Bought a Galaxy S6 unlocked any network it developed a fault and was sent to Samsung for repair
When it came back it had the 3 Network logo on it I contacted Samsung who told me to contact retailer I did but was just sent in circles
I had to issue County Court proceedings against laptops direct who had to pay up
Total scam
Purchased a so called new laptop and they sent me a used one then told me I had to pay myself to return it, showed the laptop to trading standards and they have now taken on my case as they agreed it was used not new, this company should be put out of trading as they treat new customers like sh@t.
Customer service issues resolve without major issues
I placed 3 orders within a short period of time. It was for a number of items but including 3 laptops from laptop direct.co.uk. They are arrived as scheduled and tracking was fantastic , they're high prices items and I opted for express. DPD delivered all and were without fault couldn't ask for more. Unfortunately one laptop developed a fault within 14days I suspect was manufacture issue. I used their contact form within 48 hours returns were arranged. The case was resolved within 10 working day replaced and customer retention measures were taken were suitable. They seemed busy and did miss a estimated timeframe but a simple call/email and was update . I deal with a lot of companies and its when stuff goes wrong you see if they're good this is why I give them 4 stars. They are better then many competitors.
Never again
I purchased a laptop - must add the Sales process was very professional - went downhill from there! The laptop arrives minus power adaptor! They offered me a refund of £15 (HP charger is £70 from HP). We agreed on £30 and I purchased one at my expense. Then we try to do the recovery disk and find that there is no partion drive on the laptop to allow this to be done (HP confirmed this). I had refused to purchase the package where they create a recovery disk on your behalf as it is very easy to do and I work in IT. Was told I would get a call back to agree a refund and I could go ahead and have HP do the work to create a partition. Then we hit the 3rd problem - I download Office 365 and it won't work. I assumed this was due to the download and contacted Microsoft. A very nice man named Enzo spent 90minutes+ finding and resolving the issue - which turned out to be a corrupt registry! LaptopsDirect did not show any surprise at this or offer any solution. They do not have a Tech Support so it appears that any after sales issues cannot be resolved by them. In fact all the advice I got was to call the Manufacturer - not helpful. They are now requesting that I send the laptop back but will give no indication how long before I get a replacement! Have now started discussion about full refund but not holding my breath as have just been told 'that is the only offer they will make'. Looks like I'm in for a long haul on this one - my advice is do not use this company.
Disappointing first time experience as Business
We ordered a all in one PC from Laptops Direct and they delivered wrong item. When asked them to return the item and refund they said my return request was not accepted as this is a business order and they do not accept unwanted returns.
Firstly whatever the reason this is an unacceptable customer service and more importantly when it is totally their mistake delivering wrong item they blame us ordering wrong item.
How can any business carry on with this kind of service from a supplier? This is totally unacceptable.
What a waste of time dealing with them, what a waste of money spend with them if you are a business.
If this is how they treat to a potential business customer which can spend over £250k per annum I do not even want to imagine how they would treat individual customers.
Doing business with any of the group companies again? Never again. Not through work and not personally. And whatever the result maybe, I will make sure everyone I know through work and personally know what kind of a company buyitdirect is.
Ohh well if they wont accept return then I will contact my bank and if necessary visa company. Not because of value of item but principle. They need to learn how they should provide "Customer Service"
Fraudulent?
Bought a laptop from these people in April, paid full. Laptop delivered faulty, had it returned and another delivered seven days later. Also faulty, confirmed by manufacturer. Laptop direct suggested that the manufacturer was wrong, sent back second laptop only to be told that the tech process takes fourteen days. Three weeks and no laptop.
False advertising as they are selling faulty units at premium price.
Request refund and now awaiting their excuses on why they will refuse to pay.
DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!
Never again. Bad customer service. Not in stock.
I paid for a laptop which was apparently in stock. Also, next day delivery was added. 7 days later, no laptop no call. After getting in touch with rather useless advisor, I was told this laptop will be available in 2 weeks! They promised to try to speed things up and to call in 20min. No call, no email. Totally ignored me. Great business model. We were also about to buy appliences from them for our new house. It's not going to happen. Pay £10 more and go elsewhere.
