A course that followed a logical progression and built confidence for a photographer.

I am retired and have no desire to become a professional or semi-professional photographer however I wanted a course that would improve my photographic ability and encourage me to use new techniques. I found that this course provided exactly what I wanted. It was challenging at times and certainly required me to think about methods, skills and techniques, but it was always presented in a user-friendly manner. Most aspects of digital photography were covered very effectively and gave practical advice. I have no hesitation in recommending this course to others.

Very very good from what is a camera to assignments that teach you and you learn.

I'm up to module 5 but already new a bit. I normally get bored going over basics but this has been very good so far. A few new points, updates and just really well set up as a learning tool.
I haven't got a fancy camera yet. I'm using the new knowledge to help me decide what I want.
I'm about to complete some assignments that are there but not part of the course. They're not marked they're just there so you can do extra to help.
It has been very good so far and I believe it will continue.

Thumbs up (Y)

An incredibly structured and planned course, that requires time and patience. The course goes through an awful lot. Suitable for beginners but also those who also photographed a while and need insperation. I highly recommend this course! There are also a lot of extra material to take note of. thumbs up (Y) Really good that you had plenty of time to cope with the course! If not, the time had stretched as far as it did, I would never have been finished with the course but was finished :) satisfied and happy girl! :)

A relatively competent photography course for self motivated beginners.

The course materials and curriculum are thorough in their content and treatment of the subject matter for beginner and novice photographers. There are however errors in the presentation content, grammar and basic work-flow of what makes good web design sense. Working through the modules feels clumsy and awkward at times as writers get the drift about how to design engaging web constructs to present their materials.

I received the course as a gift within Group-on promotions. Being highly discounted I believe the service on the tutoring end to be equally as discounted. None of my comments were acknowledged, and the one optional assignment I did post as a trial balloon met with equal silence. The course appears to be totally automated with Hariot the acclaimed tutor chiming in from time to time with "see us on facebook and twitter, blah, blah, blah.

I believe the BEST value of the course besides its content should you persist alone, is perhaps the past and present users who are posting images that they have taken as examples and experiments as they progress through the course. Making comments on other photographers work forces you to think about what you have learned about composition and what in fact makes for a "WOW" picture instead of ho-hum pixel dribble. Further, if you dare to post your own work, there is the added pleasure of someone actually posting a comment about your work. If you are lucky, that posting may even acknowledge what you were trying to achieve in the first place.

The multiple choice evaluations at the end of each module need some serious reworking. They serve the purpose of making sure you have not fallen asleep while you were reading the materials or at the very least, to remind you of the trials of going through high school. Whether the results of the evaluations are an indication of your understanding of photography or not is highly suspect, especially if English is not your first language. But the computer can tabulate your score quickly enough and tell you whether you need review the materials again. I just think there are better ways to receive feedback. Trial by fire is good! How about, you cannot go onto the next level until you have evaluated 50 of your peers photos and 10 preset photos covering the content of the last module.

In summary, I thoroughly enjoyed learning the course materials, trying out the assignments, making comments and receiving feedback on my comments and would definitely recommend the course to friends.

Hard but fully understandable course

This class is geared so that you can read and re-read the text. Then it will test you and the areas where you are getting wrong answers you can go over the material until you feel you know it. They also have assignments that help you better understand the concepts.
A great course for anyone who REALLY want to know photography.

Excellent learning experience, which will further improve my photographic skills

My wife bought this online course as a wedding anniversary gift to me.
She knows that photography is my no.1 hobby, and the course has proven to be everything that she and I hoped it would be.
Although I have read about 60 books on photography, and I have been a member of a local camera club, I still learnt many tips and techniques.
Also, it was a splendid idea to provide course members with a gallery to post and review pictures.
It would be nice to have some kind of book or booklet that summarises the key elements and techniques of the course. I would be willing to pay for such a feature.

Excellent course

There is a good break down of topics and it allows you to explore your camera and learn techniques at your own pace. You also have the ability to review topics.

From Fear to Fascination

I really didn't know if I wanted to try this course but for the Groupon price I thought "what the heck". After the 1st lesson I was hooked! I was just sorry that I started it right before I went on vacation for 4 weeks. Now I have to get motivated to get back into it, that is, if it is still available. But I did learn so much in the sessions I completed.

Fantastic photography course and simple to understand - no jargon!

Loved doing this course and found it so easy to understand. The best part was that I could do it at my own pace and go over modules if I wanted to. The gallery was a fantastic place to be but it seemed to fade a little in the last month or so. Didn't seem to be as many ratings or comments as there was when I first started.
Feedback from the tutors was great when I submitted the assignments.
Everyone at iphotography including the students were positive and helpful

Just one word - fantastic!

I enjoyed this course so much. it was if I sink into a world of my own. I forgot everything around me and just concentrate on what I was doing. I would do this course over and over again! Sooooo insightfull!
I know I will never remember everything, but as I practice with my camera I can always go back for assistance. I honestly think this is a very big perc!
And the supporting team was fantastic!

Very understandable and helpful!

The course greatly strengthened my understanding and usage of my camera and Photoshop. Really enjoyed module approach which provided learning in steps and at an appropriate time length.Great to be able to go to course whenever time was right for me. Tests were helpful in checking out what I had learned. Appreciate ability to return to site and go through modules again. Glad to be able to stop and start video so I could take notes or listen again to instructions. Also helpful to have tutor to address questions to. Great course and well worth the time and money.
