the call quota is consumed by robot calls
The IONOS AI Receptionist : a major problem with automated and robot calls. In my case, around 7 out of 10 incoming calls are robots that remain silent and hang up after only one second. These calls still consume the monthly call allowance, even though there is no real conversation and no value for the customer.
I contacted IONOS support, but they offered no filtering solution, no way to block these automated calls, and no option to exclude one-second silent calls from the quota. The only solution suggested was to upgrade to the unlimited plan.
This is not acceptable for a service sold with a limited number of calls. Customers should not have to pay for a more expensive package simply because IONOS does not filter obvious robot calls.
The service itself has real potential, but until IONOS introduces proper spam filtering or only counts calls after genuine speech is detected, the limited plans are unsuitable for professional use.

Misleading pricing and unauthorized charges — avoid!
I purchased domains at the advertised price of €5 and received a confirmation for €5. A few days later — without any warning — IONOS charged me €18. Then came 2 more invoices totaling €36. All of this within a short period, far before any renewal date.
Their website clearly states €5 now, €11 after one year. Not €18, not €36, and definitely not days after purchase.
When I contacted support, instead of resolving the issue in writing, they immediately pushed me to switch to a phone call — which feels like a deliberate attempt to avoid leaving any written record.
To make matters worse, when I confronted them with the facts, they denied everything — claiming the €5 price never existed, despite me having seen it with my own eyes during the purchase and receiving a confirmation at that price. Being gaslit by a company you're paying is unacceptable.
This also had real consequences for my business. I had agreed with a client on a project budget based on the €5 domain price, signed a contract, and purchased the domains. Then IONOS sent a new invoice with a completely different amount — after the payment was already made. This forced me to go back to my client, renegotiate the contract, involve a lawyer, create new documentation, and recalculate the entire project budget. IONOS didn't just charge me unexpectedly — they caused me real professional damage and put my client relationship at risk.
I am not alone. Reading other Trustpilot reviews, this appears to be a systematic practice: charge first, apologize later only when publicly called out.
My case is currently under review. If it is not resolved in my favor, I will not hesitate to file formal complaints with the relevant consumer protection authorities to put an end to these practices.
I do not recommend IONOS to anyone who values transparent pricing and honest billing.

To clarify how our invoicing works: when you register multiple domains under a promotional offer (such as €5), the promo price typically applies to the first domain or specific extensions in your cart, while additional domains or different extensions are billed at their standard rates, itemized before checkout. Furthermore, each domain registry processes registrations at slightly different times, which can trigger individual, automated invoices a few days apart.
However, your situation deserve a thorough review. Because your Trustpilot profile is completely anonymous, we cannot access your account, check your initial order confirmation, or audit the invoices you mentioned.

I originally planned to buy a domain for €10. When I saw an offer for 4 domains for €1, I jumped on it. The result? I was charged €1, and then another €8 in hidden fees right after. Customer service refuses to issue a refund, claiming "it's normal." Total lack of transparency. Save yourself the trouble and go to more honest competitors!
Update:
I received a first call where I was told that I would be refunded. At the end of the call, I was asked, if possible, to remove my Trustpilot review. I said that I would edit it once I had received the refund.
In the end, I was only refunded €1.20 instead of the expected €7.20 or €7.40. So I called again and spent more than 30 minutes on the phone, only to be told that I had already been refunded. Result: 30 minutes wasted, and in the end, I only received the correct refund more than two weeks later.
Honestly, I would recommend choosing a service like Hostinger or OVH instead. I have never had this kind of problem with them.

Ionos customer support and the company has been extremely dissapointing to work with.
I bought 2 domains not long ago, they first appeared in the Dashboard then dissapeared, after getting in contact with several of their customer service and being charged twice... no one has visibility on where those dashboards are or what happened to them... completly inompetent.
