Domains registered, then account locked within minutes
On July 30, 2026, I purchased two domains from INWX using a Ukrainian bank card. I provided a Ukrainian address throughout the order and account details.
Only 2–3 minutes after the purchase, INWX restricted my account and placed both domains on clientHold. Since then, I have not been able to access, manage, use, or transfer the domains I paid for.
INWX says the information is inconsistent and asks me to provide several unclear documents, including proof of residence and a copy of my passport or ID by email. I may not have fully understood some of the registration or billing fields, but I used Ukrainian information everywhere and I am willing to correct any mistake through a secure process.
Despite the fact that I cannot use the domains, INWX refuses to refund my payment, arguing that the domains were technically registered. I asked them either to give me access to the domains or to refund the money, but neither has happened.
Registering domains and then blocking the account within minutes, while refusing a refund and requesting sensitive documents by ordinary email, is not an acceptable customer experience.

To protect customer accounts, domain registrations and our services from misuse, we are required to review such cases and may temporarily restrict access to the account and affected domains. The review is not related to the customer’s nationality or the country in which the payment card was issued.
The domains were successfully registered and the corresponding registry fees were incurred. A restriction applied during a security review does not reverse the registration or automatically make those fees refundable.

As a customer from Kosovo, I was a bit hesitant to use INWX for a .de domain, but the experience has been positive. The registration process was straightforward, pricing was transparent, and when I ran into a registry validation issue, support responded quickly and professionally. It’s refreshing to find a registrar that feels technical and doesn’t constantly try to upsell additional services. So far, I’d happily use INWX again for European domains.

I cannot locate their chat, email or phone number for this company. I have been a customer over 10 years ... very few complains until now when one of my domains in my portfolio is offline, how long I don't really know but their shouldn't be a landing page for their company there!
I think it has changed for the worse.

The domain in question is a ccTLD, which requires manual handling on our side. Any associated fees are fully transparent and listed in our public price list prior to purchase.
That said, we are taking this feedback as an opportunity to review our internal processes and to evaluate whether we can introduce additional automation in the future. Our goal is to allow free nameserver updates wherever technically possible.
As a gesture of goodwill, we have already performed the requested update free of charge.
Regarding the auth code: for this specific ccTLD, it must also be issued manually. This has since been completed and provided to you.
We would also like to point out that ccTLDs cannot be directly compared to gTLDs. Each ccTLD has its own registry rules and special requirements, which are clearly outlined on the respective TLD landing pages on our website before ordering.
Finally, our support team was available and actively assisted in resolving the issues throughout the process. While we fully understand the frustration expressed, we believe the extremely negative rating does not fully reflect the support and solutions that were provided.
