Disappointing
Pre-purchase inspection report. "Bilge bulkhead was solid but showed some hairline cracks in the resin"
I could put my finger through the hairline cracks! Boat needs a haul out, rigging relaxed, fibreglassing ...
It didn't take me long to realise the whole boat had a very slight lean - saloon door not square, internal door binding. I'm not a professional, qualified boat surveyor but if I can work that out myself and the professional can't then who needs a professional like that?
Sea trail clearly didn't include hoisting sails or checking dingy - latter obvious because an electric winch was ceased and the winch could be used manually because of poor placement of BBQ. Sails had reef line over mast car above so couldn't be hoisted. Dingy needed work to get motor running. The rigging was a shambles and number of new lines needed.
The list of missed but important (and expensive) points goes on. My costs since survey have far exceed the survey, which in hindsight was a waste of money!
Real shame. Have offered to meet Shelvin for a beer (before I realised my misplaced trust) but no show. Sounds like a lovely guy but afraid I'm thoroughly disappointed in his ability to do a decent job on boat survey.
Survey was thorough but not good - list of items just not insightful value.
