Buyer Beware!

Buyer beware! This company is the worst. Terrible customer service/support. I honestly wish I had checked Trustpilot before ordering. Don't believe the hype. There are much, much better alternatives on the market from companies that won't try to scam you.

Good keyboards, with a reactive customer service.

Third product I ordered from Keychron in 5 years, and never had any trouble with the products.

The last keyboard I ordered, about a month ago, was lost by the local courrier (La Poste, France). The customer service emailed me to see if I've received my order, which wasn't the case.

I had to send them a proof that my order was lost, and they resent me the exact same order in a week.

Seeing all other negative reviews, maybe I am just a lucky customer, but for me it's a reliable site with good keyboards.

Terrible Customer Service

The keyboard they sent me had an uneven space bar. Very annoying problem as it would push down on either side (much like a teeter totter).

Customer service was less than helpful. After a lot of back and forth and mostly me chasing, they eventually decide they will send me a new space bar. That would be great had I actually received it.

Decent keyboards but can't recommend.

K4 Pro fragrance for Her and Him

K4 Pro fragrance for Her and Him

I ordered and have received the K4 Pro. I made the mistake of ordering it directly from the German Keychron online shop thinking that I am shopping from the EU, alas it is China so it took 2 weeks to arrive and they provided me with a dead tracking link. I contacted support to ask what is going on after over 10 days but soon after I got a message from my local post office that the parcel had arrived.

The packaging (both external and the keyboard box) is descent enough. It arrived without dents or any damage. However...

When I opened the product packaging, I instantly smelled a very intense odour like a "sweet" version of naphthalene. It turns out that Keychron dips their silicone key pads into some kind of perfume. Yes folks you receive a scented keyboard LMAO. The smell is extremely strong and people on forums and reddit have reported that the smell doesnt go away even after 3-5 months of the keyboard being out in the open, in windy conditions! Who in their right mind would dip an internal keyboard component into pungent perfume? Is this s*** even toxic? People also report ichy fingers and skin... I am a bit concerned, ngl.

It is a BT / wired keyboard. But it comes without the BT dongle! Why? Are new cars sold without seats? Are phones sold without screens? All wireless keyboards come with their dongle but not Keychron; I need to pay another 10 euro for it and worst of all the included Type A-C USB cable is only 1 meter long. Of course, it is meant for recharging but they advertise that the keyboard can function normally in cable mode. Then there is the matter of the 4000 mAh battery. If I use the K4 only in wired mode, am i safe with it only 40cm from my face or not?

Support takes an eternity to answer and lets be honest, they cant be that busy. Keychron is not Logitech or Corsair. I sent them an email with a bunch of questions, I hope they answer soon because I read the reviews about their support and things dont look good at all.

Anyway, to be fair I guess, there are good points too. The Keyboard is well made. The backlight looks nice (I have it on steady red color) but the Numlock key has white backlight which stands out against the red as if that led was failing. If I press the key and lock the numpad area, then the led turns red and matches the rest. This is a design feature that DOES NOT belong on this keyboard.

The K4 Pro looks nice, its heavy and solid, keystrokes are very satisfying (mechanical red MX), there is no "ping" sound like on Corsair keyboards and nothing extra that makes a keyboard look like it was made in Tony Stark;s laboratory, like Logitech. The price is a fairly descent "scam" of 99 euro + 10 euro hidden cost with no explantion what this is + 20 euro transportation from China. The hidden cost maybe assembly costs since the product can be sent unassembled if the client wants but it is a scam because no explanation and also no mentioning that the Bluetooth dongle is not part of the deal. Unacceptable. Charge me a bit more but send me the darn keyboard with ALL connectivity options a-vai-la-ble.

Keychron seems to be an existing entity of a company but with terrible customer support, horrible refund policy and scetchy sales tactics. I have to now wait and use the keyboard to see how long it will last within a 1 year warranty, hopefully more, I don't know what to do with the missing BT dongle, the perfume stench is a nightmarish, saturating, smell buds - penetrating, possibly toxic, faulty execution of some over enthusiastic employee somewhere in Keychron. A total and utter fail.

Buy Keychron products at your own risk. This is a cautionary review and if you receive a keyboard that smells like an 100 year-old house attic, DO NOT TOUCH YOUR EYES OR FACE.

Edit 15/4/2023 I received the answer-email from their horendous support. I asked 6 questions (BT, odour, functionality, backlight issue etc) and their answer was "put the K4P to air for 2 days, thanks."...
AHAHAHAHA pathetic employees in a joke company!

Will lie and claim the refund failed, when really, they stole from you

After sending your keyboard to a customer, I have yet to receive a refund or be contacted by a team member with a potential solution to providing me with my money. Is this the kind of service that you provide customers? Where is my money? Not only are you not refunding me for me order by stating that it’s an “issue with my bank” but your company also refused to compensate me for the shipping fees associated with mailing it to your customer.

I NEED THIS RESOLVED! YOU ARE STEALING FROM YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!

