Been going to jd gyms for just under 2 years, the machines are literally never working you go into the womens section which has one towing machine. That hasn’t been working for nearly a year never had batteries in it. Now the strap has broken which keeps your feet in place has been broken months!! No one has fixed, go to the main areas same thing with them rowing machine either the straps will be broken or no new batteries have been put in. There will always be machines out of order, honestly for how much they charge they should keep up with maintaining equipment.

Honestly annoyed that I've been suspended because I apparently left 200kg on bench press bar. Who benches 200kg at bodyweight of 56kg? Absolutely insane, been banned for that and I was using dumbells that day. So either the manager has completely lost the plot or they need to repair their cameras.

Poor experience
Review for JD Gym - Luton. I'm seeing a lot of generic corporate default responses, but all this does is show there's no actual consideration of the problem at hand. They have removed their studio and punch bags and now this gym has lost its USP. Generic overcrowded gym now.
Also their access doesn't work a lot of the time, making 24 hour access more theoretical. If you leave the gym, then you can't enter again on the same day!

Don’t bother
Can’t believe they haven’t changed their pricing for gym membership after getting rid of the studio room so no more classes or ANYWHERE TO STRETCH and let’s not forget removing the boxing bags. You really need to change the pricing expect people to pay full price still when you’re removing a lot of equipment?? No one is going to travel all the way to Milton Keynes just to get a better gym experience if it ain’t broke don’t fix it there was no need to remove the studio room but you need to change the pricing of Luton JD gyms when we don’t have access to the facilities we had before I’m going to be looking for another gym as this one has turned into an absolute Sheet show

I’m genuinely shocked and disappointed to see the studio at Luton Gym has been removed and replaced with more cable machines. The studio was one of the main reasons I joined – it was a dedicated space for stretching, functional training, and classes, and gave the gym a sense of balance between strength and flexibility training.
Now, that space has been taken away with zero consultation or communication with members. The gym already had more than enough cable and weight machines – why remove one of the only versatile, open areas left?
This decision completely changes the feel and functionality of the gym. It’s clear the focus is shifting from a well-rounded facility to a cramped, overcrowded machine space. I will be cancelling my membership immediately and will not be recommending this gym to others.
Very poor decision – and even poorer member consideration.

I am really upset , studio got removed
I am really upset and frustrated the fact that JD gym has got rid of the studio so the person now cannot even do free weight workouts in the studio , considering mostly JD gyms have studio , and the studio for replaced with cable machines . Hardly any free space to even stretch . Awful

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at JD Gyms.
I submitted my cancellation request on time, and I clearly mentioned that I was traveling and no longer using the gym. Despite this, I was still charged one final payment — something I was not clearly informed about during the cancellation process.
Their 30-day notice policy may be written on their website, but it was never directly communicated to me in emails or during cancellation. No confirmation was sent warning that another payment would be taken, which shows a serious lack of transparency and poor customer service.
After contacting them multiple times, I received vague, generic replies and no accountability. I felt completely ignored and disrespected as a paying customer.
This entire process was stressful, unfair, and not what I expected from a professional gym. I will never recommend JD Gyms to anyone, and I truly hope they improve how they communicate with members in the future.

I am really disappointed and frustrated…
I am really disappointed and frustrated finding out about JD closing the classes at my Gym in Luton without even letting us know in advance or even asking members about their feedback in regards this decision I am very angry that I had to find out from members who shares sames feeling.I been going to classes and I really enjoy them we made friends, attending these classes helped us in many ways gaining self-esteem, losing weight, meet new people from different communities and backgrounds also gaining confidence and at the end JD Gym decided to close classes without warning or even bothered to let their members know. Because of the classes I managed to encourage my friends and colleagues to join the Gym and now after hearing this we all are cancelling our membership if there is no more classes. My message to JD head office is to consider your decisions and think of the community and their needs. It's funny now they never sent us any email to let their members know about these changes, fake advertising about classes which people are still joining because of classes this unfair. They told us we can use MK gym I don't know how they want us to travel from Luton to MK for the classes like we have nothing to do. I work so when I finish work I go to gym do you think that I can manage to travel whole way to MK and back fir the classes. They need to do something about it.

