Updating my earlier review. After my initial complaint, Lizenzero responded constructively and offered a clear path to resolution.
The underlying cause turned out to be a technical limitation: their payment processor only accepts PayPal payments through a link generated when an order is placed manually through the customer portal. Auto-generated renewal invoices can only be paid via bank transfer. My annual PayPal payment, made the same way I had paid every year since 2022, could not be processed against the new invoice for that reason — which is why they refunded it.
Worth noting: the unauthorised refund cost me approximately $3.00 in PayPal currency conversion fees (USD → EUR → USD). Lizenzero offered a 10% discount code for a future order, which should offset that loss at next renewal — though a direct credit would have been a cleaner fix.
To their credit, Lizenzero agreed to cancel the invoice so I could re-enter the volumes manually and pay via the PayPal link, waived the €2 late fee, and offered the goodwill discount mentioned above.
My honest feedback for anyone reading: PayPal is still publicly listed as an accepted payment method on lizenzero.de, and it is shown as the method on file in the customer portal, but in practice it only works when the order is created manually. Until that is clarified on the website and in the portal, other long-term customers will likely run into the same situation. If you renew annually, place the order through the portal first — do not wait for the auto-generated invoice if you want to pay via PayPal.

They didn't answer my emails and waited until the yearly termination deadline passed to respond and I had to wait another year with a contract with them.

They didn't make it clear (even though they said they did) that we need 3 months cancellation period! So now, we are closing the company and not shipping to Germany, yet they are insisting we owe another €50 (€39+VAT) for a service we don't want need! Its been a good experience up to this point, so its a shame they soured it at this point. Add into that our family health issues, I haven't exactly been thinking about which stuff I need to cancel!

This company binds you to a contract and then threatens you with debt recovery and penalties if you attempt to cancel. Do not engage with them. They claim to prioritise environmental concerns, but their primary focus appears to be on collecting fees. Additionally, they do not provide an appropriate method to report a zero kg usage when you wish to terminate their services.

Since I only send 1 or 2 parcels to Germany in a year, I decided not to renew the contract anymore but I still received the invoice for 2023 and the subsequent reminder with a 4 euro penalty, despite having contacted the assistance I receive another reminder with threat of lawsuit.
Despite the money thrown away, I still pay the invoice (but not the 4 euros) and just today I receive a reminder with the threat of legal recovery for just a measly 4 euros. Shocking..
I don't know how to get out anymore.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY

Crooks. Ripping off small businesses on Etsy in the name of recycling just because they can. Go rip off some other big greedy corporation, charge small businesses for the amount they actually send. You can't justify having to pay 39 euros for sending small items twice a year to Germany!! I bet they make tons out of earnest people, who just follow the Etsy rules. Not inclusive at all for small businesses, just another system in place to make it even harder for small businesses to survive.

I do not recommend them. they're proper crooks. Had to join as it was recommended by etsy, but as i send less than 5 kg of card a year, it was expensive, so i terminated in December after only joining in July where I already had to pay for a full year. I got another invoice warning in Feb, for another full year even though I had terminated, but they said because i hadn't terminated by september (who would? I had only just joined a few months previously!!) i was due to pay another year- even though i had by that point paid for another cheaper service. They're forceful and unmoving even though their service is basic at best for me, and i'm paying twice not even yet for a full years service. Avoid at all costs. The surprise subscription renewal is a load of crock and a really crap deal.
