Frustratingly bad service

Frustratingly bad service, zero results, invisible support. I started working with CJ’s agency four months ago to run our TikTok ads. He seemed untrustworthy, that’s what my gut feeling told me, but he came via a recommendation (from someone I now know had not worked with him) so I trusted him.

Fast forward four long months and we’ve spent $40K to make just below $5K. CJ promised me that he could achieve 4x to 5x cheaper cpa than YouTube, in fact our costs were 4x to 5x more expensive and nothing he, or his team, did to help made any difference in lowering this.

His team are, respectfully, almost completely clueless in all areas. His ‘account managers’ on two counts could not answer simple questions and in every case said “i’d better ask CJ before i answer that”, even in respect to simple questions like “how does organic content make a difference to paid content” or “with ninety percent of calls being cancelled, what can we do to reach our ideal avatar” or “with us being four months in and tens of thousands of dollars in the hole, what do we do at the end of the four month stretch that ends next week” etc.

I spoke to seven (yes, seven) outside sources including Cole Gordon and Sebastien Robeck, every one of whom said CJ does not have a clue and is just flying by night and hoping clients get results rather than having any specific knowledge, along with straight up saying his strategies don’t make any sense.

Worse still, i just shared this in 4 of the masterminds i’m in and lo and behold people began pouring in saying they’ve suffered the exact same experience: Excuses, excuses, excuses from HyperDrive matching the exact ones they gave us i.e “just shoot new ads” and “the camera angle is off” and “you need to change the microphone quality” etc. Exact same excuses between everyone who complained.

When i asked for a refund, within literally minutes, our Slack channel was deleted. I messaged CJ on Facebook and he read the messages then blocked me immediately.

Talk about professionality.

What frustrates me is, on the rare occasion my clients ask for a refund, whether they’re entitled to one or not within my contract, I give them one and honour it out of respect. To provide good service and be a good person.

But what did CJ do?

Get angry, block me, delete our Slack channel. Threaten legal action. React with emotion. It speaks for itself.

I wish I never trusted CJ and i feel stupid for doing so. Again, I’ve been threatened with legal action in response to my refund request, and have wasted hundreds of hours of my time for a -$35,000 loss.

Don’t make the same mistake i did
