I placed an order for two items in the Masai sale. As I live in Northern Ireland, I used a friend’s address in Ireland. Masai won’t post items to Northern Ireland. I recieved a tracking notice that the item had been delivered.
It had not.
I then recieved a notice from Masai that my returned items had been recieved and my refund would sent to my bank account.
In spite on sending emails stating I had neither recieved nor returned these items and that I still wanted to purchase the clothing, the money was returned to my account today.
Masai never responded to my emails apart from an automated response.
I then remembered this happened last year!
So much for their sale!

Questionable trading terms

I joined Masai’s mailing list in order to receive a Welcome discount code which entitled me to a 10% reduction. The code was received in my inbox on 1 June at 18.21 and I tried to use it. I got a message in red at the top of my order saying it was not applicable against my purchases. I checked the terms on the website and in the email and nowhere did the code say only applicable against certain purchases.
I tried to phone Masai but their phones were closed until Monday 6 June because of the Jubilee weekend. I tried repeatedly to use the code and gave up. At 18.35 I wrote an email saying your code doesn’t work. I have never had a response to that email, other than an acknowledgement it was received. At 5.25am on 3 June I got a message saying had I forgotten to buy the items in my inbox. At 2pm that day I decided to order £875 worth of clothes because I was afraid over the weekend the items I wanted would sell out, which did actually prove to be the case.
On the 5 June after I had made my first order, I got a reminder to use my welcome discount. In the absence of a reply from Masai on the Monday.6 June at 18.12 I attempted to use the discount code, to purchase a raincoat. I did not realize it was same welcome code and of course this time the code worked.
I have exchanged phone calls and emails with Sean who told me the code was only valid for a first purchase and in spite of repeating myself that their system had not allowed me to use it for my first purchase he was not going to budge move the discount.
I feel that the offer is not genuine, perhaps they are protecting their income and prevent it working on a large order like mine, or maybe the discount only applied on certain items, no reason was given to me as to why it didn’t work. I feel swizzed by their actions. I am especially upset when Sean says it is only applicable to a first order, how many times do I have to say the code did not work so I couldn’t apply it to a first order.
I can’t comment on the clothes I haven’t worn them yet.
Purchasers beware and if you receive a welcome code which doesn’t work on your first purchase please post here. Thank you.
