THISIS A MAJOR SCAM

THISIS A MAJOR SCAM, AVOID IT AT ANY COSTS. I am a frequent traveller, also Hungarian, so not new to the country or to car rentals. I chose Hertz because years ago I was their returning costumer and they seemed to be a trustworthy provider. Nothing stayed from this attitude! I rented a car which had a number of damages, so I took several pictures, videos, even asked their staff to check the car with me to make sure nothing is overlooked with the handover. I returned the car a few days later when the staff inspecting it referred to alleged damages (I could not even see them) BELOW the car, and INSIDE the car, next to the back seats. The back seats were not used at all, it is physical impossibility to have caused any damage there and all along I handled the car with extremely great care. The staff said he will mark what he assumes to see, but I may not be charged for anything. A few minutes later I received a bill for 538 (!) euros (magically, the same amount as previous commenters in Google say). It does look like they have a standard amount they try to scam out of people. It is absolutely outrageous such a scam is allowed to operate at Budapest Airport. Avoid it any costs.

This is a reckless company, stay away from them

This is a reckless company! Avoid it, never rent from them. For 24hrs rental they charged Out of Hours Chg 35EU + 199EU + for 10liter gas refill 72EU It cost me 359EU' I picked up the car @2AM and it was expected to return by 8PM on the same day!
Average gas price in Hungary Hungary, 1.467EU/L, and I was charged 7.2/L! Nobody inspected the car upon return, but I was charged for 488,10 € for damage

Avoid they will charge your card extra…

Avoid Hertz at Budapest Airport they will charge your card extra after holiday! When we returned the car they said all was fine. When they cleaned it they sent a photo of a hairline scratch and charged my card extra after £430! I go to Hungary twice a year and always rent a car and never experienced such a bad customer service. They were rude and can just take any amount of money out of your account and you can’t do anything about it! Avoid!

I have many times rented a car from Hertz at Budapest Airport over the past few years and have always had great service and nice cars.
This time however, on returning the car, Hertz have billed me 438 euro for a tiny scratch on the rear bumper which I did not cause.
When I collected the car, it was completly dark and there was no way that this scratch would have been noticed. 6 days after returning the car they have sent an email informing me of this charge.
Appauling service.

Avoid, make fraudulent damaged hire claims

We used the services of Rentalcars.com as our broker, and the rental process itself was straightforward. However, our experience with customer service at Hungary Airport was extremely disappointing. Upon our arrival at the rental desk, despite our request for a staff member to inspect the vehicle with us, our car was never checked. We were simply asked to leave the keys behind.

To our dismay, approximately 5 hours later, we received a bill alleging damage to the windscreen and a scratch on the plastic part in the boot. This was despite the fact that we had returned the car in impeccable condition and had even taken photographs as evidence. The claim of damage appeared to be baseless and fraudulent.

When we raised a complaint, the response from customer service was wholly inadequate and lacking. This entire experience has been incredibly unsatisfactory, and as a result, we have decided never to use the services of this company again.
