No telephone number to contact for advice? for a £700 product? that's a shame.
I will spend my money somewhere else.
Thank you very much.
so good i bought a second
so good i bought a second, My wife and i are not getting any younger and wanted transport when we are away in our motor home, we both had light weight mountain bikes, it was a no brainer to convert these, as modern electric bikes are very heavy and not easy to pedal when the battery runs out. this is the perfect compromise and two for the price of one E bike.

Brompton conversion
I converted a 3 speed (hub geared) brompton with the brompton specific Boost kit. I have done Boost conversions for customers before but this was the first Brompton that I have done. Quality of engineered components is high and the supplied rear wheel is an exact match for Bromptons original item. Battery installation is discreet and very neat. The 2 speed chain pusher conversion which was fitted alongside the boost kit works very well.
As an installer I was pleased with the thoughtful design that has been applied to this kit.
Also delighted to fit something designed in Britain by a British company (Makes a change!)
I sought some technical help from Boost while sourcing the parts for the 2 speed conversion and received prompt and friendly direction.
So good we've bought it twice!
We started by helping our neighbour to troubleshoot his very temperamental front wheel conversion kit. He was loosing confidence and with little support from the manufacturer, was reducing the frequency of joining us oldies on our weekly rides.
In searching for a replacement kit we came across 'Ride with Roy' on YTube. After watching a comprehensive independent review on this rear wheel hub kit, we were sold on the idea of a full replacement kit for his hybrid Boardman cycle.
Dave, at Warwick Cycles, gave great advice after I had dropped by whilst in his vicinity.
With us (and the bikes) living in Swansea, online orders were placed for two kits. One as a replacement for the dodgy FWD kit and one to be fitted to my wife's Kona Cinder Core gravel bike (from the 1990s).
Wheels were built to order and delivery was fast. Less than three weeks for both kits.
Technical and sales advice from Nick and Charlie has been swift and both have been a delight to deal with.
Fitting took around 20 minutes from start to finish. The complete package is incredibly well designed, well thought through and is simple to install - if you can change a rear tyre and fit a water bottle then you can fit this conversion.
We live on the Gower Peninsula and hills are frequently encountered here.
So far both riders are impressed with the performance of these kits.
Other reviews have flagged up the limitations of this product and Nick quite clearly states the design intentions of the system. Having bought with this stated specification in mind, everyone this end are 'Hapus iawn' at the moment.
Hint for owners of Halfords 'Boardman Gents hybrid' .... the rear axle drop-out needed a couple of passes with a flat file to give a little more clearance on the motor axle spindle and you will need to remove the cassette-side nut and washers to get past the deuralier mechanism casing.

I can get up hills again!
I can get up hills again! After quite some time away from cycling, I converted my bike into an ebike with a Boost kit. The conversion was simple enough, it took me around 30 minutes in total.
I've been addicted to it for the past few weeks now. I'm fairly tall and heavy, but the motor is powerful enough to get me around, and I've been losing weight since I started to use it.

Doesn’t work on hills
Whilst happy with the service and workmanship of the supplier, I am utterly disappointed with the product itself. There is zero assistance on steeper hills which is where you need the help the most, on the flats it’s basically all or nothing in term of power input. There is eco mode and boost but that is neither here nor there. Battery seems to die at around 40% charge which is odd and this has been referenced in other reviews. Previously owned a Mycle folding e bike which was infinitely better than this. A big waste of money and only resolution now is to sell the two bikes I had converted and buy proper e bikes instead. Big, big disappointment.

Dont use in the rain!
From start to finish the whole process was painful. Firstly they couldnt get hold of any rims, they said their supplier had a shortage so I requested the motor to be sent to me and I had the wheel built at my LBS. I ordered a rim from Chain reaction and had it next day! This process above took three weeks before I received the motor (Because they allow three weeks to build the wheel it was then when they told me they couldn't get the rims!). Installed the system which was easy to fit.
The motor makes a loud whinny noise, at first I thought something was wrong, but no thats the noise it makes. It worked for about 2months I guess then it cut out during a ride. It was sent back for repair, they noted that the control board it had got wet. They said the system isn't guaranteed for water ingress which is handy as its next to the wheel and we live in a damp climate so its likely to get splashed, they told me that I could buy a cover for it just encase it rains, they fixed it for free and sent it back. I never used it in hard rain as I take my car if its that wet!!
When it was returned two/three weeks later they drilled a small hole in the bottom of the controller housing to let the water out I guess!! It lasted about two/three weeks and failed again. It was sent back again at my expense (again) and they said yes it was the controller again. Anyway I sent the whole system back and got some of my money back, I now have another system from another company which has been faultless from day one (Cytronex).
If they sorted the water ingress issue out and the noise it could be a nice kit but it needs big improvements first.

