Igas Portsmouth based plumber is unreliable

Igas Portsmouth based plumber Brett turns up at our house three hours before our scheduled appointment with his PA without telling us in advance. He carried out an assessment and explained why our shower was not working and how he could fix it. He informed us he was going to remove the shower and replace it with a new shower as the connection on our shower was fitted wrongly and the hot water was coming through the cold and vice a versa. It seemed to make sense. He then said he would be ripping off the aqua panel off to get to pipes behind. He informed us he would buy a new shower that has pipes designed the wrong way round to fix our wrong way round hot and cold pipes.So we booked him in as he had indicated he knew what the problem was.We waited two weeks and on the day that he was due to attend he never showed up. He never returned any of our many calls and we did not even get a phone call, text or email from him. Brett was due to start at 9am. At 5pm he sent a message to us regarding his absence. The strange thing was it was not addressed to either of us but to a Rebecc “I have fallen of a ladder”. He had sprained his arm and now needs a week off. Why is a plumber up a ladder at 7 am? Plumbers work mainly off steps. Why did your PA not inform us in the morning as he was ment to be working at our house first thing. Yes A&E is busy but a whole day to tell us you’re not coming all day. If you ever choose IGAS be prepared for Brett to be unreliable.

VERY POOR SERVICE, UNRELIABLE, RUDE PLUMBER

I’d like to give less than one star. B and his secretary turned up 3 hours early to quote without letting us know they were coming. They were difficult to communicate with after this. Bert failed to turn up at all on the day scheduled to carry out repairs and then failed to respond to any of my messages trying to find out what was happening. It was impossible to contact anyone at his company at all. When he eventually let me know why he hadn’t turned up 8 hours later he was rude and discourteous. He didn’t explain why no one could have informed me what was happening if he couldn’t. My day was completely wasted waiting for a plumber who couldn’t be bothered to let me know he wasn’t turning up.

The best company I’ve been in touch with

The I Gas Engineers are a small business that puts the accent of well being of customers, they are very hard working to achieve their best for their customers, very professional . I will recommend them with all my heart, I think they are the best in what they do.

Fantastic Service from Bert & his team

Fantastic Service from Bert & his team. Installed a new boiler in 2023 with no fault, they were friendly, efficient and good value which is usually a concern for an elderly widow.

They followed up by replacing a faulty valve in my property in 2024 as well as previously replacing my properties stopcock and outside tap.

I would highly recommend them for any future work.

I’m no good at DIY and had a fault come…

I’m no good at DIY and had a fault come up on my boiler this morning, after a panic I googled a number of companies to help and came across igas. I can not thank the gentleman I spoke to who was able to solve this issue over FaceTime enough. He was extremely patient, friendly and very knowledgeable. Again thank you so so much. Highly recommend!

SUPERB WORK

EXCELLENT. Perhaps I should start by describing what this company is NOT. It is NOT one of those nationwide multi-trade outfits which are basically a person in an office who knows nothing about (in this case, gas and plumbing) and a whole array of tradesmen who have signed up and have little connection with the office. You could get anyone. Communication is nigh impossible. You get little from the company and difficulty when contacting them. You may accept what looks like a good offer and find yourself signed up to some expensive rip-off service deal. I have encountered one of these at my expense. It took me a while to get rid the service deal and I only received a partial refund. The whole thing is a sales bonanza and anything but 'personal'.

This firm is local - and despite having quite extensive coverage ( obviously due to its success) has not forgotten the fundamentals which are essential to the customer. Communication between the office and the technician is efficient. Communication between the office and yourself is superb. If there is a delay, or any issue you know about it, either by email or phone. And quickly. The guy in the office (in my case, Duane) has extensive knowledge of the trade and communicates well. Emails are answered very promptly. A detailed quote was supplied and adhered to. I paid exactly what was quoted. There were no cowboy claims for 'additional needs'.

The job was difficult. The house had presented countless leaks over the years resulting in damage to ceilings which continually reoccurred. Though I had had extensive work done by a different company a year prior to this, the boiler had stopped working and I had leaks, both from overflow pipes from the loft tank and through the bathroom floor. The house had not been lived in for several years and was used only for storage and as an office. There was stock EVERYWHERE making it difficult to access anything.

The technician (in my case Remi) was fantastic. At no stage did he show frustration at the myriad obstructions around him. He wasted not a moment. He was a delightful guy, really pleasant and very skilled. The boiler was made up and running and the issue diagnosed quickly. I was even (very briefly) shown it smoking before it was shut down. The offer for repair or replacement was made and I chose 'like for like'. The new boiler was fitted neatly and all now works beautifully. All leaks were diagnosed and fixed. Remi showed me photos of all the issues - 'before and after' so that I knew exactly what I was paying for. I am more than hopeful that I will have no future issues as the work has been extremely thorough.

If you think this may be one of those 'phoney reviews', think again. No fraudster would (or could) offer such detail. They just wouldn't bother.

The cost was competitive and I was happy that I had received value for money. I will use this company in the future to service the boiler and any issue which may arise. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great service from i Gas Engineers

Great service from i Gas Engineers. Gas Boiler packed up so no hot water. Bert came and analysed the problem, sourced a spare part (fan) which arrived and was fitted the next afternoon. Polite, efficient service.

Great service from Bert who came and installed a new boiler turned up when he said he would explained everything that was going to be done from start to finish tidied up when finished great friendly service and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to family and friends

Local service who go above and beyond

Bert is very friendly and replies as soon as you call. He is knowledgeable and explains what he is doing and why. He recently went above and beyond his duty by advising us that what we thought was a boiler problem was actually a gas supply issue. This meant we could get help quickly to get our heating back up and running. He then followed up the next day to check it was all sorted. Can’t recommend this company highly enough. Great service and local.family owned company.

Great service from Danny

Great service from Danny with get ting an awkward gas fire out, and solving the problem of a bird stuck down the chimney. Igas were quick to respond and the most helpful of the 3 or 4 firms I tried.
