I've been learning from Marisa for the past six months or so, and I highly recommend her. In that time, she has been nothing short of amazing!
Marisa is incredibly experienced, kind, and patient, with a real talent for spotting what you need and explaining it in a way that clicks. She’s helped me figure out proper technique, fill in my theory “blank spots,” and approach the piano, and music in general, with confidence.
Marisa is also very flexible and funny, and makes every lesson something I genuinely look forward to. I always leave class feeling inspired, motivated, and like I’ve actually made progress. Very grateful to be learning from her!

I’ve been involved in music and playing a different instrument for over 25 years, and in all that time, I’ve never come across a teacher as talented, intelligent, hardworking, and genuinely uplifting as Marisa.
She has an extraordinary ability to unlock your true potential. Remarkably, she seems to understand your learning pace even better than you do—making the learning journey not just productive, but also incredibly enjoyable.
Her guidance is always clear, precise, and thoughtfully tailored. With each lesson, you feel yourself improving. The only thing left is how much effort you put into practicing on your own.
Marisa is a rare gem in music education, and I feel lucky to be working with her.

After retiring and moving to Lisbon in April 2025, I decided to finally pursue a lifelong dream: learning to play the piano. I found Marisa, and from the very first lesson, I knew I was in the right hands.
Having never played before, I started from absolute zero. But Marisa’s patient, encouraging, and clear teaching style made each lesson something I truly looked forward to. She explains things in a way that just clicks—and she makes learning fun and inspiring.
Now, just four months in, I’m able to play some truly beautiful music with both hands and read sheet music with confidence. I never imagined I could make this kind of progress in such a short time.
If you’re thinking about starting piano - at any age or experience level - I can’t recommend Marisa enough. She’s a gifted teacher and a wonderful human being. I’m so grateful to be learning from her.

Marisa is a dedicated, kind, and encouraging teacher. I returned to piano after being away for over two decades (I was classically trained). Marisa was to be attuned to my style, approach and curious to understand how I wanted to re-orient and progress as a learner. Immediately, she was able to provide nuanced advice and guidance that brought out pieces that I was playing - a Chopin Nocturne, a Liszt Consolation - that elevated my playing and understanding. I am greatly appreciative for Marisa's expertise and commitment to creating engaging musical experiences that encourage her students to grow and learn. Muito obrigada!

I highly recommend Marisa as a piano teacher. She is incredibly professional, patient, and demanding in the best possible way. With one lesson per week over 5 months, she helped me go from not having played piano in 10 years to performing at my sister’s wedding in front of 200 guests. Her clear, focused, and encouraging teaching style helped me regain both confidence and technique. It was an amazing journey!

Marisa has been my teacher for possibly more than 5 years already, and she’s even helped me with my school performances for my music exams last year. She is an amazing, experienced piano teacher that knows the best way to teach people or all ages and all levels. I have an amazing relationship with her and she is so kind. I’m always excited to go have lessons and I learn to play many pieces with her each year. I left my music academy to learn with her and it has been a much more fun and comfortable experience. I definitely recommend her as a piano teacher to anyone!

Marisa is a fantastic teacher! One of the key points for me was recovering motivation for studying at home which was difficult when I did not quite know what to do to improve my playing. With Marisa, this is not a problem any more, as she explains exactly how to learn and how to approach the most difficult parts. In just a few months, playing the piano at home has become a pleasure for me, and I can see real progress.

I’ve been learning piano as an adult for about a year now, and working with her has been a genuinely positive experience. One of the best things about her is that she has this confidence in your abilities, even when you’re butchering a piece, and that somehow makes you believe in yourself too!
She’s sharp at noticing what’s not quite right, even the small things you hoped you were getting away with. But instead of just pointing it out, she’ll come up with targeted exercises to help fix it, and always explains things in a way that actually makes sense for you.
As an adult learner, I really appreciate that she respects what I want to take out of the lessons. She’s not overly rigid with method books or some fixed idea of how things “should” go. She adapts to what I like, where I’m at, and what motivates me—while still being demanding in terms of technique and musicality. It’s positive, flexible teaching, and it works perfectly for me.
She’s adaptable, patient, and knows how to work with your learning style, which is greatly appreciated when your brain decides to short-circuit mid-lesson. Plus, she’s funny, relaxed, and always in a good mood, so basically the opposite of the scary piano teacher stereotype.
I truly feel lucky to have randomly found her page on Instagram, and I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone, at any level, who wants to learn piano in a supportive, thoughtful, and inspiring environment.
