Been with Idnet for some years for…

Been with Idnet for some years for internet and phone. Internet generally works (FTTC) not fast, but adequate for our needs. Telephone is another matter. Very bad line crackling after wet weather. Have reported this but nothing ever gets done. On 17th Nov 2025 phone died altogether. No dial tone and calling the number from elsewhere gives engaged. I reported this on 17th and was promised it would be fixed by the end of the following day. It wasn't. Then by 21st Nov, then by 28th Nov. Despite emails & calls to them nothing gets done. I get no status updates.
It's now 2 weeks on and still we have no phone.
Next door neighbour went off at the same time but was back after a couple of days.
If you're considering idnet & phone is part of the deal look elsewhere. They just don't seem to be able to get faults fixed, or keep customers informed.

Dear Swarfbucket,

We do appreciate your feedback however, we find it is somewhat unfair.

To provide readers some perspective, your PSTN service was affected by a MSO (Major Service Outage) at the Openreach Exchange. Such faults affect many users across multiple suppliers and are not specific to IDNet and our customers.

On calling in, the MSO was explained to you and you requested a fault be raised. We explained we cannot open a fault case on an circuit effected by an active MSO. As you were not happy with this so to show willingness on our part, we did go ahead and raise a manual fault and also provided you with a screen shot which confirmed the MSO at play.

The MSO was signed off as resolved by Openreach this morning and we have made contact to ask you to re test the service.

It is unfortunate how long the MSO was ongoing but I'm sure you can understand this was not something IDNet could have foreseen nor expedite the resolution of. It is evident however, that the Team did everything they could to provide you with a clear and honest explanation of the situation.

Should you have any further difficulty or need any assistance at all, we remain at your disposal.

Sincerely,

IDNet

so much downtime already (fixed)

My new idnet fibre has already given me more problems and more downtime in the 3 days its been active than my dodgy overhead cable BT copper connection gave me in 25 years.

They are lucky the ping is very low when it is working or id be shopping around again, having said that they are on the expensive side of providers so you would expect it to be good

Update 5.12.2025
It was fixed the next day, turned out to be a completely random issue. Our property had been unplugged at the cabinet when someone else was being connected, so totally unrelated to idnet.

Ping in games at all times including peak continues to be night and day compared to Vodafone's unplayable lag during busy hours.

Happy customer and have already set a calender reminder to renew my contract in a year.

Dear Matt,

I am sorry to hear you experienced a fault as soon as your service went live on 26/11. This was indeed very unfortunate and very unusual.

I was very pleased to see that the fault was resolved following a visit from City Fibre engineers the very next day and sincerely hope you enjoy a trouble free service from here on and even may consider a new review reflecting a positive experience.

Although we can appreciate, and certainly empathise, that any downtime is incredibly frustrating and inconvenient, it should be acknowledged that the Team handled your case impeccably ensuring a swift resolution and timely updates were provided. Such high levels of support are standard here at IDNet where we always do our utmost to help our customers with integrity and efficiency being our priority.

Sincerely,
IDNet

Great service keeping me informed and working well

I transferred over to ID Net from BT/EE. ID Net have a good price for the internet speed I was looking for, they also have zero in contract price rises. Unlike BT/EE who increases prices by more than inflation every single year. ID Net kept me up to date with the info for installation, they gave me the required login information well in advance. The engineer turned up within the time frame and the install went well. Overall a very easy and seamless transition to ID Net as my ISP. All exactly as it should be, a big recommendation and thumbs up, very happy.

I'm disappointed that the VOIP phone offers at IDNet appear poor and expensive. I'd rather stick with one supplier for broadband and phone but this may decide me to move away, in spite of having always appreciated the excellent service and support the company offers.

Was a slower than some on the take over. But I have the service now and I can finally access my works VPN which I couldn't before with another provider. The internet does not blink in and out as often as it did! I am currently really impressed with the service. We have a big family and lots of tech on the internet.

So far excellent support and they really know their stuff - very pleased indeed (day 1 user) - already a million times better than Virgin Media - only thing that was a bit frustrating was that the OTS (One touch switch) failed when I set it up and I didn't realise this meant that I'd have to battle it out with Virgin who now want a 30 day written notice period to cancel.
