I recently had the energy rating for my apartment done through Maatwerk, who subcontracted another company to carry out the assessment. Their inspector came, reviewed everything, and didn’t mention any major issues during the visit. He was already delayed with the work, so I had to follow up several times, and eventually, he delivered the report. To my surprise, my apartment was given a G rating.

This was shocking, as the apartment was extensively renovated in 2017 and again in 2020. When I checked the ratings of other apartments in my building, I found they all had much better results (C, D, or E). I confronted the inspector and told him the rating must be wrong, but he simply insisted, “it is what it is.”

To double-check, I consulted another insulation company. Their specialist inspected the property and confirmed that everything looked fine—no need for wall, floor, or roof insulation. The only possible upgrade he suggested was replacing the existing double glazing with a more efficient type of glass. He also emphasized that with the renovations and condition of my apartment, it is impossible to receive such a low rating. According to him, since other apartments in the same building have decent ratings, mine should be similar. His conclusion was clear: the first company did not do a proper job, and the assessment should be redone.
