Edit: Ignore the answer from the company. It is a standard bs answer. The site seems to be filled with fake accounts (sure, you are in love with me after 5 messages!) and other crap. I feel sorry for anyone who is seriously looking for a connection. This site is not worth your time. And especially since the lowest price is $20 per 10 minutes of chatting time (which is used up far quicker than 10 minutes real time).

Credits instead of subscriptions?

This feels very backwards. Communication is a basic feature, there are plenty of sites that limit communication but they give free or partial communication through subscriptions rather than topping up your account with credits. As an example: 30 credits to send an e-mail, 10 credits to see one photo, 2 credits per minute chatting (and buying credits is not cheap either, it feels like I'm back in the 90s' having to buy credits for my mobile phone). The credits are supposed to be for chatting a certain amount of minutes, but I timed my usage and they were withdrawn far quicker than claimed. It feels as if the company has made this service to only get as much money out of you as possible. It's impossible to get any noteworthy contact with anyone when you might have to spend hundreds and hundreds of euros/dollars/what-have-you to get anywhere. Several accounts seems to be bots, because I've never encountered anyone writing so boldly or being that quick even on sites that are entirely free (don't at me about reporting) and due to the credit limitation it's impossible to sort through and find which might be real and which are fake. It just becomes a waste of time and money. Especially when you are just looking for a pen-pal!

As a side note: Have so far not found anyone from Japan which is suspicious in and of itself when the site calls itself Japansdates (yeah, yeah, it has a broad and varied clientel, etc., etc.)

This is a scam. Often bots or pherhaps even employees chatting. Expensive and based on payment with credits, for every Way off communication. To get personal info you have to spend 5000 credits on the intended profile.
Payment for absolytely everything!

Getting an email and reading is OK, but if photos are attached every photo (except the first - that is free- is 10 credits. That means 90 credits..45 credits is 19,99 euro.. so I spend 39,98 in 5 minutes to look at an e-mail with 10 pictures ? Wow..That is not really clear when you start is, you also cannot see your balance. No, not transparent. The answers come very quick, I cannot type so fast.. Then...I clearly stated I am looking for a serious relationship between 55 and 69 years old, but get lots of mails from girls and ladies between 18 and 35. Is your software so bad or are you just teasing me ? A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME AND NOT SERIOUS IN MY OPINION. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS.

I've reset my location filter so many times I've lost count. Every time I come back it's showing me people three hours away. I know it's probably a bug. Still annoying.

Too much all at once had a hard time getting credits which cost too much to text somebody and you can't say enough in a text I don't know how you can fix it any of that it wasn't a great experience I did meet a couple good people but I don't know enough about it or them to do anything
