Fake Auction scam site.
This site has a bunch of high demand and high quality cars on “blind auction” with starting bids that are temptingly low. There is little information regarding condition, owners, or accidents. They refuse to put VINs in the description and every auction I saw had less than 12 hours left, thus they are trying to rush people to make a hasty decision to bid quickly before they “lose” the auction. I did see a “request CarFax” button and when I did, surprisingly one showed up in my email! “Maybe this is legit?”, I thought for about one minute. A quick google of the VIN revealed that it indeed was a car for sale by auction…
months ago on a real auction website - BringaTrailer!!!!
This is a well known scam where you “win” an auction, then send money, they claim to ship it and by the time you start questioning why the car hasn’t come, the scammers are gone with your money.
I reported my suspicions to the site’s registrar and foolishly the registrar FORWARDED my email to the site’s manager!!!! Of course they replied:
