I tried it from a Spotify Ad. It was a 7 day trial. I logged in once the first day, then never used it again. I got charged for a 3 month subscription after the 7th day. Didn’t realize it was reoccurring. I asked if I could have a refund because I handnt used it at all. They declined, and stated all they could do is refund the 3 months and charge me for 1 month, OR keep the 3 month sub and get a free “group session”. They made it seem as if they were doing me a favor. Highly predatory business practices. As far as the service itself, it was pretty mediocre. Generic international media and anime. Not easy to understand how to use it at all. I was literally logged in for 10 minutes closed it and never opened it again. They cancelled my subscription via email, same as those shady app subscriptions you see on YouTube ads, where you can only unsubscribe via phone or email (to discourage you I imagine)

It's an excellent app for being entertained while you learn. I think they are still working out a few wrinkles, but their customer support has been very responsive!

So helpful for learning Spanish! And turning it on with Spanish-language Netflix shows is so helpful and fun.

Great review of language with real-world experience of viewing at measured or real -world speeds.

I am loving the learning atmosphere of fun and excitement. I'm excited to learn to watch the stories and learn more organically as things unfold. I've tried many books, but this is the first learning experience I've hand that promotes both reading and listening in one fell swoop for Mandarin Chinese.

When trying to log in and use the 7-day FREE trial, they are forcing me to choose a subscription plan. They are forcing me to add payment methods and actually pay for the 7-day FREE trial before I actually use the app. And I am sorry, but I will not trust your word on how "good" and "helpful" the app is since I haven't tried it, and it was unknown to me until a few hours ago. If you are offering a 7-day FREE trial, then do so. I would really like improvement on that end, as I find the whole concept very interesting.
The message they use to convince us about the subscription plans:
"We’re so confident that you’ll both learn a new language and enjoy great TV that we’re offering all languages and features to you for free for 7 days. If you’re not completely satisfied with your language learning progress within 7 days, simply cancel your account and you won’t be charged anything at all."

Completely dishonest company. I was offered a Free Trial but money taken the following day for lessons I had not requested. I was then charged for a Life Time subscription which again I had not requested. I emailed the company as soon as I realised they had taken money without my permission and asked for an immediate refund but have had no reply other than an automated response saying they were busy! The whole process was unethical a lacked transparency. My bank are investigating them for fraud.

I love the interactive features that allow you to click on words in the video. It let's you hear the word, say it, and tell you how it is used in everyday context. At the end of the video, you can do a little quiz to see what you remembered. I also like that you can slow or speed up the audio. You can also do live classes and speak to a native along with others! Definitely recommend for anyone wanting to learn a new language or practice their skills.

I like that I can follow and listen at my own pace. The shows keep my interest which keeps me learning. It's exciting when I can understand more and more without using subtitles.

This company are dishonest and stealers.
I had a free trial with them, as the same as any free trial you have to put in a card to be charged once that trial has ended, which is common practice with free trials.
However, when I went to cancel the initial trial they offered an extra 14 days free, which I accepted. This trial ends midnight of the 13th of February, the day I'm writing this. They have decided to charge me for a full year, before the end of my free trial, with no notice. Not only is this completely wrong, it's stealing. I have made tickets with them to no reply, I have joined their discord and messaged support on there, no reply.
I don't have an issue with their service, I think it's a good concept which didn't work for me. What is abhorrent, is that they willingly steal.
If you choose to use these, make sure you cancel your free trial a week in advance, as I'm sure they'll try to charge you too. As of writing this, I've still had no response from them.

I'm disgusted by Lingopie's dishonest practices. I didn't use Lingopie much as it didn't really work for me learning wise, but would log on from time to time - basically I forgot I had a lingopie account. I became aware of a subscription renewal when I noticed a year's fee taken from my bank account. Lingopie did not send me a renewal reminder notice and did not send a confirmation of renewal, demonstrating an unfair contract term under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and behaviour from a company that will become illegal in April 2026.
Given that I received an email at the beginning of my subscription last year stating that "at Lingopie, transparency and open communication are paramount," I would have hoped that the company would refund my subscription amount as soon as I contacted them (the day after the money came out of my account), but instead they just sent me an email with a highlighted copy of the original terms of service and totally ignored my complaint about their lack of transparency. Not even an apology. From a quick search online, it seems like a lot of people have been in the same position as me. Rubbish company, do not recommend.
