Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed dissatisfaction with the products, citing issues such as poor quality, items being nearly out of date, or missing key ingredients. People also frequently encountered problems with customer service, describing it as rubbish, unhelpful, and difficult to get assistance from staff or management. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with individual staff members, praising their politeness, kindness, and willingness to go above and beyond to assist. A few other people also felt that the retail experience could be positive, especially when specific employees provided excellent service.

Jumbled up bakery selections

I went into Lidl Abbeywood store and by the bakery section they have a new product "croissant with cheese and ham". But this product is right next to the plain, almond and chocolate croissants. I was concerned about cross contamination, food allergy etc. I made a suggestion to one of the managers named Dorin. My suggestion was that they should place this new product close to the savoury items and breads/rolls. Dorin told me that's the way the top brass of the company wants the layout to be. I asked about how they will ensure or guard against food contamination. He was dismissive, rude and frankly unhelpful. I asked how can I raise this as a concern and he said through customer services!
I would give Lidl zero star. I don't buy from the bakery but I sure hope they protect customers and also listen to customers.

I am writing to express my sincere…

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the truly outstanding shopping experience I had today at the Lidl Camberwell Green store. From the moment I walked through the doors, the atmosphere was welcoming and the staff were attentive and professional throughout.

I would like to specifically and wholeheartedly recognise two exceptional members of your team Amanda and Adam who both went far above and beyond what one would typically expect from a supermarket visit.

Amanda was an absolute pleasure to encounter. Her gracious, warm and proactive nature made an immediate impression. She took genuine time and care to ensure that my shopping experience was not only smooth but truly enjoyable. Her attentiveness and natural ability to anticipate the needs of customers is something quite special and very rarely seen.

Adam was equally fantastic. His positive energy, dedication and willingness to engage with customers in such a meaningful and thoughtful way is a true testament to his character and professionalism. He made every moment of the visit feel personal and valued.

Together, Amanda and Adam represent the very best of what customer service should be. They are a tremendous asset to the Camberwell Green store and to Lidl as a whole. Because of their kindness and professionalism, I will absolutely be returning and recommending this store to others.

Please ensure this feedback reaches them both they truly deserve to be recognised.

Lidl advertises special events but doesn't have stock

We hate shops which advertise and then do not have the products. This week was Lidl's gardening event and there were quite a few things we needed - a long thin planting trowel, secataurs, weed control fabric and growbags. Not one of these was in stock in the Castle Blvd Nottingham, despite being advertised in their magazine and every other store having had growbags for weeks. It is a pity head office deliveries to this shop are so poorly managed, as when it has products they are generally good.

Shoreham most miserable lidl store i've ever visited.

Shoreham lidl, possibly the most miserable place to shop in sussex, Don't know what goes on in this store but its not a nice place to shop. Another thing you can never get out of the place without a substantial wait because the tills are closed. Went in there sunday, car park was full so shop was packed Announcement till no1 is closing, 10 past 10 the till had been open 10 minutes and it closed? doesn't help the situation at all.

Horrible experience Lidl Darlington Street Wigan

We decided as a family to switch from Aldi to Lidl after many years. Today I visited the Lidl store on Darlington Street, Wigan and unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. We will never go there again.
After completing my shopping in that Lidl shop, I went to the checkout and was informed that the staffed checkout was available for cash payments only. As I was paying by card, I was directed to use the self-checkout instead. While I understand that stores encourage self-service, the self-checkout area was far too small to accommodate a full trolley of shopping.
There was not enough space on the scale to fit all my items, and I was advised by a member of staff that I would need to scan and pay for one bag at a time. This was highly impractical and inconvenient. As a result, I chose to leave my shopping and shop elsewhere.
The experience left me feeling frustrated and undervalued as a customer. I believe checkout policies and store layout should better accommodate customers doing a full weekly shop, regardless of payment method.
I hope this feedback is taken seriously and constructively and that improvements will be made for future customers.

