We cannot recommend this outfit enough

We cannot recommend this outfit enough. The check-in process was seamless and thorough. Safety is a big concern, especially since my partner and I do not raft a lot, so we felt like we were in good hands when they walked us through a long safety training and ensure that everyone understood the various scenarios we were likely to encounter. Our river guide did a great job of giving clear and direct instructions when we were on the river. When we were in calmer waters, he shared a lot of really neat information about the history of the area and the river. We can't wait for our next trip with Wilderness Aware.

It is a bit of a process to get dressed appropriately and learn all the safety stuff. Glad it was a good process for you. We pride ourselves on our solid safety record.

Cancelled trip due to injury

Cancelled trip due to injury. They denied cancellation and refused to refund all or a portion of the prepayment, nor did they offer a voucher for a future trip.
Yes, it was a last-minute cancellation and they were within their contractual rights; however, keeping full payment for 4 participants hardly seems appropriate under the circumstances.
I’ll be in the area again this spring/summer and will go with a different operator for my family and me.

Sorry to hear this trip didn't work out. We hold spaces in boats and guides are paid when they work. We often turn people away when we fill, and with a short season cannot operate successfully if we do not follow our policy. With that being said, we do offer cancellation coverage which you apparently declined. We do suggest coverage for that reason. A good comparison is concert, theater and ball game tickets. Limited seating, the same cancellation policy and the ability for you to resell the seats. All companies have a cancellation policy. Be sure to ask.

The staff was wonderful

The staff was wonderful. I would suggest having at least two experienced rafters on the raft. My two kids got tired so they were just sitting. My husband, me and the leader had a tough time towards the end with large drops and steering. I would recommend this company to anyone but be ready to work and possible be cold!

Another option is to take an oar boat when the guide has two big oars and fully controls the boat. Something to consider when young ones are involved. Glad it worked out though!

We did a half day rafting trip with Wilderness Aware Rafting this past summer and had a BLAST. The guides are fun and goofy while still being very professional. Their funny banter and interesting facts about the region made the rafting even more enjoyable. We will be back!

Excellent Browns Canyon / Arkansas River trip

My wife and I rafted with Wilderness Aware in August, and we had a blast. We used a day of rafting Browns Canyon to break up our trip between hiking days, and our guide (Erin) was knowledgeable and highly skilled. She definitely made it a great trip.

Had a great experience.

The team that led my overnight trip was awesome. Safety-first and fun a very close second. If you can find the time, a multi-day trip gives you a real deep appreciation for the location and the experience of rafting.

I agree. My favorite trips are 2 days and longer. Getting away from email and phones and being outdoors is super healthy! Thanks for coming!
