My Family member died 56 days ago her life insurance policy Manhattan Life she has had for years has not paid yet and they are still taking the money out of her bank account. They need to be ashamed of themselves. Cheating senior citizens in this way. I have called a hundred times. They lie each time. I have tried to wait it out.Has got ridiculous. I will be call the government insurance commissioner and file a complaint.

The ABSOLUTE WORST insurance company…

The ABSOLUTE WORST insurance company out there. They lie, they don’t respond to claims submissions and take their time and don’t answer their claims. I ended up reporting them to the IDOI and then I have an attorney that wants to file a class action against them after I take them to court. There has to be others who’ve gone thru this. Class action is the only way to stop this.

Raised premium by 50% in a year

I signed up with a standard/reasonable premium rate in 2025 for my supplemental medicare plan - one year later, I get a bill in the mail that says my premium will be increasing by 50%!!!!!!!!!

If you want a company that will lie to you about their premiums to get you to sign up, and then as soon as your first year is up, raise the monthly premium by FIFTY PERCENT, you found it.

Do not trust Manhattan Life Insurance

I have been trying to receive payment on my policy since October 9, and the entire process has been nothing but repeated requests for the same medical records over and over again, with no real progress or meaningful assistance. The representatives have been largely unhelpful, and one representative, Jessica, was especially rude and dismissive during our interaction. Despite it being clearly documented that I have been off work and unpaid since October 9, there was no effort to offer help, solutions, or temporary relief regarding monthly premiums. Instead, I was repeatedly told I was still required to make payments, even though I have been actively and consistently trying day in and day out to receive the benefits owed to me under this policy. This experience has been frustrating, stressful, and extremely disappointing. I’m still in this battle even to this day 12/16/25.

FRAUDULENT

Have had bank drafts paid to this fraudulent company only to receive nothing in return. I canceled my policy, asked for a refund of monies paid, was told only last payment would be refunded within (10) days. It took only a minute to pull the money from my bank account, but (10) days for a refund. Scam, fraudulent, untruthful people and company. Be sure to stop payment at your bank also. It's truly sad for hard working people in need to have to put up with these (Liars). Perry Jones. First and last time policy holder!!!!

Stay Far, Far Away

I had a terrible experience with this company. To make a long story short, they pulled an unauthorized payment from me...not once, but twice. I demanded an immediate cancellation of my policy and a refund.

Their complaint and refund process is so antiquated, they told me it takes 10 DAYS to process a refund, and then they MAIL you a CHECK. Taking out the money from my account took only minutes, of course.

I have now racked up hundreds of dollars in overdraft and NSF fees with my bank because of automatic payments that came out the same day as their withdrawal. Their stupid check will arrive too late to help, of course, but they don't care. Repeated calls will get you NOWHERE.

Their customer service reps are patient and helpful, and none of this is their fault. They just work for a company with horrible anti-customer policies. Bottom line: Stay far, far away from this terrible company, and do not ever give them your banking or ACH information.
