I had to return my dress because I…

I had to return my dress because I ordered the wrong size and they were completely understanding and helped me through the whole process. I love the dress and I will be wearing it as my wedding dress this upcoming June. I also bought all of my bridesmaids dresses from Holy clothing!

Quality and comfort

I originally picked up the Orion top, Celeborn cloak, and Oberon pants in Limited Navy Blue for a Renaissance Faire, but they have quickly become some of my favorite everyday pieces.
The quality is outstanding—the fabric feels durable yet breathable, and the comfort level is 10/10. The embroidery and celestial details are even better in person. It’s rare to find 'costume' pieces that feel this high-quality and look this good in a regular setting. If you’re looking for clothes that make you feel like a wizard but are comfortable enough to wear all day, this is it!

Hidden charges

I ordered several outfits and they were delayed in shipping. I needed them for our band performances. The communication has been terrible. Then several months after the fact, I was hit with numerous FedEx bills for the shipping when their website even says free shipping over $200. I’ve tried multiple times to contact this company and no one is responding.

Rising prices, dropped quality

I loved Holy Clothing, back in 2019. The pieces I have from then are still going strong, and I still use them regularly. Recent purchases, however, have left quite a bit to be desired. Prices have soared; almost doubled. The pieces I received didn't follow the size chart at all, and were far smaller than they were supposed to be. The dye is still bleeding (yet somehow also uneven?) after multiple rounds of independent washing and attempts at setting it, the material is still scratchy and rough, and I've already had to repair a small hole even though I've done nothing but wash the items. They've yet to be worn, and probably won't be. Couple this with the outright theft of the designs of some of their pieces, and I can no longer spend my money with this company.

New Renfaire Favs

I bought from Holy Clothing when I needed a new Renfaire dress for a wedding. I was impressed that they work with seamstresses and artisans in India to ethically make all their garments.

Beautiful outfits, but high prices

I have several pieces from HolyClothing, and LOVE wearing them to Ren Faires! I especially love the variety of colors, and that they semi-regularly add new styles (plus that they occasionally bring back old styles!) I will note that, as many other people have shared before, the prices seem to have gone up while the quality has gone down. They're still beautiful pieces, but the dyes seem to bleed more than their older pieces, and the embroidery frays really easily (even when hand-washing pieces carefully). I'm also not sure that they're made to-order anymore, since I received my order in wayyyy less time than I used to (my very first order a few years ago took about 2 months to arrive, and my most recent order only took like 2 weeks after placing the order to arrive at my door.

Could use some improvements

I love holyclothing items just wish they used a better method for embroidery its such an itchy material and turns me away from some styles due to sensory issues but im lucky to still have options that look good and work for my ideas
Another complaint is i wish colors didn’t rotate makes it hard to find the color i need and wish the colors didnt bleed when you wash them for first time buyers it can ruin clothes if your not aware

Order twice! Impressed twice!

Order twice now and truly the clothes are great! I love the style and the material feels good. They have shipped quicker than they said on both orders. Can't wait for next renfair season to show off the new outfits!!!

Excellent quality, service, and value

I've got three dresses and a cloak from Holy clothing and I love them all. One was even my wedding dress! My first order I'd sized up thinking I needed it and it was too big. I contacted them and they helped me exchange the one is gotten AND were able to curve the size on the others before they shipped. I ever up returning one of them (I'd gotten one in two colors) and the process was super easy. When I've talked to customer service they were kind, helpful, and patient.