Simple conversion good range
Absolutely fantastic speeds up my commute and has a decent range (30 miles) on a reasonably flat route with a few long drags on boost all the time. Eco mode will go further but slower.
Easy conversion as long as you’re reasonably competent at home cycle repair.
Also great customer service. Any questions are answered either on the facebook support page or by direct email.
Love it!
I needed a rear wheel conversion kit with a decent battery for my MTB. It arrived sooner than I expected, it was easy enough for me to fix all on my own, and now I can get up the steep hills in my area without dripping with sweat. It won't do all the work for you but a fair big chunk.
The battery locks in place unlike other conversion kits I looked at. You can barely tell that it's now an ebike because it's so discreet. The battery lasts an impressive amount of time. I'm so happy with it!
Great product and elegantly designed
Great product and elegantly designed. Just what I hoped it would be.
Awesome bit of kit
Been really liking my Boost Bikes electric conversion kit and here is my real world review.
Been a road cyclist for 35 years but covid did not treat me well and after a ton of steroids, I'm now around 210 pounds in weight and I average about 155 Watts.
I took a punt on this kit as it's a doddle to fit. It has seriously given me back what I lost and is allowing me to build back up by taking the edge off long rides.
I'm a bit of a speed demon and specialise in downhill so I've had a bit of a problem with the bottle cage ripping off the frame but rectified it with a bottle cage extender so I can get a 3 bolt fix instead of 2. Also beefed it up with cable ties as added protection but if you're not a nutter like me, not needed.
Done lots of 30 mile ish rides fairly flat and come home with about 50% left on the battery.
Today I did a proper hilly longer ride up to the reservoirs above Hennock. A 920ft climb with 2035ft total climbing over 38 miles. The battery died at 37 miles which is really impressive carrying a fat old fart up a 15% climb.
Low speed isn't great on the assist but this is what I personally need up steep hills to help build up my climbing muscles again but when I'm absolutely knackered from climbing, it gets me home.
Did 48mph on the descent today down a very rough road. Rear wheel is very well built and feels really nice and handles well cornering at speed.
I'm really impressed and super pleased with my kit.
Good introduction to e-biking... but.
Alas, the bike shop who did my conversion took three attempts to get it to a serviceable level. Overall, I'm pleased with the benefits, and in the wake of a back problem, it's helped me back into the saddle. But... it's incredibly noisy when under pressure, a growly whine, which in places like Richmond Park, is very intrusive for people enjoying the quiet and solitude. I don't know what the noise expectation is, so it'd be useful if it could be checked (I have little confidence asking the original installer). My other issue is with eco mode. For much of the time it's great, but it can be erratic, and sometimes seems to cut out, almost like a brake being applied. Again, would like to get this checked out.

At 78 I was finding the hills on my daily bike ride a bit of an effort now with my Boost I have rekindled my love of cycling

A truly well thought out and engineered package. The Boost e-Bike kit is simple and intuitive to set up and has real feel of quality about it.
We took our first ride with our new Boost kits fitted at the weekend and what a difference it makes - 36km and still 80% battery! The support team are very responsive and helpful from my first enquiry through to delivery. I would thoroughly recommend this product if you are looking to give your current bike and cycling experience a 'Boost'.

Phil at Dragon Cycles in Cardiff fitted my Boost battery for me and he has been amazing in looking after me with the couple of issues I have had, mainly with the handlebar monitor going flat on me. This has now been rectified and I am enjoying having that extra push, my only disappointment is that it is quite noisy when cycling, is this the norm?

Just converted my bike
Just converted my bike , great piece of kit simple and ergonomic
Exceptional Kit
I have ridden with my new boost kit for around 3 weeks and I have nothing but positive comments. The starting point was the communication at the start was fantastic and very responsive to a few of my questions. As soon as my kit was ordered the communication just continued and within a few weeks delivered to my house. Fitting the new kit took me no more than 20 minutes. Hardest part was changing the wheel, everything else was so easy. The kit performs so smoothly and gets me to the legal limit with no effort and maintains the speed when I need it. The motor is so smooth and quiet. If you’re looking for a kit that makes riding more enjoyable or take the hardness out of riding this is the kit for you. I now can’t wait to get on the bike and switch the kit on and get cycling, Fantastic all round.

Boost Bike Conversion
Just picked up my Boost Bike conversion which was installed on my bike by GC Bike Repairs Southsea. Rear wheel rebuilt to accommodate the hub motor and existing gear cassette. It's still early days yet but so far I'm very happy with how the Boost Bike kit performs. Time will tell. Would highly recommend George at GC Bikes Southsea for his knowledge and technical skills in fitting the conversion. Thanks. A professional installation gives the Boost Bike conversion a 12 month comprehensive warranty. Well worth it for the money.

Great concept but the reality has been very disapointing
Great concept but the reality has been very disapointing. I got one of the recomended shops to fit the kit to save time. The time estimate was about a week and a half to fit, in the end it was about a month. Since fitting, the wheel has detentioned twice, meaning which seems to take 2 or 3 days to fix, plus finding time and method to get the bike to the shop (my tiny car now has many scratches). Also when the wheel fails I am left stuck having to find another form of transport home. I started the process with a functioning bike, since I then I have been able to cycle about half of the time. The boost seems to stop assisting at 40% battery which I am getting the impression from the support is what they would expect. It's quite noisy. The handle bar unit fails to connect every so often, requiring the battery to be removed and put back in. The unit also comes with a flat battery that I had to replace the day after I bought it.
All of this seems to be of not much suprise to the support team and I get the impression they think I should be happy with this situation.
I should add they have offered to have me post the battery and handle bar unit for inspection but this is even more down time for my bike.