Bad Experience all round
I placed my order over the phone for a laptop with a sales representative and he confirmed everything for me, I went for a package deal advertised on the website, he confirmed my discount and the total cost of the order, I paid him by card and received my confirmation email confirming everything correctly and I seen the correct amount come off my card. 5 minutes later I checked my bank account and a second unauthorised payment was taken off my card, I rang the same man back again and he basically said I wasn't getting the discount which was advertised (and which he agreed to earlier which was confirmed on my email so I do have proof) and he spoke to me like I was delusional. The second payment was basically me paying full amount for everything that was on sale. When I told him this was not correct and he had no permission to take any other payments off my card he said I was in the wrong and that the confirmation email I had must have been an error - but not his error.... That email matched everything advertised on the website and the first amount taken from my card. Worst experience with online shopping ever and I will never use Laptops Direct again. I told him to cancel the package order and just send me the laptop, I received only part of my refund a week later, I'm still waiting on a small balance. To make matters worse, the laptop I received has a faulty battery in it but I'm afraid to send it back to them incase they take any more unauthorised payments from my card. Bottom line, the package deals on the website are falsely advertised, either that or the sales representative I spoke to was trying to scam my card.
Avoid at all costs - Waste of space
Absolutely disgusting customer service, purchased a refurbished laptop as a Christmas present for my son, which arrived in excellent condition and in good time. However when he went to use it on Christmas day an error message came up saying “windows key already in use on another machine”, it was also extremely slow, which I assume is due to the incorrect key.
I contacted Laptops direct through their e messaging service and received a prompt reply with a link to down load a new code which I happily did, however this took nearly 2 hours as the laptop was so slow and then when done it said the key was not compatible. So I replied to the e-mail sent to me only to be told that they could not deal with my query in this manner and I would need to message again through e messaging. Which is not ideal as limited character spaces and there is no e-mail trail!
So after numerous e messages I have basically been told I am not entitled to a refund, and to contact Microsoft with my problem, they just don’t want to know! And after reading through other reviews this tends to be a trend of theirs, great service unless you have a problem, then they just can’t be bothered. They have received their money and that’s all that they are interested in!
Buyer Beware of Laptops Direct
I bought a computer from this company before christmas 16/12/2015. It NEVER worked. I contacted them immediately and they told me to download drivers from the manufacturer's site, which I did. The computer still didn't work. After several e mails , phone calls and e messages they said that the computer needed to be tested and that I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THEM TO TEST IT!!!!. After another flustrating phone call they agreed to collect the computer (they use CITY AIR couriers ). The courier didn't arrive on the agreed day (arrived 5 days later) and took the computer. Despite several more e messages, e mails and phone calls they told me that the computer " has not been scanned back in" I asked when this would happen and the so called "customer Service Rep told me he could not give me a time line of when this would happen. They don't even reply to e mails and when you ring them you never get to speak to the same person twice Customer service is non existent NEW INFORMATION I have just contacted Laptops Direct and asked for the status of my case, The customer service rep told me what had happened and I quote
" Fault report logged"
"Computer returned on the 14/1/2016"
"Computer tested and NO HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE FAULTS DETECTED"
"computer to be returned to customer or reshelved for re sale".
I told them that I wanted a full refund and was told that that would take 3 - 5 working days, I can only hope that will happen
Now , I am not a computer technician but if the computer was faulty leaving my house ,how did it have no faults when it was tested???
The really worrying part is the computer is going to be re sold to some one else and that poor sod is going to go through the same experience as I have had
good sales service abismal aftersales.
The sales process and payment is very easy (no surprise there) but the aftersales and administration is abysmal and you will certainly need to contact them once the order has been placed. No tracking numbers supplied even though promised, very difficult to get a reply from aftersales. However that all said the laptop arrived within 6 days from order and is in as new condition. Overall, I suppose you get what you pay for from there aftersales but the sales service and product is perfect.
Awful service, do not order from.
I bought a laptop from laptopsdirect on the 27th of November, it was advertised as having a particular card which it didn't have, when I purchased it paid extra for speedy delivery which should have only taken 2-3 days, it took 7 days to arrive, I found out that it did not have any dedicated graphics card despite what was advertised on the site, I rang up the customer service department who arranged a delivery and on telling them of their mistake they did not remove the false information on the laptop. The courier they use city air express collected the laptop on the 9th, it took until the 29th for the laptop to arrive back there, the courier service is awful too. At every step of the way from purchasing the laptop to receiving the return I had to ring customer service each time as they were extremely slow to do anything, only after each call would they actually do anything. Again like many other reviews have said if you don't want a complete headache and utter dissappointment don't deal with laptopsdirect.
Useless
Ordered a PC as a Christmas present for my son, Received email from them stating it was dispatched, also had an email from Derby couriers to state they had been instructed to collect the item and deliver it on the 18th Dec. Made sure somebody was home but nothing came, checked the laptops direct tracking and it shows delivered to me yet derby couriers haven't even collect it. Despite emails and a phone call that was supposed to be returned today (Sat 19 Dec) ive heard nothing. Running out of time now to get an alternative......I just wish I knew where I stood!
