SCAMMED THIS YEAR
2019 subscription allowed me to watch IPL so I renewed but this year but can't watch IPL. I paid just for IPL but what a waste. Now you have to pay even more to upgrade to VIP or Premium which they didn't make clear before. A scam that has left me with no IPL to watch. Shame on Hotstar for the trick they have pulled.

I signed up for the service in December 2019 with a Roku2 XS device. This service was primarily for my mom who left in March 2020. After that, I tried to use it many times and was getting an error message.
With several emails back and forth, I got a call from Hotstar support on August 22nd. I was informed on that day that hotstar cannot be streamed through Roku2 XS. The representative told me at first that the change was made 8 months ago and later came back saying that the change was done 2 years ago.
This was not stated in the terms and conditions when signing up for the service. Furthermore, the representative indicated that it was my hindsight in not knowing which devices support their channel.
Lack of transparency, communication and responsibility of this enterprise led me to cancel the subscription. However, it turns out that they cannot even do that over the phone. A customer is required to go online and cancel it themselves.

i have landed to hotstar after being a subscriber of Netflix and Amazon. these 2 platforms are far far superior than hotstar in-terms of literally everything. be it content, be it look, feel or operability of their portals. it feels like hotstart has been designed and operated by a bunch of new comers in the market who have got their product out without any market research or checking out their competitors. hotstart portal has continuous issues and is very slow in response to every click you make on the portal. it keeps me routing to “.us” domain and erroring out, instead of routing to “.ca”.
after every episode when it tries to switch to the next episode, gets redirected to “.us” domain and every time i have to fix it manually. the portal refuses to play any content if hotstart is open in any tab on same browser.
i regret buying an yearly subscription after using it for a week.
Worst app ever seen
Worst app ever seen, thay have no technical issues while they have to take money. Once you recharge it they will not send any OTP, and without OTP you can't activate your subscription. I have two accounts, one on which I have recharged the premium membership has stoped receiving OTP and at the same time the other account, in which there is no balance it is recieving otp everytime. So is this technical issue is for some particular accounts. And top of that there is no customer care except and email id , over which no one is responding.

After last update on my tv, I am unable to play any premium content. is says Playback error due to DRM issues. PL-1201. This is very frustrating. Very poor service for a premium customer.

It's very sad to inform you that the telecasting of mounam sammatham 2 in hotstar have been stopped. It is found that some error has been occurred while playing this serial. There are many people watching this serial during this quarantine period. So This makes very difficulty for all of them. So we kindly request you to post mounam sammatham 2 again on hotstar as soon as possible. I hope you'll fix this problem soon.

I signup without reading review now I am facing same problem people mention on earlier review and fighting to get refund by cancelling subscription.Everytime you call they give you lollypop to suck.
Canceling Hotstar and they are giving me grief for refund.
As there is no cricket for the foreseeable future I informed them that I am canceling and asked for refund for the proportionate amount till Feb 2021. They are trying to tell me that last date for getting refund has passed. Nobody foresaw that Caronavirus will hit all sports worldwide. I agree with earlier posters, this is an unethical company. I will be fighting them to obtain proportionate refund via my credit card company and social media. If others are in the same boat as me, please post to all social media forums.

Hotstar Steals Money from Customer
We got annual membership from Hotstar, as I wanted to cut down on the TV addiction and wanted my kids to focus on studies for their crucial next year on academics. I cancelled my subscription, and was looking for a refund and it didn't happen. I called their customer support but they are reluctant to refund my money for the next 8 months that I'm not intending to watch. He said we can give you a $5 back as there is a promo going on. They just steal money, no easy refund policy and make us feel as if we are cheating them for discontinuing the service. Very poor customer orientation.
