My husband, my son and I have all used this gym before, and if you never need any help, it is an OK place. But the moment you actually need customer support, good luck.
Recently, my son needed to change the bank details for his monthly payment. He sent a message through the website and received confirmation that the message had been received. After that? Nothing. No reply, no instructions, no help. Two and a half months later, the bank details still had not been changed.
I then tried to help him and went to speak to staff at the gym. To begin with, everyone says something different. We were told he would receive an email to update his bank details. That email never arrived.
I went back yesterday to speak to the manager and was dealt with by the duty manager, who showed little interest in resolving the issue. I explained the whole situation, including the fact that JD Gyms were now trying to charge my son a £15 late payment fee, even though he had been trying to update his bank details for over two months.
Even after hearing all of this, the “manager” remained completely indifferent and showed no empathy whatsoever. He said my son could change the bank details through the website and that if he still had no response, or if the details were not changed within 30 days — yes, another whole month — he should come back and speak to him again.
Seriously? Changing bank details takes a month?
This gym treats members like rubbish. The only real contact method is the website, which has already proven to be useless. If you miss a payment, you receive an email with a phone number saying it can be used for “payment or to discuss the issue”. But if you actually want to discuss the issue, nobody answers the phone, no matter how many times you try.
Then you go to the gym in person and are met with a duty manager whose attitude made it very clear that resolving the issue was not a priority, with a 100% indifferent and 0% empathetic approach.
So before joining this gym, think very carefully. If you ever have a simple problem, or if you need to change your bank details, this is exactly the nonsense you may have to deal with.

We have been trying for several weeks to update our membership and direct debit details. However, no one has replied to our emails, no one answers the phone, and the managers at the Ipswich branch have failed to deal with the matter properly.
In the meantime, my son continues to be charged. As he is currently changing banks, he has also incurred penalties as a result of these incorrect charges.
This is our final attempt to resolve the issue directly. You have 48 hours to refund the penalty charges and any incorrect debits taken due to the wrong membership being charged. Otherwise, I will start a Money Claim to recover the amount, and you will also be responsible for any related costs.
Please contact me as soon as possible.
We will not accept any further generic instructions from you, as all previous guidance has been ineffective due to your complete failure to support your customers properly.

All right gym, cable machines could do with some grease and the showers could do with more cleaning.
Beware they will try and screw you over when it comes to cancelling membership:
I had stopped going to the gym and I realised that I wouldn't be able to pay for the next month so I request cancellation.
They get back in the timely manor of the next day confirming my cancellation for AFTER the next month.
I email them directly to no response.
I put in another request for cancellation (admittedly a bit late), to which they respond again that I will be paying for the upcoming month.
The date rolls around I don't pay and instead of being reasonable sending some "accessed revoked" message they instead ask for a LATE FEE on-top of the membership I did not ask for and currently can't afford.
I've since sent 2 direct messages to no response.
It is a shame as I'd have gone back when my finances improved but the scum at JD gym decided to screw over a customer.

I have PT sessions with Summer. She is amazing. She listens and takes on board my goals and knows when to push me. Would highly recommend as a PT! JD has a good range of equipment but only downside is not being able to see how many people are in the gym (like other local gyms) at times it can be difficult to navigate through a planned session because of how busy it can be.

My experience with my PT trainer has been one of the great experiences I have had. Beth is one of those trainers who makes sure that you don't get bored and you are still being pushed out of your comfort zone.
She is all in one - a gym buddy, a therapist, a mental coach and a friend.
The premises at JD Gym Ipswich are very clean, there are so many equipments and various classes to suit your needs. I definitely recommend to give it a try.
A really lovely gym with great staff, specifically my personal fav Beth! (Best PT everrrr) great atmosphere and a good variety of machines and lovely sauna! Overall very clean and very nice place to be
I’ve been a member at JD Gym for several months and I’m really impressed. The atmosphere is motivating and welcoming, never intimidating. What really stands out is the staff - everyone is genuinely friendly and helpful. They remember your name and are always ready to help.
The equipment is grea and there’s a real sense of community. If you’re looking for a gym with a positive vibe and staff who actually care, JD Gym is an excellent choice. Highly recommend!
A great gym with friendly staff, good value for money, clean and with a huge variety of equipment.

Best gym in town..awesome value for money.
Getting back into the gym has been really nerve wracking so I got in touch with Beth, one of the PTs, and we’ve been working together for almost a month now to build my confidence back up. Beth has really listened to my goals and we are working at a pace which suits me. Even when I’m not in my sessions with Beth, she is still so encouraging from the sideline and always finds time to answer my questions! Thanks Beth! :)
Amazing gym have everything you need lovely staff very helpful
