Joey Readership started from a simple interest in how readers actually find books. I spend time looking closely at books, their positioning, comparable titles, the language readers use when searching for something to read, and the different ways a book can become recognizable to the right audience. I research the wider discovery environment around a book to understand how it is currently being presented, where it fits among comparable books, what potential readers may recognize in it, and where there may be opportunities to make that connection clearer. Through the Book Discovery Assessment, I bring that research together into a practical document that gives authors a clearer view of their book, its positioning, and the readers they are trying to reach.