And can we talk about how AMAZING the clothing is?! These are pieces that will LAST. They're exceptionally made and still machine washable. I absolutely love the feel of them and an so glad that I finally purchased after oggling for so long. Far more bang for my buck than other places and they're an outstanding company that sounds with my values. 10/10 definitely going to be getting more things from them

Good quality material and construction

My order came earlier than I expected and I have NEVER had clothing ordered online fit so perfectly. The material is a light cotton linen but still nice quality! The construction is also strong and does not look sloppy. I'm so excited to have this as my new go-to for Renn Faires

Beautiful Clothes

I've ordered many pieces from Holy Clothing over the years. Everything is always beautiful and arrives surprisingly quicky. Now, I shop from their back catalog when it's available. These clothes are a staple of my work wardrobe. Returns are easy.

slow fashion

I've ordered from Holy clothing three times now, and I'm happy with my dresses and skirts. I always get compliments when I wear them out, too. The material feels like natural linens, not the cheap fast fashion polyester I've received from other shops. Most of their items are made to order and hand dyed. Only once have I had a concern about the colour of an item not being as expected, and customer service was really helpful with arranging a replacement.

Gone down hill in recent years

Have been a customer for about 15 years now, and it is not the company it used to be. Once it was a great company that did a wide selection renaissance, gothic and boho clothing for an inclusive size range of women.

Their recent emails asking for people to review them in return for entry into a prize draw which has 3 prizes totalling $600 seems to be a way for them to bolster their good rating at the expense of honest reviews. Due to this, i have decided to post my review, which is honest, but does cover years of being a customer with them, not just a single purchase.

Most of their styles now are for special events, nothing that could be worn every day, which is extremely disappointing. Lot of their clothes now has chemise that are worn underneath which is okay for fancy dress and fairs etc, but not for every day wear.

Their clothes sizes are hit an miss. In one style the size fits perfectly, the same size in a different style - not going to work.

Everything is made to order, unless they are doing a special drop/clearance, so it takes around 8 weeks to get anything. You have no idea where they are at in the process of making your clothing, during that 8 week wait, and if you need to cancel during that time, they will only provide store credit as they are already "making it" even though that have not notified you were they are at in their process.

All clothing is apparently hand dyed in small batches, so no two items even if the same colourway are guaranteed to be identical, so colour mismatch can be an issue. Customer service do not seem to be bothered about colour consistency issues. The colours also run every time they are washed. If you want the colour to remain stable, you end up paying to have the items dry cleaned instead of doing it yourself.

Have seem issues with seams coming apart, sometimes on a brand new dress before you even try it on.

They make everything in India and ship from there, but if you need to return, it goes to the USA incurring high postage fees.

I also suspect them of mail fraud. On one delivery a few years ago, the items got held up in customs. 2 dresses i had paid about $180 for, the customs team wanted to know how much i had paid, as the export waiver said the cost of the items was about £30. I contacted customer service, after some back and forth, i got a refund as i refused to pay for their admin error, and customs destroyed the dresses as holyclothing didn't pay to have them returned to them either.

Their clothing is also extremely expensive. A single dress can cost $120 to be made for you in a particular colour and size. Give it a month or two, and all of a sudden there is a special drop that allows you to have the same item and colour at half the price.

Having shared all the negatives, i do have to say that some of their older and retired styles were absolutely fantastic to wear, you felt great in them and you were expressing who you were. I have not found another company that offers that same style range. The colour choice is usually good, going from pastels to the darker more gothic colours. But not all styles are available in all colours, all of the time.

My wishes for Holy clothing:
1) Improve customer updates on orders - tell us when you start making something.
2) Improve quality in dying and in making the clothes.
3) As everything is made to order, why can you not keep your older styles that people loved and still want?
4) Better pricing, $120 for a dress is a lot of money to spend, In the UK i can get a dress for $50 less than that which is still made to order.

Ultimately, they have gone from a trusted and loved clothing company to one that i a reluctant to buy from.

Happy Aussie!

I'm in Australia so buying from overseas is a risk. Never had an issue with this company though. Wait time is reasonable, sizing accurate, colour range beautiful and everything I have bought same as photos. Quality cotton and stitching also excellent. Great that it is also an ethical business and workers are paid properly.

I love this clothing brand

I love this clothing brand, the clothes are fun, great quality, innovative. Perfect for wearing to a Ren Faire or event. Comfortable and versatile. There are multiple colors and designs to choose from, including some geared toward the masculine. The internet community that evolved around wearing these clothes is supportive and friendly, as well.
