My purchase arrived with parts missing that were clearly shown in the auction picture's. On contacting John Pye, a helpful customer service lady called May arranged collection of the faulty item free of charge and once they received it back issued a full refund.
Very helpful and good to deal with.
I made a mistake with the shipping address and I was really worried I'd have to chase up the courier company to get it changed but Camilla was kind enough to sort it all out in no time at all

After I made a mistake on my invoice I spoke to Donna at the Marchington site. She was so helpful and personable. Nothing was too much trouble and it was all efficiently sorted. I regularly use John Pye and have never been disappointed - thank you

I like the photos and the way the description shows what you are bidding on, along with the trusted knowledge all the items are verified. Dealing with the staff, by way of email, they are friendly and helpful

Recently John Pye Luxury has really slipped below par. I do ALOT of research before purchasing any goods to re-sell on my website at profit. I’ve been a customer for some 5 years now. I generally know which sites to avoid and which to use. I recently bid and won a fair few desirable designer apparel. One item was an ALL SAINTS(designer) WHITE KNITTED dress & cropped jumper combo with all tags. On-line there were NO marks on the dress. Once I opened the box I could see black finger marks over the dress in 4 places I even found a partial foot print. This is simply unacceptable when vast amounts of money are exchanging hands. Normally the boxes arrive from JP stinking of sweat. Another designer jumper label at £250 arrived with 2 large coffee stains on. Again the photos showed nothing.
JP please get the Luxury Goods People who package the boxes to wash their hands every now and again and pop some deodorant on. If it was run of the mill stuff I would understand but Luxury Goods? Also, PLEASE STOP PUTTING THE JOHN PYE STICKERS ON THE LABELS. It takes so long to unstick if we choose to resell goods we have paid for.

Use this company at your peril. They are a pack of charlatans.
I bought a gold necklace that was supposed to be 18 carat. This cost over £3000 yes £3000.
It was only 9 carat so only worth half of that money.
The lobster claw clasp was also broken. The same lobster claw was CLEARLY stamped as 9 carat.
I contacted them and they said there must have been a mistake in the listing...This immediately raised concerns with me because what do they ALWAYS say?
You have chance to view the item so there is no comeback. Read all the other reviews.
While on that comeback of you have chance to view they always say. Contact trading standards. They have a duty to point out any obvious things wrong with any item. For example if there is a clear bit missing or damage they have a duty to mention it in the listing. As I say contact trading standards or citizens advice who will tell you how to proceed under consumer rights law.
Getting back to my original problem. You might make a mistake saying an item is large size when it is small.
You do not make a mistake in a listing on a £3000 item.
Do they do it the other way.
I think this was a deliberate attempt at fraud.
I said I would take the item to the assay office for testing....I would have kept if it was 18ct even though it was plainly damaged.
The assay office confirmed it was only 9ct.
When I contacted John Pye they were all oh we are sorry. Return the item and we will pay the £84 assay office fee.
When the item was returned guess what they said they wew not paying the £84 because I could have returned it and they would have tested it for me.....That was never mentioned until after it was returned.
Upshot is their attempt at fraud cost me £84 and a day travelling to Sheffield and back.
They are absolute charlatans who should not be allowed to operate an auction house. Trading standards informed if everybody does likewise this place will be closed down.

They actively deceive, passively lie and deliberately remain obtuse when contacted. I have had two issues where they knowingly sold not just faulty but not working electrical devices.
I attended in person and was told I could not test the item as the cable to test was missing. I asked if the item was checked to see if it was working and was assured it was. When I received it at home it never worked.
I raised a complaint identifying the issues and demonstrating that I had viewed the item. I was told that the purchase was at the buyers discretion.
So I threatened to report the issue to the Bank that issued payment for their fraud department to recover my money. That sorted the issue, John Pye agreed to refund my payment on the proviso I did not contact my bank, which in its self says a lot.
Complete gangsters, avoid, avoid, avoid.

Be wary of bidding online. An item that should not have been listed due to hazardous conditions was auctioned. Pictures of the item purposely avoided the damaged area, the company will not help you here.
Recommend viewing items in person only.

Love buying boxes from here .some times it's like Christmas as sometimes you don't know what's in the boxes .the only thing is hammer price .vat. and delivery that bumps up the price

A very disappointing experience from John Pye on this occasion, and it appears to be a trend.
First time purchasing in a Luxury auction, after many in the general auctions and vehicle.
Charged £12 postage, for what was posted as a 75g letter in a standard padded envelope.
The two items purchased, in a Luxury auction, are basic costume bracelet jewellery, only long enough for a child’s wrist.
Totally misrepresented.
In my humble opinion John Pye are now ripping people off.

Fantastic range of items at competitive prices, picked-up a watch after talking to the very helpful staff. Would definitely recommend.
