Never received a refund - May21 IB Student
I’m an IB senior May21, and my experience was not the best with Laterna. I initially chose a TOK tutor to help me with my TOK presentation that I was super stressed about. She did not help me like I wanted and I wasn’t very satisfied. I asked her to help me a bit more, because I had trouble, but she didnt. I contacted Laterna and explained them the situation and asked for a refund but they refused. While on Laterna it says “satisfaction Guaranteed” it isn’t fully true. I respect Laterna a lot, and all the work they put in. But my experience was not the best. I just never received the money back which was almost worth 300€ for hours that I could have spent on a better tutor.

I am very sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with our support and service. I am also very surprised to hear that your tutor should have declined to help you unless you had not run out of hours? I am certain that she would have continued the tutoring and assured you that you would have received the support you were looking for if you had booked more hours. I understand that the IB is stressful and that you want to get support ASAP for your upcoming assignments and tests. This is why we work very hard on liking all students with their tutors within a few hours after they have signed up for their support - to make sure that they can get support ASAP and achieve the highest possible grades when working against a tight deadline. However, you would always have to book hours with your tutor before you request additional support. I hope this makes sense and I am sorry if this has been unclear or if your tutor failed to inform you about this. Regarding our satisfaction guarantee, it is correct that you can't receive a refund after completing all the hours you have booked. Again, I am terribly sorry to hear that you are upset and unsatisfied and I wish that you could have contacted us sooner about this and I would have made sure that you got assigned to another tutor who could provide you with the support you were looking for. I wish you the best of luck in the future and hope that you will graduate from the IB successfully.

We are so impressed with Lanterna
We are so impressed with Lanterna. Organised IB and iGCSE tutors within a matter of hours for two of my sons. The tutors have been professional, friendly, knowledgable and incredibly useful. The boys have enthusiastically engaged with the lessons. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a boost in a subject.

Imogen Duke: History Tutor
I had help from Imogen Duke for HL History. She is very intelligent, patient, friendly, and helpful. She was there to guide and support me throughout all my classwork and she was very generous with her time. I appreciate all her help. I have worked with her a few times in the past before and I am very glad that I could have her guidance in History again. I recommend that everyone gets Imogen Duke as their History tutor!
