I bought from here quite regularly during my 15 years as director of a university rare book library, as did one of our major donors for much longer. Obviously the quality and interest of the stock was the main drawing card, but the cataloguing descriptions were accurate and truthful, the pricing was realistic, and items we ordered arrive well-packed and in good shape. Neither the library nor the donor were buying more than one or two items at a time, and budgets limited even that, but we never had a bad experience; this is rightly among the most highly-respected British antiquarian bookshops.

I have had dealing with Ken Spelman Books for about a decade. I've found them friendly and reliable with the kind of books and manuscripts I find most attractive. The prices are also very reasonable, and the service impeccable.
