My experiences with Kaiser have been mostly very positive!! I have a GREAT Dr.
My experiences with Kaiser have been mostly VERY POSITIVE!!! My Dr. is exceptional, so friendly , easy to talk to and truly cares about my life and health.
I feel I have always had really good care within the 13 years I have been with Kaiser.
I rated it 4 instead of 5 because I have been having trouble getting an ER bill paid to those providers, because my insurance was not updated from Aetna 13 years ago and the hospital didn't update my records to Kaiser from my ER visit yet.
SAD TO SEE NEGATIVE REVIEWS BECAUSE ...
It is sad to read so many negative one-star reviews when my experience of Kaiser Permanente in northern Virginia has been nothing short of spectacular. It should worry KP immensely that it has earned infamy for not responding to negative reviews. That is just shocking management.
In my case service over the past five months has been unparalleled, both from doctors, specialists and nurses and from support staff. Although occasionally slow, counterintuitive and clunky, online interactions have been prompt, accurate and really helpful. Even KP pharmacies, often failing by not having adequate supplies of prescribed medicines, have largely risen to the challenge - especially around mailbox delivery of refills.
One can only hope KP in NoVA maintains this level of care.

I have only ever taken them as a health insurance provider because they are one of the lowest cost, and it shows in their care. I’ve always just prayed while under their insurance that I don’t get sick or have health needs. They would rather get the $$$ of treating an obese patient than prescribe Ozempic. If they can “manage” an issue after it’s come up rather than “prevent” an issue from happening, that’s how they will manage you, for the bonus bucks.
Kaiser Permante are liars and thieves
Kaiser Permante are liars and thieves. They will give you a referral and find a way to not pay for it, even though you did exactly as they instructed you to do. You are then left with a bill for thousands of dollars to have to pay out of pocket. Do not trust Kaiser Permante!!!
Criminal Organization
Their whole operation tries to get you to use their app and website. Their app and website are garbage (freeze, endless loop. This time around i couldnt log into the app "system error" and the website frozen when i tried to make a payment. Supposedly my medication is being delivered tomorrow. It took me 3.5 months to get it after having been on it for over a year prior to switching to Kaiser from Cigna.
Who would have thought having your doctor, insurance and pharmacy all be the same company was a bad idea????
Update: after being told my medication being shipped (not the first time) I received a text saying there is a payment issue. I called the phone number in the text. The automated prompt told me the medication was scheduled to ship. I reached out for a person. They told me I needed to pay $60 over the phone to release the medication. I asked for email documentation. I was told it could only be mailed with the medication. Luck would have it i was performing work at a Kaiser facility. I went to their pharmacy. After more back and fourth, and pleading I walked away with a 3 month supply for $90 out of pocket. My favorite lone i keep hearing from the pharmacy people is i need to talk to my insurance...You are my insurance.
PS The soda is cheaper out of the machine vs the cafe.
WORST SERVICE-THUS CARE-IN CALIF.
WORST SERVICE-THUS CARE-IN CALIF.
I have been a Kaiser member for 35 years+. When I owned a law firm they insured all my employees and families. I say this b/c I am not biased against them, but instead a long time customer.
They are just the worst now.
The Interventional Medicine Dept. has not answered the phone for 4 months. Even the Kaiser operators can't get through. Why--On Strike--but Kaiser won't permit any costs for substitute employees to be incurred. So, you might need back surgery, but too bad. Kaiser isn't taking calls.
Or if you are like me and have surgery set for next week, you can't get the pre-op instructions--or even the exact time of the surgery. It's just the patient that loses out--so what does management care? They still bill you the same amount/month.
Or blood in your stool??? My primary care ordered a test STAT. Endocronology cancelled it.
They said,"It is sure to be positive".
Why cancel the test, then?
Kaiser: Because you can only have a colonoscopy every 5 years and we don't want a positive test until then.
They literally tried to shame me by saying, "If we give you one then someone else won't get theirs".
What, they have a cap on how many they do/year?
No wonder colon cancer is the fastest rising cancer in the nation.
I had to do a Medicare appeal to get one. They found a 10mm polyp and if they had waited that 3 additional years it, for sure, would have been malignant. I got it out just in time.
But only b/c I appealed to Medicare.
And whole departments that don't have staff due to a strike? But they still bill you 100%.
It's immoral!
They have really gone down in service…
They have really gone down in service and care. Prescriptions are never ready, web site is screwy. Appointments not accurate. Rude front desk staff
TAN NHAT PHAM MD maybe one of the worst…
TAN NHAT PHAM MD maybe one of the worst doctors in America. I had nothing but trouble with him.
