Joined Bridgend ManvFat in 2025 and from the get go, the coaches were incredibly supportive. A cracking bunch of lads made me feel welcomed right away! I've consistently lost weight as a result of... See more

Great concept and very rewarding
Great concept and very rewarding. My wife signed me up because she wanted me to lose my "dad bod". The idea of mixing weight loss with footy is brilliant. The games are competitive but friendly and you can win goals for weightloss which is a real incentive. You can also meet local lads from the area.
Motivational Man vs Fat
Man vs Fat has given me the motivation to lose weight and become healthier. Its the first time I have actually given weight loss and fitness a real go without quitting after a few weeks, this is mainly down to group of mates I have made along the way and the support network that is available.
Definitely recommend this to anyone out there that loves football and wants to get fit such a great idea.
1 year in and better than all my expectations
I’ve been doing it for just over a year and I never thought I’d be able to play football again because I would never be in good enough shape. I hadn’t played for 20 years and on week 1 lasted about 10 minutes before I needed a break. A year on I can run around for the whole game have lost weight and found a great group of guys trying to achieve the same thing and support each other. The staff are very supportive too and provide additional motivation. Each week one of my team mates asked if I’m down (lost weight) and we celebrate every win on and off the pitch. We have a diverse group from people that never played before to some decent players but the focus is always on doing your best and effort to lose weight and be healthy rather than winning (though it’s great when we win)
Fantastic idea
Fantastic idea. Working for me after only couple of weeks.
Fantastic members and amazing staff
Have met many friends and improved my…
Have met many friends and improved my weight a lot and started a mid week football match amongst other man v fat players all because of this initiative. I hadn’t played football since I was a child and this got me into it and now I love playing with ex MvF players and friends etc
An ideal program for men!
An ideal program for men wanting to lose or maintain weight, feel more confident in themselves and work on social anxiety. The football is a great way to get involved and creates accountability for weight loss without it feeling like a chore because if you lose weight you know you’re helping your team to score another goal in the fixture that week. They even have 24/7 online support with nutrition and home workouts incase you can’t attend a session or if you want to do more exercise. Couldn’t recommend it more!
I've been going solidly for a year now…
I've been going solidly for a year now and I have really enjoyed my time. There is a great comradery between the players and friends have been made. I think MvF is a great idea for men to lose weight along with building a support network around themselves.
Not the best for football or weight…
Not the best for football or weight loss. I signed up on the Wednesday had a team and a game by Friday. I turned up and received no information no diet book I did not get my waist measured like they said its a simple just turn up and play.
They have changed it to 7 a side now which means we have players at the back just walking around so less fitness. After my first game I walked home thinking is £28 a month for about 8 minutes a week off football really worth it. I would be better off joing the gym and getting a group of lads to join a normal 5 a side company with actual rules and refs.
Could be really good
Could be really good, but just poorly executed. Game time is limited, and I don’t really feel there has been anything offered that I have benefited from. There are also some “characters” who seem to have started running parts of it, and they are unprofessional, and at time damningly inappropriate in group chats. It’s just off putting when you’re trying to better yourself.
There are cheaper ways to play football and lose weight, unfortunately.
Man V Fat changed my life and…
Man V Fat changed my life and introduced me to people I now call family. It’s great for making yourself accountable to others and lose weight. I had lost just shy of 20% of my body weight (put some on due to personal reasons)
My mental health has improved so much since doing Man V Fat, there is a massive sense of of such community. MVF has brought so many walks of life together and got us men talking.
It's been life changing for me
It's been life changing for me.
People in my league are top brilliant, from the coach, facilitators and players, always helpful and encouraging.
I feel 10 years younger and can honestly say, without tge help and support of the community mvf offers I'd be in a worse place.
I've been a member of MvF in Salford…
I've been a member of MvF in Salford since its inception in 2017, I have loved my time with MvF, losing nearly 20% of my body weight. I have made some amazing friends, the support I've had from the coaches that we've had is excellent. I see a lot of complaints that it's expensive and you only play 28 minutes of football a week. There's other resources that MvF offer and promote through the program.
If you compare it to other well known weight loss programs, it's value for money as you get the weekly weigh in and play football too!
I'm a massive advocate of the program and always recommend it to anyone that wants to lose weight, have fun and make new friends!
Great to be part of this community
Great to be part of this community. Been attending the sessions for a few years now and they are a brilliant way to improve your physical and mental health. Not a fan of the gym but love having a kick around with like minded people with similar aims.
Good community within the league at…
Good community within the league at Salford, lots of people organising extra games, if your focus is on weight not the football as it should be then it's a good set encouraging you to track what you eat and lose weight each week, I don't use the website or extra resources however
Great experience playing with Salford…
Great experience playing with Salford man v fat amazing people very caring and understanding wouldn’t change on of them
Fantastic
Would especially recommend to someone looking to get back or just into football in general, a fantastic gateway into making new mates to play with, with the added motivation to lose weight. Fantastic community, 10/10
I've been a member for nearly 5 years
I've been a member for nearly 5 years. I've lost weight. I've made friends. I've played good levels of football and have made connections to other games as well as the 11s leagues. There are some issues with low-margin, not-for-profit models and as such there are sometimes niggles but these do not reflect anything other than an organisation trying to do its best.
Great experience great idea!
I joined my local league at the point of inception. Being new to the area and post Covid I thought it was the perfect way to meet people and shift some weight.
I have to say it’s been amazing. Met a great group of lads that understand everyone plays at a different pace. That being said there is still a competitive nature to the league.
110% recommend for anyone looking to come out of their shell and get active!
Well organised
Well organised, great bunch of guys, good football played without the crunching tackles.
Highly recommend as you are a long time retired!!
