Long set up, but smooth and low-cost usage ever since
It took ages (about 3 weeks) to set up the account and no one could tell me how long it would take to receive access to my bank account, which was urgent and necessary due to needing a Danish IBAN for my job. I almost had to go for a traditional bank. Luckily it was set up just in time and now I am super happy. the AI bot is able to answer almost all questions and if not, the team responds quite fast (within 24 hours). One time someone tried to hack me while I was on holiday and Lunar automatically blocked my card, which was great. It went fast to receive a new card (a few minutes). The cost is low and Lunar teamed up with SAS to create the SAS credit card. Within a month, I have already collected 600 SAS Bonus points, so this really pays off. I cannot give 5 stars, since the set up took incredibly long. It said 10 days, but it took 3 weeks. But ever since it has run smoothly. I would recommend Lunar.

Avoid Lunar for important transfers- Is just a nightmare!
I honestly regret trusting Lunar with an important transfer.
What I discovered too late is that Lunar apparently does not even handle large international transfers properly themselves and instead relies heavily on external correspondent banks like Citi. The result is that when something goes wrong, nobody seems to have real control or visibility over the payment anymore.
My SEPA transfer was first blocked internally by Lunar for review. After days of waiting, they claimed it had finally been released, only for the transfer to then disappear into a Citi compliance / OFAC review for weeks.
The receiving bank cannot locate the payment at all.
And the most shocking part is this: Lunar’s response is basically that once the money enters the correspondent banking chain, they themselves have very limited visibility and control.
So as a customer, you are left in a completely absurd situation:
your money is gone from your account,
the receiving bank cannot see it,
the intermediary bank does not speak to you directly,
and Lunar mostly sends polite disclaimers saying they are “following up”.
This does not feel like a serious modern bank infrastructure. It feels like a fintech pretending to be a bank while outsourcing critical payment operations to third parties they cannot properly control.
The support agents themselves have been polite, but the operational handling has been completely unacceptable. Customers should not spend weeks wondering where their money is while different institutions point fingers at each other.
Very disappointing and honestly stressful experience. Ah! and my money is gone for close to a month now without any explanation.

In certain situations, transactions may be temporarily held for operational, regulatory, sanctions-related, or compliance-related reviews outside the direct control of the sending bank. This is not unique to Lunar and is part of how international payment networks operate across the banking industry.
We also want to reassure both you and anyone reading this review that funds do not simply “disappear” during these processes. While visibility can at times be limited during ongoing reviews within the correspondent banking chain, transfers remain traceable and subject to established banking procedures between the institutions involved.
We completely understand that waiting without a final resolution is difficult, and we are sorry that the experience has left you feeling uncertain and unsupported. Throughout the process, we have continued to follow up through the relevant banking channels and provide the information available to us as soon as we receive updates ourselves.

Problem to withdraw my own money.
The worst banking experience I’ve ever had. I faced serious issues withdrawing my own money. The bank claims the transfer was sent but cannot provide an MT103 or any official proof. I had to escalate the case to the authorities. Extremely disappointing.

In certain situations, larger transfer amounts may have a higher likelihood of being selected for additional checks.

Horrible customer service constantly with false promises….
Horrible customer service constantly giving false promises. Under Danish law they should open your account within 10 working days. I sent in the application and nothing happened. 0 contact. Had to call and they claimed I had to resubmit some needed information which I did.
After that, still nothing. Just left the application hanging even though I have my CPR number and gave all necessary information which they confirmed was enough via phone.
I’m about to miss my payment from my company because of this because I was counting with my account being opened in time. Extremely disappointed. They just keep saying “we will process it”

I am sorry to hear if you have experienced a longer waiting time regarding your bank account application.
This is not something we wish for to take long and our sign up team are working as fast and effective as possible, within the regulations they also have to follow in the application process.
If your application has been processing for more than 10 banking days, it is highly because of some information in the application that has needed to be corrected. In these cases we reach out to our customers through the app and sometimes on email to notify that we need some information corrected.
When this happens the application will automatically take longer to be handled. Furthermore if we ask for extra documents and elaborations on some questions, this also affects the extended process time.
How quickly the customer get back to us with what we have asked for and if it is the correctly documentation also has an impact of the time frame.

Creating an account was a breeze
Lunar made the process of getting my bank account very easy. As a newcommer to Denmark I was worried about the bank application being complicated and long. I'm happy to be proven wrong as this was a breeze. I have previously applied to a different bank and after filling out countless forms I gave up and switched to Lunar and I wish I did this from the very beginning. Than you to the whole team!