One of the worst occurrences was when I went in with a sinus infection . I get them about every 2 or 3 years. TAN NHAT PHAM prescribed me an antibiotic and after 3 days my infection was still getting worse , so I called, emailed and called again he told me "just keep using it and it will work".
When I have these infection usually the antibiotics work in hours or a day. So, I paid out of pocket $400 to have DNA test done on my nasal mucus (snot) and within 2 days it came back with the results and it said that the infection was antibiotic resistant to one antibiotic and it was the antibiotic he prescribed. I sent a copy of the results via email to TAN NHAT PHAM and he told the antibiotic will work and that he read my test from the DNA lab
10 days later I was in the Kaiser ER in Walnut creek where I waited 17 hours watching a baby sitting on a father's lap dying, who had been in ER for 19 hours. I made more calls to Kaiser from the ER trying to get an appointment with another doctor but Kaiser would only refer me to back to the same bad doctor. So I called him and begged for a new antibiotic and Phan told me that "he didn't read page two of the DNA test" that I paid for and agreed to change my antibiotic. The testing company gave a list of about 25 antibiotics that will work. He changed it and 1 day later my infection was gone. So, for 12 days I had snot dripping out of the eyes and ears because he didn't read page 2 on the test.
Kaiser refused to pay for my test and no apology from anyone and I got to see a baby die in ER at Walnut Creek Kaiser ER
One of the worst doctors in the U.S.
Mistakes like these can kill you, ask my dead and only child my son who was killed at Kaiser last year!!!
Terrible service.
Terrible service.. woke activist run this entire company... becareful they could poison you... #jenniferL
Visit to the Optical, Cap Hill, WDC
This complaint concerns the Kaiser Permanente facility located at 700 2nd St NE, Washington, DC 20002 (Allied Health/Nurse Visit – Optician, Capitol Hill). I later learned that this location currently holds a D- rating with the Better Business Bureau, which aligns with the level of service I experienced from Ms. Cooper.
On 1 April 2026, I had a 2:30 p.m. Allied Health/Nurse Visit appointment. I arrived early and waited until my scheduled time. Per Kaiser’s posted instructions, patients are advised to check with the receptionist if more than 15 minutes pass without being called, so at 2:45 p.m. I followed that guidance.
I had been waiting near the optometry area, assuming that was the correct location, but later learned it was not. I approached Ms. Nine (N.) Cooper, who appeared to be a supervisor, and asked about my appointment. She initially told me I would be called shortly. When I explained that it was already 15 minutes past my appointment time, she stated she would find someone to assist me. No one followed up.
A short time later, another staff member near Mr. Hennigan’s desk assisted me and brought me to him. Mr. Hennigan immediately helped me and provided excellent service. While seated at his station, I observed Ms. Cooper assisting another customer, despite having left me waiting without any communication or resolution.
I expressed to Mr. Hennigan that this was unacceptable customer service. As someone who works in a customer-facing profession, I would never leave a customer standing without acknowledgment. It was clear that Ms. Cooper saw me, yet she did not return to assist or provide any update.
Kaiser should consider retraining Ms. Cooper on customer service expectations, as no patient should be treated in this manner. While Mr. Hennigan represented Kaiser exceptionally well, my experience with Ms. Cooper significantly diminished the overall quality of my visit.
Declining Care
We have been California Kaiser members for over 20 years and are considering leaving, though we know this will raise our health premiums considerably. I suffer from a chronic medical condition and am currently being treated by several specialists. The main issue is that they don’t listen when I describe my symptoms- without proof, they decide on a diagnosis and will not budge from their decision. I have pleaded for some testing numerous times and they refuse. They do not coordinate my treatment with each other either. My PCP, while nice. defers to the specialists and is ineffectual. I’ve had several visits to the ER and usually do not encounter long wait times. The nurses in the ER are mostly helpful but the doctors mostly want to see you quickly and get you out. They defer on the side of “no testing” and send you back to your specialist who does nothing. Of the many I have seen, only 2 or 3 were compassionate and helpful, some were outright hostile, dismissive and condescending. I need to find a doctor that will diagnose and treat me.
AMAZING care
I am 54 and have all types of great insurance. Since Nov 2025 I have had Kaiser. Talk about a well oiled machine! The care I have received has been amazing - and I have a lot of health challenges including a surgery.
0 stars if I could
I rescheduled my daughter's appointment but whoever spoke to me never processed the rescheduled appointment. Showed up today at Harbor-Mac location and the receptionist told me I'm at the wrong location. She didn't offer to help with rescheduling. Didn't apologize. Said "There is no record of any request to reschedule, but you still have time to get to the Brea location", which is 30 mins and 18 mi away. My daughter is >12 so I cannot see her appointments on my KP app. We tried opening her an account on her own and the app doesn't allow us. When called to get technical assistant, they talk to you like you're a child and stupid. Did you enter a different email and not your own? The disrespect from the staff and this organization is unreal.
