Central heating system

I started with a perfect working central heating system, but the boiler and radiators were old. So we decided to replace the boiler and fit new radiators. The system does not work correctly now. Radiators hot at top and cold at bottom, we are pensioners in our 70s, we need a working central heating system. HeatAyr want us to pay more money to try and fix the problem. I’m not willing to pay again for something I’ve already paid for. I will now have to pay some other company to fix the problems that my central heating system has now got.

We’re disappointed by this review and feel it’s important to clarify the facts.
As discussed at length on the phone and in person, we were instructed to replace the boiler and radiators only. The existing pipework was left in place by agreement, as it was believed to be serviceable at the time. After installation, circulation issues became apparent, which were traced back to the original pipework — not the boiler or the radiators we supplied and fitted.

Despite this being outside the agreed scope of works, we spent a significant amount of additional time and money on site at no cost to the customer. This included flushing the system with a stronger chemical and cutting out sections of pipework in an effort to improve performance. Unfortunately, these remedial steps could not fully resolve the issue because the underlying pipework faults remain.

Before carrying out any further work, we clearly explained that additional pipework remedial works would be required and that these would be chargeable. This was discussed and agreed. We cannot reasonably be expected to undertake extensive extra work free of charge to rectify pre-existing issues.

It’s also important to note that we were put under pressure to carry out further work without payment, with the suggestion that negative reviews would follow if we did not. We always aim to act fairly and professionally, but we cannot agree to terms that are unreasonable.

We fully understand how important a reliable heating system is and made every effort to assist well beyond our contractual obligations. We remain willing to help further should the customer wish to proceed with the necessary remedial works under a new agreement.