Terrible Company (Lies about Shipping)

Terrible Company

I'm so turned off by this company before the product has even arrived. They set up a Canadian website to make it appear as if they have a Canadian location that their products ship from. The website said they would use DHL to ship so I paid $60 for shipping on a $120 keyboard. After a few days I receive a tracking number that doesn't look like any that I've seen before. When I clicked it on the email and through the Shop app, it would take me to a random Italian site that said the tracking number wasn't theirs. After using the tracking number format to research on Google, I find that it's a chinese company called SunYou and that its shipping from China. It's been 2 weeks now, I still don't have my keyboard and I'm pretty annoyed to say the least that they charged me $60 for this shipping and lying about it being through DHL. I can only imagine what a headache I will have with this company if there is an issue with the product. Please DO NOT purchase from this company if customer support is important to you.

Keychron didn't collect return from Chinese customs

Didn't realise they were shipping from China. Keyboard arrived, it was okay but problems with space bar. Eventually they agreed to take it back after I went through Paypal, but I had to arrange the return. Anyway after weeks and weeks of the tracking saying it's in Chinese customs, it turned out Keychron simply didn't want to go and pick it up from customs because they would have to pay duty. At which point you find out that your Paypal Buyers Protection doesn't cover you because the product has been in transit so long.

Avoid Keychron

Keyboard good-ish but Keychron UK Support is dreadful. The keyboard that I received had to be flashed and I then had to fix the keyboard definition file as it was corrupt. There are multiple sets of instructions and files on the Keychron website that are out-of-date.

Avoid keychron - Buy anything else

The keyboards look good and are cheap but they are unusable.
On average, the firmware crashes 4/5 times a day.
The Bluetooth mostly does not work (latency of around 10-15 seconds and a packet loss of 70%+).
Even if you use wired you will still get duplicated key strokes, looping key strokes, hard crashes, and the lovely 10 minutes of bricked keyboard every day.

PCB problem

Dear Keychron Team,

I am writing to express my disappointment with the lack of commitment in resolving the issue I have been facing with my Keychron keyboard. I purchased the keyboard only three months ago and I have already encountered a problem with the PCB hardware. I contacted your customer support team immediately and was told that a replacement PCB would be sent to me as soon as possible.

However, it has been two months since I raised the issue and I am yet to receive the replacement PCB. I have been in touch with your customer service team several times during this period and each time I am told that the production team has not yet made the PCB available for shipment. I am finding it difficult to believe that a company that relies heavily on PCBs for its products does not have one available for a customer who has been waiting for two months.

As a loyal customer who has always appreciated the quality and innovation of your products, I am disappointed with the lack of attention and urgency given to my issue. I rely heavily on my keyboard for my work and having it malfunctioning for such a long time is causing me a lot of inconvenience.

I kindly request that you look into this matter urgently and provide me with a clear timeline for when I can expect to receive the replacement PCB. I believe that as a reputable company, you should be able to resolve this issue promptly and ensure that your customers are satisfied with their purchases.

I hope to hear from you soon and look forward to a satisfactory resolution to this matter.

Sincerely,

Renato Parente

I have a K2 V2 that broke only after one month of use. Its Bluetooth connection became unstable on Mac OS and Windows alike. Updating its firmware did not help.

Keychron refused to repair it, although I had stated I would pay for the repair. They informed that they cannot do it.

Their products aren't terrible but they're also not great. Overpriced and very ugly to be honest. In my case I had missing tools in the box and their poor pathetic customer service goes and refuses to take any responsibility. They'll keep asking you to look in the box (3+ times in my case), like you're an idiot and haven't looked already before emailing to dodge compensating the customer. Don't recommend buying from them directly.

A real solid 3 stars

Keychron seem to have become the default quick-and-easy fix for getting yourself a mechanical keyboard at the moment, so I felt it'd be worth writing about how I've found using the K2 for a few months. I've got the metal-framed, RGB model, version 2, with Gateron Red switches (ie. linear).

Coming from a rubber-dome keyboard, this thing does feel pretty good to type on. I'd recommend *not* using the tilt stands; they don't help ergonomics at all. The keyboard is actually tilted slightly upwards without the stands. Keychron's palm rest also seems to make things more comfortable.

There are a few complaints, though. The lack of 2.4GHz wireless connectivity (ie. with a USB dongle) kinda sucks. The included cable is nice, but I'd like to use this wirelessly without Bluetooth, because I use it with a KVM (and, yknow, Bluetooth is horrible).

The RGB selection button in the top right is a little too easy to hit when pressing the Del key. This means you then have to mash it a few more times to get back to the lighting mode you were on previously, because it cycles the modes.

Finally, the symbols on the keycaps don't look fantastic. The 'Windows key' looks pretty wonky and is the wrong way round, presumably to avoid seeking permission from Microsoft. The F1-F12 text is tiny, the right Control key has basically no margin, and (in my opinion) the font they've chosen isn't the nicest on the eyes.

One last thing to mention: customer service. I had a faulty board, and in fairness to them they did replace it with an entirely new keyboard- BUT, this was only after 3 weeks' back-and-forth with them asking me to prove that the keyswitches for some keys weren't working - using an online keychecker. Trivially, it's not possible to specifically see that they're *not* working on a keychecker! Their staff seemed to struggle with this concept, but I think I eventually got a supervisor who just yeeted me a replacement.