Do Not Believe What They Say!
This customer service team does not know what they are doing. They will lie to you when they don't know the answer. They will waste your time and lie to you!
I am a new member to Kaiser as of…
I am a new member to Kaiser as of January 1, 2026 with a Medicare Advantage Plan. The on-boarding experience was very exhaustive and timely; from various technical challenges, misinformation, and unnecessary company protocols...I finally was able to book my first office visit with a Primary Care Physician on January 28, 2026.
Prior to and after my initial Primary Care appointment; there has been nothing but chaos between communicating with Member Services who seem to be clueless...I have to call and speak with multiple representatives to get a correct answer to a direct question; mass incompetency and miscommunication. Also, to date, I have yet to receive any promised callbacks from reps and Supervisors who not only agreed to do so, but also provided me with so-called direct callback numbers that did not even belong to them...? Just a lot of unnecessary passing-the-buck and duplication. They have even suggested that I utilize an email messaging option to contact my Primary Care Physician for which I have tried with no response, however I receive emails from other departments 2 - 3 times per week with various requests that have nothing to do with my direct concerns...
Kaiser promotes itself as a one-stop-shop for Healthcare, but operates more like a catastrophe waiting to happen...there just seems to be a major disconnect throughout the organization...very dysfunctional.
Respectfully,
Alex
Kaiser Permanente Federal plans are a joke
Even Kaiser Permanente Federal plans are a joke. It seems like all their doctors are either hand tight and have to follow bureaucratic procedures or just the worst ones. Any procedure you ask for takes a lot of back and forward to get it even order. Then wait months to get it done, if you were lucky to get it ordered. Plain advice, RUN AWAY of any KP Plan.
Kaiser lacks empathy if you are sick…
Kaiser lacks empathy if you are sick and in need of long term disability and you are in pain and multiple things wrong with you. THEY DONT HELP YOU. They send you to pain mgt but keep working until you drop dead. DONT ELECT KAISER FOR HEALTH INSURANCE.
I finally found a doctor that listened…
I finally found a doctor that listened to my requests and did not question what I wanted. She gave her opinion but honored my requests for certain tests that I wanted. I really appreciate this and this is what medecine is truly about. My doctor is Joanna Marie Duquette at Santa Monica Kaiser. Excellent!!!!
Kaiser permanente is very deceptive in…
Kaiser permanente is very deceptive in their billing practices, they force us to pay effortlessly but when they fail to acknowledge our payments, we have to use an old out dated and laborious way, write a letter, print out proof of payment, though it’s direct debited and write a handwritten or typed posted letter, with proof of payment.
Also, they don’t issue cards without reminders have a hopeless customer service line and altogether do not disclose payment information regularly or via email notifications.
Finally they send me a bill for 1800 dollars and say I didn’t pay any premium.
I searched and I know I paid my premiums diligently , and all I get is ; we are going through your submitted complaint but if I need to correct it, it’s cumbersome.
Worst experience and very out dated when we are in this right side and very forceful with threatening wording when they need a payment, even if it’s direct debit.
I have to go through a long process and incur additional postage charges to prove myself and that I paid my premiums diligently.
Please just choose Anthem, my mistake I always love how user friendly Anthem is. They resolve issues quickly and we get to talk to competent service representatives who help .
This is sorely lacking in Kaiser.
Who wants surprise expenses and to read that they have taken the money but not accounted for it with insane billing breakdowns, in addition to the adjusted insurance premiums, that are insane . Do we get immediate support?
No ! We are told to post proof to an address and unfortunately that’s all that can be done to prove we paid our deductible.
Hopeless all around! I can only imagine how actual coverage may fail to protect me and I will go to Anthem, as my dental and vision have been smooth sailing for a decade now. No hiccups no issues whatsoever and I regret I chose Kaiser at all .
Kaiser really takes us around the bend and doesn’t have any customer/ member friendly and direct resolution options.
Kaiser is the worst of the worst
Kaiser is the worst of the worst! Avoid stall and delay killing thousands. Mental health is a JOKE! Yashadora Rao and Daniel Woody are laughable clowns complicit in stealing your money and sitting on their fat butts doing zero! You've been warned avoid KP ask them why most of their staff is striking ? Why did they just pay $30 million to the feds for denying mental health care? KP is a JOKE you can do better anywhere. Dump KP now make them accountable.
