Worst support ever!!! Run away from this company fast.
I’m going to cut to the chase. The customer support is the worst I’ve felt with in my 46 years. Everyone you speak to has a buffet answer to the same question. They will continue to transfer you without you knowing. When you make a request they mess it up only to find out days later. Then when you realize they have made such mistakes they tell you we will put it to an investigation to find out why this happened. They admit guilt but can’t problem solve or fishing correcting the mistake. They need to go to an investigation that takes 10 days. This truly the worst institution I’ve ever dealt with. We know big banks….. can be difficult but this particular bank is down right terrible.
If I could give negative stats I would.
Stay away they are really bad.

Opened a High Yield Savings account and was enrolled in their promotional offers including higher APY % and $100 sign-on bonus for maintaining an account balance of $10,000 for 90 days. Met the requirements and Marcus refused to credit my account with the $100 stating that I did not enroll properly, despite acknowledging my call in February ‘23 to ensure I had properly enrolled into the promo offers as described. Given my experience, I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. I recommend finding a better HYSA option than Marcus given their dishonesty.

So I worked for this company on the electrical side. I got the vibe one of the women didn’t like me and I was correct ✅ after a week of working there I was starting to get left out of things such as sandwich orders etc. Then then the other lady her colleague stopped talking to me or even helping me. The manager chose to ignore it all and low and behold they let me go the next week. Do not work for this company they are all very clicky 😊 just to add these ladies were a lot older than me but acted like school bullies 🤦♀️
Lock account without prior notice
Lock account without prior notice and lying to customer!!!
I filed some complaints on BBB. The bank replied and said on 08/10 they will close my account and transfer my money but didn't receive my call backs on Aug 8 and Aug 9 so they cannot proceed. However, this is not the truth.
The bank is lying to customers. I did receive emails regarding calling back to the bank, and I called back.
On Aug 8, someone claimed to be a supervisor refused to close my account and denied the fact that I have requested to change my address in my previous calls. However, on 06/21, I have requested to send AOI to my new address. I told her I reached an agreement with the bank to close my account on 08/04, and I even agreed to the verbal statements of closing account. But she still rejected the facts.
08/09, I called again, a Rachel in fraud department answered my call. Rachel refused to tell me anything regarding my account (including when will the AOI be sent out) and also rejected to look into my issue. I made zero progress in this call too.
The bank is not resolving my issue as they said!!! I did call back but none of the people answered the phone proceeded to close my account, which is in the contrary to their replies on BBB. They are lying!!!! I've attached my records of calling the bank on 08/08 and 08/09.
Very bad customer service
I used Instant link within this app to link a external US Wise account. Everything was ok until Marcus locked my account (no login possible) and denied any payment using my saving accounts. I did not received any notification for all of this. I discovered it when UMass notified me payment was refused. Even after they unlock my account (they locked by mistake), the problem cannot being solved by the chat; I’ve to call them. There is no way to receive a transcript of your exchanges, and they are telling something different every time you call. No way to send certified pdf or attachments by chat, only by paper and mail.
I called them several time. First, they said they want to verify that it’s a personal account. I did everything they asked but my account it’s still under review. Each time I called, they pushed the delay by 2-3 business days. After the first call, they were supposed to unlock after they removed the US wise external account ; but they forgot and this caused me a lot of trouble. I asked several times to be call by a supervisor after all these miscommunication/mistakes by Marcus. I never received a call. After 4 weeks, I’m still not able to transfer money to my external account, and loosing 1 hour every other day to check the status.
In comparison, linking this external account went fine with Bank of America app within 20 seconds (not 4 weeks). With BofA, a lot of issues can be solved by chat without loosing time listening to Jazz music during 30min.
Looking at all review, it seems all customers are leaving bad reviews started since Nov 2022.
from such big name you would expect all-rounded-product
from such a big name, you would expect some decent service in ISA.
I had ISA with Marcus, it took me half a year or so to transfer out, for whatever reason, it wasn't good, at some point I had to call both banks and make them talk.
on top of that, Marcus seems to make so much fuss about advertisement - and ISA even if you want to move to them they do not accept transfers in.
if you have ISA with them, their ISAs are not 'flexible'.
their ISA relatively good rate, but not market-leading
they have an app, unlike other investment bank-backed products, so this is good.
they process payments relatively quickly which is good as well.
however, not being able to transfer ISA in, is very very strange.
but they rate now behind .3-.5% of the market leader, I only hold there like 1 GBP or so, to keep it open, in the hope they will be back on the market with something very good,
Idk why I’m seeing such poor reviews
Idk why I’m seeing such poor reviews of Marcus. I personally love Marcus because it has a very very high APY% for its savings account. I have many savings accounts and this is the one that always increases first. Definitely worth it if you want to use it as a savings account.
marcus is the worst credit company