I really enjoy training at my local JD Gym! A special shoutout to Lorraine and Runi, whose classes I always look forward to.
Lorraine really pushes us to work hard – her sessions are challenging but so rewarding. I especially appreciate the thought she puts into the cool-down stretches at the end, and her Zumba classes are always vibrant and fun, with different dances that keep things fresh and exciting.
Runi’s classes are also a real laugh – she brings great energy and makes working out feel enjoyable while still being effective. Her vibe makes a big difference!
Any time I’ve raised a concern or had feedback, Vincent and Kyle from management have been really supportive and approachable. They’ve always responded in an amicable and helpful way, which I truly appreciate.
That said, there’s always room for improvement – I’d love to see better hygiene monitoring, especially around the gym equipment. Also, having more female staff in the women’s changing rooms would be a great addition.
Overall, I love the community and the classes – thank you to the amazing instructors who make it worth coming back!

Takes them months to stop my membership and in the meanwhile they keep charging my card, horrible experience and you can’t call and complain and it takes weeks for them to respond to your email, plus the gym is trash.

No space
There isn’t much free space in the gym if you like doing freestyle workouts. They have one studio you can use but the class instructors often overrun by 10 minutes and you have to wait in order to use the room
I’ve complained about this but the management have done nothing to rectify it!

Lazy staff
The studio room is meant to be open until 10pm every day I went to walk in there at 930 to do a quick stretch and the worker was in there saying “studios shut now” how and why are you closing it 30 minutes early just because you want to finish your shift on time not having to quickly lock up the door after yourself at 10pm this has happened on more than one occasion being thrown out the room early when there has still be 15 minutes left before the room closes all because they want to close it up early so they can go home on time. Like everyone we all want to leave on time but if I walk into a shop at 5:50pm for example and they close at 6pm they will close at 6pm and let me do what I’m doing and get what I’m getting until closing. Staff need to be spoken to I’m paying for a membership to be not able to use the facilities on the times I’m suppose to be able to

Great gym, but Customer service is poor
Member of JD gyms for over a year, facilities are great including sauna for the price. However customer service is poor as you have to be on hold for over 45minutes. Additionally, we part of the facilities being refurbished which I frequent a lot there is no offer of discount even though I am paying full price to use all the facilities. I have been going back and forth with the JD gyms since 27th since I got the notification of the partial closure of the facilities

Disappointkent
Start to hate this Gym.
Very often there is No toilet role and soap in the lady's toilet!! This is nonsense, I had to carry my own rolls!
Staffs number are low and if you have issue with the network (what also rubbish) then you have difficulties to get in the gate, sucks.
The have a big room with mirrors what is always book up for classes all they long so can't get in there at all if you have something to do.
The ppl are not nice or polite here, holding on the machines for ages, have ridiculous amount if sets as a group so you can ended up waiting ages.
Parking you got 3 hour free, what in these conditions - also its a retail park so can be busy with other customers can be tight.
So I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone :(

Review: Ladies' Gym Area
The ladies' gym area has a good setup, but there are a few issues that need improvement. Some machines are not working properly, which can be frustrating when trying to complete a workout. There is also a lack of variety in equipment—adding more machines would help cater to different fitness goals.
Another major issue is the signing-in process, which is inconvenient and could be improved with a more efficient system, like a PIN-based entry. While the space is clean and comfortable, updating both the equipment and the access system would greatly enhance the overall experience.

Great gym - don’t believe the 1 stars
I joined around a 10 months ago. Generally train first thing in the morning and don’t have an issue getting on equipment. Lots of space. It does get a little hot in the summer, but aren’t we supposed to sweat a little anyways? Lots of comments about the women’s changing room and male staff coming in, however they do shout loudly to announce themselves and often there’s 5+ women there who don’t even respond - so how are they supposed to know? Give them break.
No privacy - male staff coming to women changing area whenever they please.
Men are just walking in without notifying or giving any announcement for women only area, changing place and toilets. Terrible! Happens regularly so I’ll b quitting.

I was one of the first 200 to join the gym when it opened where the pre- opening offer for the first month only cost £5 - it was pristine, clean and fully equipped with equipment / staff and excited members.
After 7 months it started going downhill - the female cleaner (Marie if I remember correctly) became lazy and rude to users of the female sauna room and even when reported she was backed up by other members if staff - even though other witness came forward.
Uneducated staff knew nothing about defusing or resolving complaints / issues and seemed confused in the role they where in.
The whole environment became unorganised / unhealthy / dirty and unprofessional lead and needs to be stripped and re- cleansed and staff needs to be re-trained and in some case re-placed before we see any life threatening injuries or death.
