Very disappointed
We have used Hertz many times but let down badly on our recent trip. We were flying into Agadir airport and the following day flying out to Fez so booked a car for 1 day only however, when we arrived, the booking had been cancelled. They stated it was cancelled by the customer however this was not true. We spent a lot of money on our mobile phones calling the UK agent who confirmed this was still a live reservation. Hertz would not give us any documents confirming cancellation and said they had no other vehicles. We believe they cancelled this as they are not interested in 1 day rentals however if that is the case, they shouldn't give the option of booking for 1 day. We have complained to Hertz but have yet to receive their response. Whilst it is not a large sum of money it was the inconvenience as we only had 24 hours in Agadir and in the end we had to pay for taxis as we couldn't get another rental for 1 day. We have never had a problem with Hertz in the past but now we will think twice about using them again.
Great experience, thank you Hassan!
We picked up a car from Thrifty/Hertz at Marrakech City. Hassan was very helpful and great to work with. He provided us with many good recommendations for sightseeing in the Marrakech area and was very kind. We had a small dent upon return and the car was dusty on the outside, despite administration fee (500 MAD) was handled well. We had a great experience and would recommend!
Arrogant manager called Mounir
I recently rented a 7-seater vehicle in Agadir, Morocco, through Dollar Car Rental, booked via the Auto Europe website. Prior to pickup, my documents clearly stated that the deposit credit card block would be 21,600 MAD. However, upon arrival, the desk agent, Mounir, insisted on a 36,000 MAD deposit, despite the documentation. His demeanor was arrogant, and he refused to release the car under the agreed terms.
After contacting Auto Europe, Mounir argued with them over the phone. Eventually, to reduce the deposit, he imposed an additional €80 fee, which Auto Europe agreed to refund. This ordeal resulted in over two hours of wasted time due to Mounir’s inability to adhere to the contract terms.
While Auto Europe handled the situation professionally, the experience with Dollar Car Rental in Agadir was frustrating and time-consuming. I would caution future renters to be prepared for potential discrepancies and to ensure all terms are honored as per the booking agreement.

47 days and no deposit returned!! No contact from emails or calls
Dear Hertz Team,
I rented a car from Hertz Marrakesh Airport from 28/10/2024 to 02/11/2024. During the rental, we experienced a flat tire and, as there was no spare provided, the car had to be collected by Hertz emergency service. This resulted in the loss of two rental days.
When I retrieved the car, I was mistakenly charged a second hire deposit. Additionally, two bars of fuel were missing, and I incurred taxi costs to reach the car from my accommodation. I was also informed of a 500 processing fee.
It has now been over 47 days, and I am increasingly concerned about the unresolved deposit refund. Please advise on the status and confirm the resolution of this issue promptly. No replies to my emails of phone calls so here I am trying to find anyone that can help.

Hertz Marrakech Menara Airport
The process of renting a car in a different country is always stressful. We were initially worried after reading about other people's bad experiences. However, it turned out to be very pleasant for us, and we didn't encounter any of the common issues that people complained about in their reviews.
The paperwork was in French, but the staff treated us in English and explained everything clearly. During the check-in, the staff marked all the car defects and there were no issues during the check-out. My deposit was refunded to my credit card a couple of days after returning the car.
My advice is to be thorough and read about other people's experiences to know what to expect and how to manage the situation. It's worth paying a bit more for peace of mind and getting full-cover insurance. In the worst-case scenario, you'd only lose £300 instead of £800.
It's important to note that the paperwork does require you to return the car clean (despite some people claiming otherwise). Check the small print at the back of the contract. The staff also pointed this out. You can go to a gas station and pay for a car wash, which costs 30Dh, less than £7.
Ultimately, it's a matter of how much risk you're willing to take for the sake of saving a bit of money.

Beware of these professional scammers
Beware of these professional scammers. They charged my friend $400 for a scratch that was already on the car when we rented it. These scratches were small enough to go unnoticed in the initial pictures we took

Rented for 10 days…. The guys have n the kiosk were very polite and professional… our car was in great condition and overall a great experience
You need to return the cat clean… DO NOT USE the car wash at Ménara Mall, it is a scam and they charged 50 Euro to clean the car… this is a disgrace

We had an unfavorable experience with…
We had an unfavorable experience with HERTZ / THRIFTY car rental at Agadir airport.
On the day we were returning the car, we encountered the complete absence of HERTZ staff, which led us to follow telephonic instructions and leave the car in the airport parking lot.
Our shock increased upon receiving a report that stated there was a minor scratch on the car, something we have no recollection of. Without any witnesses during the car handover, how can we ensure that this alleged damage didn't occur after we left?
To make matters worse, more than 4000 dhs were deducted from our security deposit. This was particularly outrageous given that the vehicle already had various signs of wear. This leads us to suspect the agency has a tendency to overcharge for repairs at the clients' expense. We believe that the cost to repair such a scratch should not exceed 500 dhs.
We find this type of business conduct unacceptable and suspect serious mismanagement regarding the security deposits. We strongly recommend seeking other more reliable and honest service providers.

