HAD TO PUT OUR 7 MONTH PUPPY TO REST…

HAD TO PUT OUR 7 MONTH PUPPY TO REST AFTER GENETICAL KIDNEY DISEASE - AVOID KELLYS KENNELS AT ALL COSTS!
We purchased a beagle from Kellys Kennels back in August, on arrival the kennels was busy with 2 young girls working on this day. Families and couples picking up dogs with no signs of patrolling of the staff and asking if anyone is okay just a free for all. After seeing an amazing quiet beagle at the back of his kennel being the last of his litter we fell in love with him. Asked further questions about the pup to be lied to about his age being 5 weeks older than we got told when getting home, NOT BEING ALLOWED TO SEE MUM and no questions based on are we fit to own a dog we was allowed to just pay and walk away within less than an hour. Yes these are red flags looking back but as a young couple with high emotions and being our first dog in our first home it didn't cross our minds. The following day he was riddled in eat mites which he was put on medication for. Every check at the vets we was told he is progressing amazingly with his health and weight. We treated him like a literal child the most spoilt and cared for pup you could imagine, changing our way of life to grow our little pup.

Until 2 months went by when he became ill he got rushed to the vets then onto petmedics hospital to stay over for 3 nights. We got called in to find out our pup had genetical kidney disease and they are trying everything they can to help save the virus he has caught from having kidneys like a 12 year old dog. If he survived he would have bigger change of life with foods and risk of muzzle to make sure he doesn't eat anything of the floor on walks or home due to the fact his kidneys do not have the same lining which helps eliminate toxins which then causes him to shut down. He came home after the 3 nights but no signs of improvement with no eating or movement, he slept so much compared to his shallow 7/8 hours being such an energetic pup. Within a few days he was back in staying for a further 3 nights, then we got the call that it's end of life. A vet bill of over £8,000 luckily insurance helped towards this but didn't help that we have had to put our puppy down less than 3 months of purchasing from Kellys Kennels.

On Kellys Kennels terms and conditions it states 'good health' - means a condition of health free of parasites and hereditary disorders and physical condition. This wasn't the case with our pup.

To find out later this kennel is linked to the puppy breeding farm in Fivemiletown in northern Ireland is heartbreaking to say its a money scam! To put making money before puppies health and families love for these pups is unbelievable, to say they make millions of pounds a year and behind close doors they are breeding 300+ dogs in tiny kennels sent over on wagons to the UK is sickening. Yes 5+ years ago families got dogs what are healthy and living a great life but since before covid their minds have changed the love for dogs have changed for money.

Please please do your research now! We are still very proud to give him the best quality of life in such a short period of time rather than him suffering quietly in them rotten kennels!

People say it's your own fault for funding these puppy farms which we wasn't aware of but after our experience we are now spreading awareness to STAY AWAY from Kelly's Kennels.

Firstly, we would like to express our deepest sympathy for the heartbreaking loss of your puppy. We can see how much love and care you gave him, and it’s truly devastating to hear what you’ve gone through in such a short period of time.

At Kellys Kennels, the health and wellbeing of our puppies is our top priority. All puppies leave us with a health check and under veterinary supervision, and we strive to ensure they are going to loving, well-prepared homes. However, we understand that despite these efforts, unforeseen genetic conditions can sadly and unexpectedly emerge.

We are genuinely sorry to hear about your experience, and we want to acknowledge that at no point were we contacted or made aware of your puppy’s condition following his initial sale. We have also still not been informed directly by yourself we are only aware of the situation via social media. Had we been informed, we would have done everything we could to support you and offer guidance through the process. Communication is key in these situations, and we regret that an opportunity for open dialogue was missed during this difficult time.

We also take your feedback seriously regarding your visit to our kennels. We are reviewing how we manage customer interactions and the clarity of information provided, especially when it comes to meeting parent dogs, asking the right questions, and ensuring new owners feel supported throughout.

Regarding the broader claims you’ve mentioned, we want to assure you that Kellys Kennels operates within strict UK and Northern Ireland animal welfare regulations. Our puppies are bred and cared for in licensed, regulated environments, and we remain fully committed to the ethical treatment of all animals in our care.

We sincerely wish your experience had been different, and we truly appreciate you sharing your story. If you feel comfortable doing so, we would be happy to speak with you directly to better understand the situation and see if there is any way we can support you.