Treat your Marcus account like a CD or…
Treat your Marcus account like a CD or retirement acct. Do not treat this acct like an actual savings acct. If you need to transfer or wire money to external accts do so well in advance (greater than 1 week). Attempted to wire money into an escrow acct for a down payment for a home. Took 4 days and 10hrs on the phone with multiple representatives who all had different courses of actions I should take.
Worse than horrific, stressful, nightmare
They locked my entire account and resfuse to unlock it, without a reason. As simple as that. All my money is in that account, what is this nonsense?
MARCUS & me
We have been locked out of our account for 25 days. Repeated support calls (16 hours over 12+ calls, spending ~15 hours on hold) yield no results. Filed a formal complaint with the CFPB. Avoid at ALL costs! Protect your money.
Do NOT Use - You Will Be Locked Out
Savings Account Locked.
My savings account has been locked for 2 weeks. Customer service gives me a 3+ business day call back time each time I call. I was not notified of the lock and was never given a reason for it. The account has been locked for 15 days today and I submitted a notarized affidavit 7 days ago.
Edit: My account was unlocked 20 days after the lock. No illegitimate activity occurred on my account; the reason for the lock was a transfer I made to an outside bank account that I had made two times prior. Do not use this bank. They kept me from my savings for ovet two months and I was finally able to close the account. Unacceptable.
They prevent access to your own money
They repeatedly reversed large outgoing transfers to other banking institutions over two years of various transactions. They offer decent savings rates, but they prevent you from withdrawing your money in a timely manner. Their CSR outright LIED to me stating that they "do not allow transfers to outside financial institutions." What the heck? So your money is allowed in, but you can't ever transfer it out?! This occurred with outside accounts set up and verified from within my Marcus account and from external accounts, so it didn't matter if the money was "pushed" or "pulled" from the other accounts. They even reversed transactions to an outside bank account that was originally established with funds transferred from the Marcus account over a month earlier. Stay far away. You have been warned.
The website and app looks nice
The website and app looks nice, but one would think with their name, it would over a better Interest Rate and APY than it does compared to other banks.
For instance, Newtek Bank, Primis Bank and even Lending Club offers a much better interest rate than Macrus by Goldman Sachs does. With such a trusted name, gives so little to the people who save money with them .
Online service is screwed up
Tried to open a CD online as their rates are the best. They said they sent me a 6 digit code to continue. No code came despite 4 requests. (Not in spam, not anywhere. )They told me to wait 30mins. I waited over two hours but no code came. It said my account was locked. I called back five times. Each time got confusing and confused 'specialist'. I gave up at that point and went to another place for the CD.
Don't let the high interest lure you.
They make it so easy to deposit, but place a lot of obstacles for you to gain access to your own money. Since the online platform is limited, you reach out to speak to a rep. Very frustrating so when you call, they tell you need to refer to a "back office" person. Takes a great amount of your time, only to end the call with your issue unresolved.
Can't get your money out once you put it in there
I had opened a money market savings account well over a year ago and never had any trouble putting money in. This week, I had to make two transfers out in order to pay my taxes and they locked my account. After sitting on hold for well over 30 minutes on two separate occasions, I am still unable to get MY $80,000 out of MY account.

US citizen with account opened in US. Travel all the time. Can't login to accounts while overseas. Just stupid
Terrible company
Terrible company! So easy to deposit but almost impossible to transfer out to a land bank. I’ve read this in many reviews now that I’m having trouble. Customer Service rep can’t help. Only back office knows what they are doing and no communication with them. Every time I call - someone will get back with me in 1 to 3 business days. We are going on 7 days and my online log in shows my accounts closed but they haven’t wired the money and no one will return my call. This bank is a scam of a company.
Good rates but lousy service
I've had a Marcus account for about a year, and I've had to contact customer service on a few occasions. Most recently it was due to an error message while in the middle of an online transfer - this is a common problem.
It's always the same story: indifferent (bordering on hostile) customer service reps who don't even bother to listen to me as I explain my issue. They talk over me, the phone connections are so bad I often wonder if they can even hear me, and in general, treat me as if I am an annoyance they are only too eager to be rid of. They have never resolved an issue for me, and I always end up waiting a few days and then checking both my Marcus account and my bank account to see if I have to initiate the transfer again.
I understand that for people who probably deal in millions of dollars' worth of transactions every day,
my measly $10 or $20K transfers are insignificant, but they are very big deal to me, and when I get an error message in the middle of a transfer, I'd like to know what happened to my money.
My issues have been minor thus far - mostly technical support issues - but it really makes me wonder what would happen if I had a serious issue.
I gave them 2 stars because they do have good rates, and when things go well I have no complaints.
