Booked two rooms for a weekend in…

Booked two rooms for a weekend in Livingstone with my inlaws. When arrived the hotel had no idea who hostelbookers are and they never received my booking. Fortunately, we found an alternative arrangement with the property and another hotel. Now Hostelbookers refused to refund the money paid in advance suggesting that we should have spent one night in the street. My suggestion, stay away from them. They advertise properties without having any agreement with them. Total scum.

Totally unacceptable

My daughter made a booking with HostelBookers 6 months ago - with a few weeks to go they now claim they "had a problem with their system" and are no longer able to honour their price - how outrageous. Read the fine print they say they are not the contracting party and take no responsibility. Would never recommend for anyone to use these people any decent organisation would accept it as their own problem as opposed to offering a refund. No point making a booking with these people.

My experience in Union City

I have stayed at the Explore Hotel and Hostel in Union City, N.J. for the past week.

The prices are amazing. That's partly because the rooms are supposed to have several people. I have, though, been the only person in the room on some days and have had one roommate on other days.

There are a few things that are disconcerting. For starters, there are no curtains or shades in the bathroom. And there is an apartment building with people right across an alley. It shouldn't take much money to fix this,. This is negligence.

There have also been days that there was no hot water in the shower.

On the other hand, the Internet access is great. I can get my work done more easily at the hostel than at the library. And there is also a rec room with a TV and game room as well as a community kitchen with a refrigerator and an oven.

And the location is great, just a short bus ride to New York City.

Thank you,
Martin
