Excellent Service!

Excellent Service! Very friendly, responsive and accommodating! I was having trouble reserving a block through the hotel directly and Skipper stepped in and obtained a rate and booked in one day. Very quick turnaround time!

Concierge almost totally unresponsive

My concierge kept disappearing and when he was available he gave me offers that didn't cover any of my needs including one for a hotel that had apparently bed bugs according to the reviews. I got one offer I liked and asked for updates to the contract--he never got them, luckily I finally reached out to the hotel myself because he let the agreement expire sans updates. I'm only annoyed Skipper gets credit on the contracts as I feel I did the bulk of the work myself. You're better off booking hotel room blocks through another service!

Hi Lisa,

I am so sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your experience! I investigated the history on your account to see exactly what happened. You requested the changes to the agreement on the evening of 4/3. The following day, your booking advisor called the hotel twice to speak with the sales manager handling your block. A series of emails were exchanged until all of the issues were resolved. The last email in the thread is from your booking advisor to the hotel, asking if he can upload the agreement for you with the discussed clauses removed. Having not heard from the hotel, he planned to call this morning until he saw your message.

I spoke with your booking advisor and let him know that the client should be notified of any delays in hotel response time. Had you been updated or copied on the email exchange then everyone would have been on the same page! I completely understand your anger given the experience you had! I sincerely apologize for these communication gaps, and I can assure you they won't happen again. Please let us know if there is anything we can assist you with moving forward!

This site is incredible.

The site is so easy and straight forward, it made the daunting task of finding two hotels to accommodate my wedding guests super easy. The only feature I wish the site offer, was a map view of my hotel options. I spent a lot of time flipping between one screen with Skipper up and the other with google maps, figuring out which hotels were close to each other. But when it came to interacting with my rep and selecting new hotel options, it was so easy. This company has taken the time to think about every question a customer would have on the proposals the hotels offer, and have made an easy few click pre-written word prompt, to help you get the edits and adjustments to the proposal you might want.

Trusting this website nearly ruined my wedding …

This website nearly ruined my wedding because I trusted them. The website said that an offer of 20 rooms expired in 5 days. I answered within that time frame, and then the hotel tells me that they sold half my rooms. They pointed at Skipper, saying that they were unable to reach anyone or find a way of getting in touch with me. Skipper suggested that I didn't respond quickly enough, though nothing about the messaging within the process indicated that.

Here is how this played:

Skipper: Enter your desired dates and numbers.
Me: Wait
Skipper: Here are some offers. You have five days to accept.
Me: 3 days later, accept the Holiday Inn offer
Skipper: Great, they are drafting the agreement! (btw, nothing is final until you sign the final offer)
Me: thinking.. alright, I assume they need to get in touch with me.. ask about pets and so forth to figure out their "final offer" No indication or feeling that they might withdraw the offer they have accepted.
(apparently this is when Holiday Inn sold half of my rooms)
Me: waiting... 5 days go by and I get nervous.
Me: I independently call Holiday Inn and they tell me that they have sold half my rooms.
Skipper: haha oh yeah, that happens sometimes! You should take it
Me: ... panic attack

I don't know if I have any kind of recourse at this point. I'm left in a very bad place, scrambling to take care of the people I love most in my life attending my most important life event over a busy holiday weekend. I am reaching out to all of my connections at this point to find alternative lodging for my loved ones, but I have no intention of working with either Skipper or this particular hotel for my event. I would sooner carpet my house with air mattresses.

The messaging of the website was quite misleading. It was absolutely never clear that this might be a possible result, especially after an offer is accepted. Frankly, I would never have depended on Skipper in the first place if I had realized that the offers are entirely meaningless and nonbinding. I hope this review saves one other person from the situation I'm now in.

Re: Skipper's response
While I certainly appreciate that there is an apology from Skipper.. I have to say it doesn't really change the situation or the course of events. Even if an event is rare, if it's possible at all, it's the responsibility of the business to convey that to the customer _during the process_. The hotel certainly also owns a fair amount of the blame here. They should have held onto my rooms for the entire period that they designated as their expiration time for the offer.
None of this changes my review, I have to say. (I didn't respond to the email for that reason... there was simply nothing else to be said). By trusting this third party website, my event was nearly ruined. I have learned my lesson to always work directly with the vendors that I need, and I hope that others take my tale as cautionary and do the same. Even if you get an accepted offer from Skipper, you MUST reach out to the hotel and confirm independently because the process does have holes in it which are not made clear in Skipper's process.
Perhaps Skipper will respond to this with more than an apology, and they will additionally provide a prompt/suggestion within their interface to prevent this from happening to their customers in the future. I personally hope so, since the stakes are so high.

Hi Whitney,

I reached out to you via email on the day that you posted your review to thoroughly explain the timeline of events. I haven't heard back so I will respond here as well.

I am so sorry that the hotel inventory changed before they were able to draft your wedding room block agreement. I investigated the situation and spoke with the hotel and your booking advisor. Our automated system notified the hotel that you accepted their offer immediately. We have no record of the hotel contacting us until they reached out to notify us that fewer rooms were available.

While it is true that hotels do not hold rooms until an agreement is signed, it is very rare for a hotel to sell out while a group is waiting on an agreement. With your wedding being only a couple of months out, and over a holiday weekend, you unfortunately had a higher risk of rapid inventory changes.

We truly appreciate your feedback, and apologize for any misunderstandings or confusion. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance in anyway!

Easy and stress-free!

This was the most stress-free way of getting blocks of hotel rooms between multiple hotels! Going the old way of calling hotels was a hassle, but having a service do so for you is amazing!
