Disgusting practice. Avoid at all cost!

Non-EU devices (including US models) are flagged as non-eligible, and this is highlighted during the order process and in our terms, along with an email sent after order creation advising customers not to send restricted devices.
In cases where a device is returned, a handling/return fee is applied to cover inspection and logistics costs. Our terms also advise that we cannot guarantee the return of accessories, and screen protectors are removed as part of the assessment process to ensure the device condition is checked accurately.

Just recently sold a Samsung Galaxy S25…
Just recently sold a Samsung Galaxy S25 to meelie mobile.
The phone has a screen protector on since day one and had a back casing than never came off so there is no chance of any visible marks.
I was told £300 which I agreed to but after the "inspection" I was offered £170 .
As it took so long (4 days) to give me the offer and with all the waiting I reluctantly accepted the offer as I sold the phone as I needed the money but I wont be using meelie mobile again as I feel that there isn't a possibility the screen had a scratch. It was immaculate. I know I'm going to get a reply saying "this is done under CCTV" but I stick by my comment.

“Finally, a Trade-In Company That Pays the Price They Promise”
First time I have used Meelie, but I’ve had bad experiences with other companies in the past who offer the highest possible quote, only to later “find” problems with your device and reduce the offer.
I posted my device to Meelie on 13/05/2026 and they received it on 14/05/2026, I paid extra for Royal Mail Special Delivery.
10:44am – Email received confirming my device had been booked into their warehouse.
14:38pm – Email received requesting proof of ID.
14:48pm – Email received confirming my ID had been accepted.
14:54pm – Email received advising my device had been accepted and queued for payment.
16:07pm – Email received confirming full payment had been sent.
Perfect experience from start to finish. No hassle, no attempts to haggle the price down, and same-day service once received. Would definitely use Meelie again.

Good Experience
I sent my phone on Thursday morning with the prepaid label and it was delivered to them by Saturday. They requested my ID on Monday which I uploaded and I was paid the Tuesday. Good service and your kept updated I got the amount agreed and it wasn’t reduced or counterfeited so all in all I’m pleased I would use them again and they offered a pretty decent price compared to some companies. Only one thing Thought I would have been paid on the Monday although they do say within one day. So can’t complain really. Great job MeelieMobile

Dubious crack on camera after sending
Used mobile sent in as this company offered the best price online, I cleaned and thoroughly checked the phone before sending. Recieved an email with a picture of a large crack on the camera lens, and a revised offer of £10 from £96. Perfect pictures had been taken with the phone immediately prior to sending. Please beware and take pictures of your items before you send them, lesson learned.

I won't sell to them again
PLEASE STAY AWAY!!! I won't sell to them again, phone received in impeccable condition, they sent a photo back to me showing flimsy dirt only to deduct £100 from original agreed price. I had no choice as I was really in need of the money to pay some Emergency expenses. Something was dodgy in my opinion. I will advise against if you are desperate for cash!!!
