Needed to move from 1&1 for domain…

Needed to move from 1&1 for domain hosting because they trebled their pricing so I found a referral from the Nominet site and was impressed by the headline prices from Lowreg. I was even more impressed once I signed up. Anthony, the tech support guy, apologised for taking an hour to respond to a support ticket I posted at slightly after midnight!
Would recommend.
Pros:
Gold standard of service
Great value for money
Massive feature set.
Cons:
Slightly baffling menu structure.

Not very happy

I originally went to Lowreg because it was cheap. Their website seemed nice and support seemed friendly enough, so I bought my domain. Then, when I had an issue with nameservers, I reached out to support and got no response. After a week of the ticket just being there, I bumped it and within about 8 hours, it was deleted. Initially, I thought this may have been a mistake so I made another ticket with the same request and the same behaviour was repeated again, with the ticket being deleted. Interestingly, it seemed that all my tickets were only going to one person.

This got me a little worried so I wrote a letter to them and emailed it to them. It's been over 3 months now and I still haven't got a response from them. After about a month of waiting and me realising that I probably won't get a response, I tried to change registrars to another company. Unfortunately, due to the way .co.uk domains are treated, you need to change the tag at your existing registrar, and the option was not in the control panel so I had to open another ticket, which also didn't get a response. I ended up having to use the nominet control panel to change the tag, which meant that I had to pay more money (but this time directly to the people that manage .uk) for a service that is free in all of the other registrars that I've dealt with.

The prominent display of the nominet accredited badge on the website lead me to believe that there would be some sort of standard for customer service and/or operations but this doesn't appear to be true. This made me pretty vexed.

Overall, I'm pretty disappointed by my experience here and based on my experience, I would never recommend this company.
