Ruined my designer jacket with shoddy workmanship

Do NOT recommend for alterations. I had sleeves shortened on an expensive designer jacket and they ruined it. Instead of shortening it from the shoulder (as they said they would) they did it from the cuff (which originally had 3 button holes and 3 buttons each side). They cut the sleeve hems and along with it 2 of the button holes on each sleeve, so each sleeve was left with only 1 button (and they didn't even return the remaining 4 buttons, presumably hoping I would not notice 4 buttons missing!). The button on each sleeve was at different lengths to the sleeve edge! I complained as soon as I saw all the shoddy work. They tried to fix the shoddy work (and assured me a professional tailor would be able to do a proper repair job) by putting in 2 new button holes on each cuff, but the new button holes were not straight and too close together, so the buttons were cramped, touching! The bottom button on each sleeve is only 2mm from the cuff edge and looks ridiculous! Buttons aside, even the sleeve hems were not straight! The compensation finally offered did not cover the cost of the jacket at all, Patrick Timpson argued I could buy a similar jacket for lower price and even referred me to a second hand website - even though my jacket was still available at FULL PRICE! At the time I was preoccupied with an illness in the family and could not deal with this additional stress - I made it clear to Patrick Timpson (I believe he's the owner's son) he had "worn me down" and I reluctantly accepted the much reduced compensation that did not cover the cost of my jacket. I am not a tailor but, without doubt, I could have done a better job. It is clear to me that, since being acquired by Timpsons, Jeeves of Belgravia is no longer what it used to be and it does not use professional tailors for its alterations work. They should be stripped of their Royal Warrant because it gives the Royal Household a bad name (customers rely on the Royal Warrant as a sign of excellence). I would give zero star review, but it's not possible to do that, hence why my rating is 1 star.

Are you sitting down?

Are you sitting down?

You will need to be when you find out how much they charge.

I had a suit dry cleaned (with extra trousers) and the fee? Nearly £90. Perhaps that is just me, but I find that exorbitant and unnecessary. There is a reason there isn't a price list online or in store.

Perhaps if the service was flawless- but it isn't. They managed to incorrectly press the wrong crease in the jacket ruining the roll of the lapel (a standard 2 button, notched) and now the drape when wearing the suit isn't right.

Helpfully when I questioned the price, and who else is charging similar to them they recommended Elias Dry Cleaners. Turns out they are much cheaper, so thank you for that.

Best avoided.
