Thinking about Pilates? Do it!
Mainly Pilates was recommended to me by a local physiotherapist when I was recovering from a back injury. As someone who has never had any interest in sport or fitness workouts, I was apprehensive about joining a Pilates class, but decided it was worth trying if it might help me avoid a recurrence of the back pain.
From the first session, I found Carole to be a patient and understanding teacher, who encourages all participants to improve themselves without making it feel like they’re in competition with each other. She clearly has a thorough understanding of the theory and practice of Pilates, and how to make the activities work best for each person’s needs. I’m also very pleased that the classes aren’t too big (typically 8-12 people in the men’s session), and that they’re kept interesting by each week involving a different mix of exercises (often with the addition of equipment that’s provided).
It’s now four years since I started attending Carole’s classes, and I haven’t had a repeat of my debilitating back problems, which makes them worth every minute and every penny as far as I’m concerned!