Sincerely,
The Kellys Kennels Team

It’s morally wrong to buy from this N.Ireland puppy farm

Do not buy from here unless you want to encourage puppy farming, because they are a 300 kennel licensed puppy farm in Ireland, shipping over hundreds of cut price dogs. You will never see the mother (absolutely essential) although they will show you a photo of some random dog of the same breed, nor the conditions in which they are bred in Ireland. Go to a proper breeder where you can see the puppies with their mother. Yes, you may get a healthy dog from here but there are reviews on here which show this is not always the case. I almost bought a puppy from here, placed a deposit, but the next morning when I had read reviews I pulled out. I could not buy from a puppy farm. Deposit not returned as I had signed a form! I later found a good breeder who had the mother and father at home with the puppies. Yes, I paid a lot more for a kc registered dog but I know where it has come from and my conscience is clear that I have not encouraged another puppy farm. Please think before you buy from here.
Google Warrington guardian’s article on puppy farming September 2024 and BBC’s documentary

In reply to the comment below- I visited the kennels (near Warrington) on the 8th May and spent an hour there, paid a deposit on a puppy but pulled out. So my review is not from someone who has never visited you, unless you are referring to your 300 kennels in N. I. Yes, they are licensed in Northern Ireland to breed 300 puppies. Is that where you really want your puppy to come from, without seeing it with it's mother?

To clarify, we are a fully licensed and regulated establishment, operating within strict guidelines set by the relevant authorities. All our puppies are health-checked, vaccinated, and come with appropriate documentation. We do our best to provide information to help reassure buyers about the puppy’s background.

It’s worth noting that during your visit on May 8th, you spent considerable time at our premises, met with our staff, and were happy enough with what you saw to place a deposit. Your decision to cancel the next day was based on online comments, not your direct experience with us. While we completely understand that people can change their minds, our deposit policy clearly outlined and agreed upon at the time of payment exists to protect both parties fairly.

We encourage all prospective pet owners to do thorough research and make informed decisions. We support responsible ownership and want every puppy to go to a loving, committed home. If you’d like to discuss anything further, we’re always happy to talk.

Avoid like the plague

Purchased our bocker (beagle/cockerspaniel) puppy from here in January 2022. Fell in love with him and his brother when we first seen them. We have always had dogs our last being a husky (who are very hard to train) who passed away in 2020 so we felt ready to welcome a new dog into the house. He was fine at first like a normal playful puppy but at about 6 months old he became super aggressive and it was like a switch turned in him and he wouldn’t know what was going on himself. When we took him to the vets and explained how he was and they asked where he’d been purchased from they instantly told us it’s a puppy farm. We also contacted the dogs trust to see if they could offer us training (which they did but it didn’t work) and they also told us Kelly’s kennels was a puppy farm. Over the 2 years we had Reggie he got progressively more aggressive to the point we couldn’t have visitors in the house. We changed his food as per instructions from the vet to see if it was a gastro issue, we had blood tests completed but couldn’t find a resolution. Eventually at the beginning of 2024 after discussions with the vets and between our family we decided the best thing for Reggie was for him to be put to sleep as we believe he had a neurologically issue and it was clear he wasn’t in a good state of mind most of the time. (This is a very very long story short).

If you type Kelly’s kennels into google there are plenty of reports/panorama documentaries about where they bread their puppies in Northern Ireland. Yes they might be above board here but they are importing dogs from NI who are just breeding machines tho them to make money and sending puppies under 8 weeks old over here away from their mums.
Looking back it was completely obvious when we arrived this was a puppy farm - mum wasn’t available to be seen with the puppies she was brought round (looking super tired and was obvious she’d literally just given birth so I would question if she was even our puppy mum as he was meant to be 10 weeks old).
Mums should be in with the puppies! Number 1 red flag!!
There shouldn’t be that many different puppies available for sale, how do they keep track of them all or make sure they are all fed properly etc when there are only a few members of staff- another red flag!
& it’s funny how all the positive 5* reviews of recent are those who’ve had their dogs for years and are very happy with them - clearly set up if you ask me!
I don’t doubt some of the puppies will live long healthy and happy lives however, it’s completely unethical what they are doing and in our poor Reggie’s case we chose to put him out of his misery before he got any worse and I’ve seen numerous similar cases. Like I said we’ve always had dogs, hard to train dogs be it that and never ever had a dog or even come across a dog who acted how Reggie did. It was super sad to watch an animal deteriorate as he did and look so confused not knowing what he was doing when he was attacking us.
If vets and the likes of dogs trust say this place is a puppy farm then it’s quite clear that it is!!
Do not buy a dog from here, it’s us purchasing from these places keeping them in business!
I’d also like to note it was clear from the member of staff we spoke to when purchasing that it was a suspicious place , she kind of warned us not to purchase but we fell in love to completely disregarded what she said!

We’re deeply sorry to hear about your experience with Reggie, and we truly sympathize with how distressing it must have been for you and your family. No one ever wants to see their pet suffer, and we wish things had turned out differently for you.

That said, we must address the many inaccurate and misleading statements made in your review.

Firstly, we are not a puppy farm. We are a fully licensed, regulated establishment, operating under strict animal welfare standards with routine inspections. All of our puppies are bred in compliant facilities and cared for by trained professionals, with veterinary oversight from birth through to the point they go to their new homes.