Laptop Trade in
I would never ever use them again. I sent them a 2 year old laptop in mint condition having had it valued it on their website at £150. Having received it, they then dropped the price to £110 on the basis 'the keys show signs of wear' which is completely untrue - they are in perfect condition. My sense is that they always drop the price as they know most people will not be bothered to have it sent back again. To make matters worse, having sent them the laptop in its original purpose-made box, they clearly then threw that away and sent it back to me wrapped in bubble wrap
DON"T USE THIS COMPANY THEY HAVE RIPPED LOADS OF PEOPLE OFF
We bought a laptop from this company which was supposed to be brand new and they sent us a second hand computer which was over a year old and damaged. SURPRISE SURPRISE they let us send it back. We have a studio and have used lot's of great companies for buying laptops and computers and this is the worst company we have ever dealt with. PLEASE look at other sites for reviews we only wish we had read them first before being ripped off by these bunch of cowboys
rubbish
dont buy from here, dont accept returns, terrible customer service
Is this Customer support ?
Sept 14 - bought a £450 Lenovo e73 Desktop - Sept 15 - about 10 days outside the anniversary of purchase it failed to switch on - no LED, no nothing ! Clearly switch /psu issue. Dropped a note to LapTops Direct - Response - Its outside 12 months. That was it - its outside 12 months so we are not interested :-(
Followed up with email - no response - even acknowledgement of mail even :-( :-(
Accepting we are outside, just !, the statutory returns period it shows LTD have a very poor commitment to their customers. Customer service is what you do when you don't have to - not what you do when you are legally bound to. It just shows the words on the website are gloss and dressing and do not reflect LTD real values - I quote -
"We’re passionate about what we do and it’s our mission is to bring you the best deals in the UK from all the leading brands, whilst also offering the best possible advice through our specialist trained sales team who collectively have over 100 years experience.
We’re not going anywhere! Unlike some of our competitors we don’t have shareholders so we can focus on giving you our best possible deals and prices rather than trying to make money to pay bonuses! We’ve grown every year since entering the online market in 2000 and we don’t intend to stop." Lol !!!! :-( :-( :-( :-(
All this gloss has no basis in fact in my experience - To have no interest in why one of their products failed a matter of days outside the 12 month period suggests a business that totally focused on short term bottom line, "As long as we can get stuff out the door who cares about the customer experience, we've done what we legally have to".
In this day for a desktop that doesn't get moved around like a laptop to last a fraction over 12 months is unusual - and you would have thought a decent business would at least want to find out why ?? But to make no effort to offer any advice or mechanism for investigation / rectification. It could be the switch - a few pence - or is there an internal fuse in the PSU ??
I accept LTD are not required to do anything - but as I say - Customer Service is going above and beyond - not walking away as soon as you can !
Based on this experience I would hesitate to recommend LTD to anyone. :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(
Not bad - not perfect though
Items listed on their website are genuinely cheaper - there are some hidden costs which are added though which should normally be standard whilst checking out.
Over the 3 times I've used them, they are still the cheapest and all the items have been pretty much as stated. Customer service is probably where they let themselves down though.
I like the monitor but not the delivery service
Bought an LG 29" MONITOR. Was supposed to be delivered on Saturday but did not turn up. Rang the co around 3pm and was told it was down for sat but could arrive up to 8pm. Still nothing. Really annoyed at my day wasted waiting in for no reason. Rang on Monday and requested sat delivery cost returned. They have agreed, and email to say returned.
Was then told Monitor would be delivered wed, which it was. Good monitor but company REALLY needs to get its act together on proper delivery times. When not delivered there should be at least a £50 compensation for a whole day wasted. NOT GOOD ENOUGH .
Hidden costs, poor service
I bought a Dell Monitor (Ultrasharp U2414H 23.8").
My computer only recognizes the monitor some of the time - otherwise you get a huge, fuzzy, stretched 'VGA'-style display. Looking online, this is a recognized problem with this monitor. According to the forums, an HDMI cable will solve it.
I tried to raise this issue with Laptops Direct. First, they fobbed me off by sending me to the manufacturer for support. Half an hour later I had spent £2.30 on a phone call and got nowhere. I then complained to LD's customer services, asking to be sent the cable (HDMI) that would allow my new monitor to work properly.
They insisted I would have to purchase the cable myself. I continued to complain, stressing that they, as seller, are responsible under the Sale of Goods Act*, not the manufacturer, but I haven't heard from them since (about 2 weeks.)
It looks like I will have to buy my own cable.
Beware: Laptops Direct might not be quite as good value as they seem.
