ij.start.canon Reviews 3

Been intermittently using TS6350 since I got it but frequently get printer connection problems. Recently worse than ever, tried repeatedly restarting printer/modem/macbook air, and tried clearing all printer settings. Now tried using ij.start.canon and it downloaded software, then went through steps but failed when trying to verify software saying check network - everything else works on the network - useless - mistake not getting another HP printer that worked flawlessly for many years!!

help desk rep name was Peter. I told him that i am encountering fault error when installing drivers using ij.start.cannon website. I gave him access to my computer and he started pointing out that i have lots of driver issues and my computer might have a worm. Tried to upsell me with other products and said that was the only way to fix the issue. I said NO to his sales pitch and he dropped the call!
I then went to canon.com and found the drivers and installed it without encountering any problem. Printer is working and I didnt have to do any updates or upgrades on my computer as what this "Peter" suggested.
Please stay away from their tech support! They will upsell you additional service/product for sure.

I've used Cannon printers for years, but the ij.start services seem like a scam. I got an error installing from this site and got an error. When trying to get help, the rep did a couple of quick "validation" tests (including a DIR/S that ended in a trojan detected message, not sure how that would happen), and did a couple of other appearing smoke and mirror tests identifying other connected IP addresses (including my router and misc multicast IPs, some from the router), and rather than trying to help me get installed, tried upselling me to unneeded security services. After that, closed command window, so there's no evidence of what he did. Ended up installing the drivers from Cannon.com with no issues. Printer good, service bad.