Never again
I normally write no reviews. However, for the benefit of future renters, I would like to warn people to stay away from Hertz/dollar in Morocco: 1. We had a flat tire, but it took more than 6 hours to get a roadside service. 2. They took us around multiple cities to find a repair shop that they liked. It was too far and too late that I had to book another hotel for my family to avoid midnight driving to our original hotel, six hours away in Meknes. 3. They sold me full insurance but they did not honor it and return my deposit. Their excuse was I had a flat tire, which the insurance that they sold to me was supposed to cover. Obviously, they lied to me when they sold me the insurance. I have seen many similar reviews online which I regrettably did not read before falling into this scam.
Morrocco is a very diverse and mystifying country. Our family loved everything. We will definitely return there again.
I posted this review on January 2, 2024. They are replying to me on March 7, 2025, more a year later. I wrote to the email that they provided many many times. They always denied any fault and never returned my deposit. IT IS A TOTAL SCAM. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. FOR ME, IT IS STILL NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Worst car rental experience ever
I sent a message to their ( drop-off location ) and they confirmed it's okay to come an hour late and they gave me till 1pm and I returned it 12:30, as they know it was a rush hour in Casablanca because the king was there! Sorry, again no one told me about any extra charges, if had known that, I would kept the car for the day. They charged me another 135$ on the quoted price for 80$!!!!

Their changing policy is not especially generous
Their rebooking/changing policy is not as generous as they claim. Two weeks before our arrival in Marrakesh I wanted to make our booking two days shorter and was told that it’s fine but the price will be the same as before (four days in total).

Buyer Beware: They will charge you £3000 on your credit card even if car damage is not your fault
I rented the car and on same day I parked car. Some one else reversed onto the parked rental car causing damage. I got formal incident report to state I am not at fault hence other person should be paying for damage, but despite this, Hertz charged my £3000 on my credit card.
- If the car damaged was my fault sure, I accept. But as the car damage is not my fault, this behaviour of charging £3000 for damage that I have evidence is caused by another person is not acceptable
- I have emailed customer.service.starc at gbh.fr to try and resolve this matter but they unfortunately did not resolve this matter for me at all. Robbers I say.

Very thorough.
I would most definitely rent from them again, but directly and not through a 3rd party.
The gentleman serving me spoke French and English, useful when I got stuck on my French.
Great car and they noted down all dents and scratches before hand.
All the staff members were great

Disappointing
I rented a car from Essaouira airport from Dollar. The worker who attended me for pick up and return was great and professional, however, the car was damaged and a month later, Hertz still have my deposit (you've probably already read that they usually ask for a hefty amount!) and they haven't told me how much they are going to charge me for the damage, delaying my application to my insurer.
I'm certain they wouldn't wait a month to get their car back on the road and, in the meantime, I'm left with a big hole in my account and lots of uncertainty.
What's most disgusting, is that they are adding to Morocco's bad reputation of ripping tourists off. Think twice before using their services!

Smooth and thorough experience
We arrived at agadir airport very tired and were worried about renting a car in a new country but Hertz were easy to deal with. Only 2 negatives: They make you wash the car before returning it and we had to annoyingly pay for a 'refundable' deposit of €1,750 euros but this apparently is their policy if booking the car through 3rd party website. They were thorough with checks before hand, noting all scratches the car had - so that when we returned the car they had previous records of the damage that wasn't done by us. Would use them again despite the large deposit.

The Hertz guys in Agadir Airport were awesome
The Hertz guys in Agadir Airport were awesome. So welcoming and friendly. Very very helpful and great with the kids too. In terms of value, I think it cost me €280 for a decent sized car for 10 days. Incredible value. I would most definitely use these guys again.

Hertz-Maroc-Casablanca are Dishonest!
It's been almost a year now and my security deposit of 16800 MAD is still being withheld by these scammers because of two 1/4 inch scratches. I did not look for tiny scratches when I picked up the rental car because it's common practice that car rental agencies dismiss dents and scratches smaller than one inch. To justify keeping my deposit, this dishonest Hertz franchisee sent a report to my credit card provider stating I made SEVERE DAMAGE to the vehicle. Fortunately, my wife took a video of the vehicle on their lot when we returned it to Hertz. I sent all documents and the video to Hertz International Customer Relations to investigate these scammers.
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DEPOSIT WITH Hertz-Maroc.
