Normally, I don’t jump straight to blasting a business publicly. I try to handle things the right way first. But this situation earned every bit of this review.
I brought my Mercedes GL63 AMG to the Mavis Tire location in Riverhead, NY for a balance, rotation, and alignment while I was in town for work. I stay on top of my maintenance, and I don’t cut corners.
Almost immediately after the service, the vehicle didn’t feel right. It became unstable at highway speeds—tracking grooves, overly sensitive to wind, and just generally unsafe compared to how it should drive. I attempted to get back to the shop, but my schedule didn’t allow it before I had to drive back to Georgia.
That drive home caused real damage.
By the time I got back, my rear tires were completely destroyed, and there was excessive wear and stress on rear suspension components. I took the vehicle straight to my trusted shop in Georgia, and the alignment report made everything clear.
The specs from the Riverhead Mavis location were way off:
* Rear toe significantly out of spec
* Front alignment improperly set
* The vehicle was essentially fighting itself the entire drive
This wasn’t a minor mistake—this was a bad alignment that should never have left the shop. I’ve attached the before-and-after alignment sheets, and the difference speaks for itself.
Because of this, I’m now out:
* $800 in tires
* $600+ in suspension components
* Plus time, stress, and the safety risk of driving a poorly aligned vehicle hundreds of miles
To make matters worse, the balance they performed didn’t even last more than a few days.
And here’s the part that’s just as frustrating as the damage:
I’ve made multiple attempts to resolve this directly.
* Called the store — got nowhere
* Emailed corporate multiple times — no response
* Reached out through social media just to get a contact number
* Called that number several times and was told a regional manager would contact me
I have yet to receive a single call or email back.
At this point, it’s not just about the poor workmanship—it’s about the complete lack of accountability.
This isn’t just inconvenient. This is a safety issue and a quality control failure, followed by zero follow-up.
If you value your vehicle, especially something performance-oriented, I would strongly reconsider using Mavis.

I went in to get 4 new tires and the manager Larrietta was AMAZING!! She helped me with amazing prices and helped include our package with so many other amazing offers too! She was so helpful Just how thorough she was walking me thru everything as well 😊 my aunt needs tires and I’ve already referred her to NBT in Streetsboro Ohio to do her tires! Overall my experience was great with the exception of one employee, Josh. I had a scheduled appointment to arrive last Saturday at 9am for 4 tires to be installed after ordering them a week prior with Jerry.
I arrived and was greeted by Josh with “Who are you? Do you have an appointment?!” I was taken back but replied “Yes and gave my name” Defensively Josh responded “Well how would I know? Can you give me your keys?”
I sat in the lobby, Chris kindly came out to let me know that they had started and the wait would be a little over an hour which exceeded my expectations. When finished, Josh came out, called me to the computer and told me what I owed. I proceeded to ask about the rebate and he put his finger close enough to my face that it made me uncomfortable and said “PAUSE! Wait for me to explain and you will see that you’re getting a good deal!” This is the second time I’ve encountered rudeness with him. I attributed the first time to a bad day. Now I’m thinking he is probably not cut out for a customer service role.
