The lady who sold us 2 Himolla chairs was very helpful and friendly, very pleased with our visit in this shop…looking forward now to receive them…

The very pleasurable, personal, friendly service from KERRY in the Hove branch. We stayed for hours trying out the chairs and beds too!
It was without pressure but WITH tea and biscuits! We bought a full bells and whistles Aysgarth riser, recliner and I'm looking forward to enjoying the heated cushioning at my back this autumn and winter. If my husband loves it, we may even return for a matching one, if we can make some more space in our lounge...
Although we fitted into the petite size, if you need a higher seat, then choose the standard as it is 1.5inches higher This is what we did in the end.

Really helpful and knowledgeable staff. Easy to contact via phone without having to jump through hoops, !! What a relief.
The only thing I would have liked is more choice on feet, it was just castors or one choice of wooden foot, would have been nice to have had a two or three choices. Thank you

Kerry was extremely helpful, patient and very engaging and pleasant. She was knowledgable and answered all of our questions enabling us to make the right decision and purchase the product that was right for us.

My father bought two leather chairs from HSL in 2024. Each chair cost £2350. The one he has used now looks older than his 15 year old leather sofa. The leather seats in his 26 year old car have not sagged any where near as much. After only two years, the leather has stretched terribly and the foam seat cushion is completely flat, with next to no support left. My father is a very small framed man and honestly uses this chair for maybe a few hours a week, if that!
Having sent in photos of the chair I have just received a rather patronising email stating that this is known as puddling. Normal wear and tear with leather. As for the foam seat cushion which is no longer, that is also ‘normal’ apparently. Of course I understand that leather does stretch but like I said, this 2 year old chair looks a lot worse than his much older leather sofa and car seats.
You would have thought that a good quality leather would have been used, considering the price of these chairs but clearly that is not the case.

We found HSL in Brighton by chance. We had brilliant service from Josh and lots of advice about the Ercol sofa we wanted to buy. HSL is one of the few furniture stores that actually stocks an excellent selection of Ercol products. We ended up buying two sofas and a chair. Huge range of fabrics to choose from and multiple wood finishes.

Excellent service, really friendly,very helpful also Kerry was very caring and it was a pleasure to be served by her.

Warm welcome and friendly assistance on several occasions in ordering a riser recliner chair. Megan the delightful sales person went above and beyond what was expected, lending leather samples and collecting them herself from my home.
Tea and biscuits and lovely friendly service made the purchase a great experience.

We went to the HSL shop in Brighton &Hove to buy a couple of chairs. As I have a bad back problem I thought it would be difficult to get the right chair for comfort. But our sales consultant Joshua was extreamly patient and understanding. He showed us the chairs that would suit us and thoroughly explained all the mechanisms. He went through all the different materials with us, nothing was too much trouble for him. We left the shop knowing we were getting good quality furniture.

I went to the hove branch with my mum as she wanted to buy a riser recliner, she'd had a leaflet through the door about HSL and wanted to go to the store
We had an absolutely fantastic experience in the store, the lady we dealt with was amazing, knowledgeable & welcoming, she allowed my adult son with a learning disability to try out a couple of the chairs & even got him a can of coke & some biscuits (mum & I declined a drink) we had quite a few laughs while we were there too which was unexpected
My mum (87) chose a gorgeous riser recliner chair & fabric with all the bells & whistles & she paid on the day. I can't praise the sales lady enough, she was lovely!
Delivery was on time, we were well informed of times etc & Mum said the delivery guy was very helpful & "like you'd expect in the old days, courteous & respectful & very nice"
All in all I would 100% recommend HSL, they made choosing & buying a riser recliner a lovely experience for my mum

I went into the HSL showroom in Hove, just to browse, but, the service that I received was so exceptional that I was persuaded to buy a chair, Kerrie was friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to make sure that I was happy, giving really helpful advice. I am very pleased with the chair, having had it several weeks.I wanted something that didn’t shout “chair for someone with a bad back”! it’s received lots of compliments, so I couldn’t be more pleased.

UPDATE: Buyer please beware, contact centre staff are giving out inaccurate and false data, they avoid calls and contact.
Himolla one of their premium suppliers is in financial trouble and HSL are still accepting orders and giving usual lead times. I ordered a 3.3k chair in good faith and I am left being unable to trust anything HSL say about the progress on this chair and as of last night they were telling me shipping from Bavaria takes 4 weeks.... Don't listen to the "We Care" stuff, it doesn't translate into a real world experience. Quite the opposite. Still waiting for a call back and response to email........

We recently purchased a chair from HSL in Hove and, although our chair hasn’t arrived yet due to the lead time, I wanted to leave a review based on the exceptional service we’ve received so far.

After spending a day visiting other furniture shops and feeling completely overwhelmed by the amount of information and options, walking into HSL was a breath of fresh air. Meg immediately put us at ease, and as soon as we were in her hands, we knew we had found the right place and were making the best choice.

We left that first visit with a quote, but over the following weeks we had several conversations as we considered our options. When we changed our minds about the model, Meg re-quoted everything quickly and arranged for additional fabric swatches to be delivered incredibly fast, which made the decision process so much easier.

Meg wasn’t in store when I returned to complete the purchase, but her colleague picked everything up seamlessly and was excellent in handling the final stage of the sale. The whole experience has felt professional, knowledgeable and genuinely customer-focused.

The chair may still be on order, but my confidence in HSL as specialists is already complete. Thank you to Meg and the Hove team for turning what could have been a stressful purchase into such a positive experience.

This review relates only to the service we received at the HSL store in Hove. The chair we ordered is still on its way so can't comment on that.
We visited the store with my 95 year old father in law to find him a chair that was easier for him to get out of. Although he liked the first chair he found the Manager(?) made sure that he tried several others to ensure it was the best one for him. She spoke directly to him, i.e. not just to us to ensure that she understood that he was the customer, not my wife and I, although she did, of course, discuss issues with us too. Having taken two years to convince him to try out some chairs it was great that it was such a friendly and positive visit.

Great service by staff.Clare was very friendly and helpful with no rush to decide. Good selection from which to choose.