While it’s very easy for assumptions to be made based on emotion or third-party opinions, it is not accurate or fair to call our operation unethical simply because of a challenging experience — especially when no professional diagnosis of a neurological issue was confirmed. Aggression in dogs can result from a wide variety of factors, including genetics, environment, training, trauma, and diet — and not solely from their place of birth.

You also mention our staff “warned” you not to buy — this is completely false, and incredibly damaging. Our staff are trained to provide transparent information, and we do not operate under any pressure-selling tactics.

It’s important to note that vets or charities expressing personal opinions about breeders without firsthand knowledge of our facilities does not make those opinions fact. We always welcome in-person visits and conversations with anyone who wishes to better understand our practices. Many of our families remain in contact with us for years, sharing updates about their dogs’ happy, healthy lives — those reviews are genuine.

We are incredibly sorry that things did not work out for you with Reggie. But to use a heartbreaking personal situation to discredit a fully licensed and compliant breeder, based on assumptions and hearsay, is both unfair and untrue.

If anyone has concerns or questions, we encourage you to speak with us directly or arrange a visit. We have nothing to hide and are proud of the care, love, and professionalism we bring to every single puppy’s start in life.

Visited the kennels on two previous…

Visited the kennels on two previous occasions to get a feel for the organisation and the breeds on offer, The staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming and the puppies looked in good health, I purchased a cavapoo and have to say he is absolutely adorable, He was a bit timid at first which is normal in new surroundings but within a few hours was playing with our cat.
Was given a comprehensive puppy pack and safe in the knowledge I could contact them with any questions, I am very pleased with my purchase from them.

Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful review! We’re really pleased to hear that you visited us more than once to get a feel for everything that’s exactly the kind of careful, responsible approach we encourage.

It’s wonderful to know your new Cavapoo is settling in so well, and even making friends with the cat already! Timidness at first is completely normal, as you mentioned, and it sounds like he’s adjusting beautifully.

We’re always here if you have any questions or need support as he grows. Thank you again for choosing us to find your fur baby !

We understand that there’s a lot of misinformation online, but we encourage anyone with genuine concerns to look beyond hearsay and visit us or speak to us directly. We are a fully licensed, regularly inspected establishment operating within strict welfare guidelines.

Our priority is and always has been the health and well-being of our puppies. We’re proud of our standards and the many happy families who have welcomed our dogs into their homes.

Please do avoid this place

Please do avoid this place. They try to fool you by claiming they care about their pups while breeding them by the hundreds in one of the largest vile puppy farms in Northern Ireland if not Europe. Money grubbers taking advantages of loopholes in the legislation and people's naivety, do not contribute to animals suffering by buying puppies from them .

We strongly reject these claims, which are based on misinformation and not on any firsthand experience with our facility.

We are a fully licensed and regulated breeder, operating under strict animal welfare standards. Our premises are routinely inspected by local authorities, and we are transparent with our process from care routines to veterinary oversight. We do not “mass breed” nor cut corners, and every puppy is raised with care, socialization, and individual attention.

It’s easy to make assumptions or repeat claims found online, but we encourage anyone with genuine concerns to speak with us directly or arrange a visit. We stand by the quality of care we provide and are proud of the many happy, healthy dogs we’ve helped place into loving homes.

Spreading false or exaggerated claims does nothing to help animals responsible, informed decisions do.

Avoid!

Where do I start? My first impression of the place, Kellys Kennels was a very small building with the puppies kept in cubicles on a bed of what looks like wood shavings (easy to jump out of), they were provided with water, food, toys and the puppies looked healthy, however I got the impression the staff just wanted a quick sale, they were rude from the off, were not very helpful and never gave any info on the puppy’s parents (I purchased), despite the contract I signed, stating I would be given information on mum and dad before I bought my dog and the lady who sold him to me, promising to email information to me, told me on the day I bought him her printer was broke. I have sent photos of my dog to Kellys Kennels but weirdly they don’t seem to be interested in him, despite advertising on their website they support you after you buy your puppy (this is a lie they don’t answer phone or email, they no longer have Instagram or facebook, funnily enough). The only positive thing I have got from this place is my dog, it’s a shame I can’t say the same thing about the people selling the puppies.

Bought my dachshund from here in jan 2021

After bringing my puppy home she was being sick a lot and ear infection as well as making a funny sound when breathing !
Also started with hair loss
I went to my vet who was treating the ear infection and hair loss as mites under the skin
Also had to have lots and lots of different blood test and scans as just wasn’t getting any better ! It then resulted in my poor girl being hospitalised for kennel cough and put on oxygen and Iv drips and scan with a possible liver problem?

Luckily after 2 days and thousands spent she came home and is in the best place

Please no one buy from them there’s so much neglect there all so scared the pups and noticed alot of them including mine when visiting a lot of saliva coming from there mouth as there so frightened

After contacting due to my pups poor health they are not interested and have very bad attitudes
