Updated Response:
Dear Tracie,
We have now replied to your numerous emails claiming that Malmo flooring is faulty, but to reiterate – we are aware of your complaint and know that it has been thoroughly investigated by an independent flooring inspector. We believe you have already received this report and in summary, the failure of the floor is because of both installation and ongoing maintenance not being conducted in accordance with the instructions. Specific examples include:
• Insufficient subfloor preparation, resulting in undulations greater than 2mm within a 2m area.
• Very small spacing between header joints (30-60mm – this should be a minimum 150mm).
• Use of a steam cleaner.
Malmo offer plenty of resources to support installation for our Rigid Click flooring and to help avoid invalidating your warranty especially the issues highlighted above including a set of installation instructions in every pack of flooring, online downloads of said instructions, and FAQs pointing you to the right document for support should you need further guidance on cleaning, subfloor preparations and advice on if this is the right flooring for you.

We are also aware that you have raised complaints with SCS the place of purchase, the Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman (FHIO), and the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) – none of which have upheld your claims for the above reasons.
To confirm there is no manufacturing fault with the flooring, the issues you have are due to poor subfloor preparation, poor installation and the use of non-advised cleaning and maintenance.
Regards,
Malmo / IDS

Hi Tracie,
As we said in our response to your google review you have stated that your flooring “cracks peels and scratches and splits”. Usually, this is a result of the flooring being installed incorrectly (for example not leaving expansion gaps around the perimeter of the room and/or fixed furniture such as kitchen cabinetry), along with incorrect maintenance products and /or procedures.
Upon receipt of your complaint a fully qualified independent inspector was appointed to view your floor. His report clearly clarifies that the floor is not at fault.
We again appreciate that this is not the outcome that you were hoping for but no defects have been found with our flooring and the report highlighted numerous points of installation and maintenance procedures were not in line with our outlined instructions therefore we cannot agree to your demands of a full refund.
Kind regards,
Malmo
