While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

⚠️ Warning: False Damage Claim

Date & time of return: March 12, 2026 — 07:15

We did not cause any damage, we did not accept responsibility for any damage, and we absolutely waited for a signal from the employee before leaving.

At 07:15 we returned our rental car. The employee took the keys and turned back to his desk. We asked “all ok?” and he replied “all ok!” We said “ok, bye” and he said “bye” back. No inspection was done and no damage or issue was mentioned.

Later we received a damage report stating that we “did not wait” and that we accepted responsibility for damage, which is not correct.

Interestingly, about 20 minutes later we already received an email claiming damage. Apparently in those 20 minutes they were able to determine that the damage was not already there and also calculate the exact cost.

They are now charging:
- Damage charge: €94.00 (a made-up scratch on the wing mirror casing)
- Damage admin fee: €50.00

The €50 admin fee for a made-up €94 scratch is quite surprising.

It’s a shame, because the rest of our rental experience was good. But ending the rental this way changes our rating from 5 stars to 1 star.

Dealing with this afterwards also costs time and energy at the end of our vacation.