Lidl In Huntingdon …

Lidl In Huntingdon was a place I liked to shop but 4 times my husband has received a fine for parking there he is a disabled driver
Who uses his blue badges when able to park in the disability spaces then your given less than an hour to do your shopping and get through the tills
There's 8 tills and only ever 2 of them are open
So you have to wait in long ques so how on earth can disabled people
Who have difficulties walking etc able to do a shop and get through the tills all in 30 mins without getting a fine is beyond me
I think it's disgusting to be honest
Especially when it's £90 a time and it discriminate towards disabled people
We will not be using lidl anymore as I'd rather go somewhere that doesn't take the p*** out of people

I shopped at the handsworth store but…

I shopped at the handsworth store but had to make quick cash purchases due to feeling sick ie nausea vomiting so in haste I bout water Chewing gum and a lemon cake thibking that would make me feel better and I could continue my journey. Even though I left a few minutes after the alloted time in an ampty car park they made me go through a whole process through popla only to find me in the wrong and made me pay 90£ threaten court action if I don't pay for just a few minutes in an ampty carpark. Considering people have found rats in their canned food I'm surprised people still shop here...

THINK TWICE ABOUT USING THE COUPONS ON YOUR LIDL APP - THEY ARE MISLEADING

I have the Lidl Plus App. This week I received coupons for 50% off certain items. I am in my 80s and on limited income, so I was going to treat myself to some luxury Belgian chocolate biscuits and some Favorina dark chocolate hearts, for Christmas. After I'd gone through the check-out, I checked my receipt. 4 of the items had gone through at full price. A manager was sent for to assist me with my problem. I was with him 15 minutes trying to sort it all out. He checked and, indeed, the items should have been charged at half price. He said he was unable to give me a refund of the 50% overcharge and could only give me back what I'd been charged. What sort of company does not authorise their managers to give refunds? Neither was I able to purchase the items again because the coupons had been removed from my App. When I got home, I got onto Lidl's website/customer care. I spent a long time completing the form they provide for you to fill in if you have a problem. After pressing "send", a message came up saying "internal error, try again later". I have tried for almost 24 hours, but the same message comes up. I tried going through their ChatBot, but that was a useless exercise.
It seems to me that Lidl are misleading their customers with the coupons they offer. Also, they DO NOT seem to be much bothered about their customer care and they put numerous obstacles in the way of getting any satisfactory answers from a human being.
PLEASE THINK TWICE ABOUT BEING TEMPTED INTO THEIR STORES TO USE YOUR COUPONS AND, IF YOU DO, CHECK YOUR BILL AS IT GOES THROUGH THE TILL (NOT EASY)!

Refused to open a till and quoted that it is now lidl policy that customers use self checkout even with a full trolley.

Lidl, the Ryanair of supermarkets. Will never shop there again. At the Basingstoke - worting road store this evening, I had a full trolley and the checkout assistant told me i had to use the self check out. He refused to open up the till quoting it was lidl policy that i use the self checkout, he then went back to shelf stacking. If I hadn't needed the items I would have walked out and left them with a full trolley to deal with. It took me an age to scan all the items and Surprise surprise my shopping did not fit on the self checkout area. Until today I have never had a bad word to say about Lidl, that has now changed. I will shop elsewhere from now on, as self scanning a trolley full of food is impractical.

No eye contact just a yawn. ‘Have a nice day’ on leaving with no eye contact and very quiet . She really couldn’t be bothered.

Appalling customer service at Lyons…

Appalling customer service at Lyons Farm Worthing. Be wary if you have a bad back. I had the cart pulled from my hand. The manager refused to look after my shopping as I npw had to leave some and come back.
He accused me of been rude to staff.
At age 63 with health issues, I expect to wheel my shopping to the car. He took glee in refusing to watch my sbopping which I had to take in stages to the car. Checkout at this new store is unlike a normal supemarket. It is a srict barrier system through self checkout.
Appalling experience. I am still seathing. Lyons Farm Worthing between 7pm and 8pm. This manager allows young staff to play tug of war on a cart, with a 63 year old, with health issues.
This manager should be ashaamed.
There is no customer service and the customer is 'definetly not right. Lidl is. No compromise. Be warned, esp if you have issues carrying heavy shopping

Getting really fed up with Lidl in Totton

Getting really fed up with Lidl in Totton. Last week five of the pack of Cocktail Vine tomatos were rotton in varying degrees. This week half of the pack of avocados is soft. We stopped buying coliflower as they were so bad, but they seem to have improved recently.
It's just not worth the petrol cost of going back.
Looks like Aldi have gained a customer.
