After many years of using HealthEquity…

After many years of using HealthEquity seamlessly, this year has started out awful. I am having reimbursements denied that are the same claims and documentation that I use every year, same provider and same receipt format. This is my money that I pay into the account, when I submit reimbursements following all of the instructions they should be paid timely without a month long conversation. Every claim for reimbursement that has been submitted so far this year has required me to contact them in order to have it resolved.

After years of frustration

After years of frustration, I finally switched my HSA to Lively. HealthEquity worst website, protracted processes to do anything. For instance, attempted to transfer money from my HSA to my bank account and not only did they not transfer the money - they put a "fraud alert" on my account and froze it. They did not notify me so when I went to pay for medical care - card declined. This is just one instance of their ridiculous business practices. Again, worst HSA ever!!!

Worst Service Imaginable

Horrible. I don't know how the BBB is giving this company an A+ rating. I didn't get my new card until mid-February after multiple calls. Attaching statements to expenses is like trying to find a needle in a haystack and there is absolutely no way to do this from their useless app. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT pay for healthcare services online. These payments go through a third party service, doubling the time it takes to reach the provider. It's almost as if they make it as frustrating as possible so that you give up so they can take the unused portion of what you put into it. I've had FSA's for years and never had any issues until now. I'd rather pay taxes on my medical costs than go through the stress of having to get my expenses paid by HE.

Absolutely terrible business

Absolutely terrible business. Do not use them. These things are just from October through February:

Took 3 attempts and over 2 months to get reimbursed because they were having EFT issues. I ended up having to pay for a check the 3rd time after they canceled it twice because their system failed.

All of my transactions including $4 prescriptions have been declined in 2025 even though I have hundreds in there.

Now TMJ has been declined as non-coverable on top of everything else.

Absolutely HATE them. Do not use them. I only have it because of my work but I will be canceling it and moving mine elsewhere to a credit union or bank. They are that bad.

I've been calling Health Equity since…

I've been calling Health Equity since January 2nd because I haven’t received my FSA card. When I first contacted them, a representative mentioned there were system issues and that the card would arrive soon, as they were just starting to send them out to clients.

Two weeks later, I still hadn’t received the card. I called again and was told, "Oh, it must have gotten lost." They canceled my previous request and placed a new one, asking me to wait 15 days for delivery.

At the end of January, with no card in hand, I called again. I was told the same thing: "It must have gotten lost," and they put in another request, with the same 15-day wait time.

By mid-February, I still hadn’t received anything. When I called once more, the response was, “Oh, it must have gotten lost again.” I told the representative that this was the third or fourth time I’d heard this, and that we live in a city and have never had issues with mail delivery. The person I spoke with said he figured out the problem, manually submitted a new request for a card, and promised I would definitely receive it this time. That call was on February 17th.

Now, on March 1st, I still haven’t received my FSA card. My account shows that the last request was made on January 27th. I called again and was told that a new request was placed on February 27th, and I should wait 15 days for delivery. I reminded them that my request was made on February 17th, and I was expecting it to be processed then. I asked to speak with a manager.

According to the manager, the card was shipped on February 28th, but there was no tracking number available. The manager assured me the card was on its way.

I have requested a few times, please send the card via Fed Ex or USPS priority mail so they can track the card, considering this special circumstance. They said this is something they do not do. I must wait the 15 days to see if I received the card, and if I don't, I need to call back. Each call takes about 45 minutes and nothing ever gets resolved.

They don’t even deserve the 1 star…

I’m annoyed that I even have to give them a whole star. They keep denying a transaction I made citing they need documents for it. It’s a transaction I made AT the dr’s office. I keep supplying the documentation they ask for and they keep denying it stating that they need the documentation which I keep sending. I called to ask questions and they said they need a more detailed document so I provided the exact details they asked for and they still reject it saying they need the documentation.

Horrible organization

Horrible organization. I have paid for 4 medical bills this year with my HSA and they have questioned each one even though they literally say Allina Health a multi million dollar healthcare organization on the statement. I should be able to pay my medical expenses without being questioned and taking up hours of extra time when I am a busy mom and have very straight forward things I have expensed to my account.

Hope Health equity go out of business

Have FSA with Health equity. Paid my bills in October 2024 via healthequty.com. 3 months later got the same bills from that clinic which I had to pay immediatly by my credit card. Since then I've tried to get a refund from Health equity. Contacted them multiple times by countless phone calls, text messages with no results. They lied to me it's refunded, it's still not. They lied they will email me with an updates, they never did. I want to escalate it to upper level, they refuse to provide me with any contact information. They promised their manager will call me, never did. They refuse to take any complaints. Nobody counts responsible. Hope they go out of businees. Too bad there is no negative stars, because they don't deseve even one

Ridiculous HSA fees when not contributing

1. Do not keep an HSA account with Health Equity if you are not contributing funds to it. They charge $4 a month to do literally nothing, and $25 to close it. Closing it takes 60 days. I was keeping it in case of emergency, until I found out they were taking fees when it only earns pennies each month. I'm out 14% of what I had in there because of fees in 2 months plus 2 months for them to close it.
2. I've dealt with them for many years and have not been impressed. Different employees process claims different ways, and some don't know what they are talking about.
3. The card they give you automatically takes from the FSA or HRA, so don't use it if you want it to come out of the HSA. I haven't found where it works with DCA.
4. They screw up the DCA reimbursement all the time, so they prefer you to fill out a form and have it signed, which is annoying. And sometimes they don't reimburse the required transaction fee that I send screen shots of (that have been reimbursed before).
5. They make you provide dental receipts for everything.
6. Their list of qualified items for each type of account is not accurate to your individual account(s).

Speak directly with Health Equity.

Conduent are super nice people subcontracted to Health Equity for a single purpose. To stall the process.

If you want to speak with the company who can actually address your issue then you need to ask to speak with a supervisor or case manager at Health Equity. Not Conduent.

Conduent is only able to be a conduit for information. Hence their firm’s name.

Easiest FSA card ever

I had an active FSA card with health equity from 2019 to 2024. I was never requested to submit receipts or additional paperwork for any FSA charges. I contributed the maximum amount each year and I spent the maximum amount each year. I used my FSA card at my general practitioners office specialist office, x-ray MRI offices and pharmacy purchases. I also used my funds to get glasses for the entire family and pay for dentist appointments. Never had any issues never had any complications. It was absolutely perfect. I used to work for an FSA card holder competitor that required a lot of receipts. Health equity did not require any receipt receipts at all. I actually use the FSA card to pay for a Dr visit to get CBD green card once in 2021 and was never asked for receipts and it paid it in full. The receipt requirements may have changed since then.

Fees

Fees, Fees, Fees. Any benefit you think you will get with your taxes will be lost with fees. I only put in $125 to open my account. Obviously, I didn't see the fee schedule. I haven't used $1 dollar on medical expenses, but my balance is $81. This is over one year. 40% of my balance is gone due to fees. And when you close your account there is one more $25 fee.

3 to 5 Business days is actually 10.

Submitted a claim for dependant care refund. After 4 business days of not receiving it I asked multiple times when I would receive it. All of their reps told me "3 to 5 business days." After not receiving it at business day 7, I asked again. I am now told that the "funding cycle" is not complete. I had to ask how long a funding cycle is, and they told me 10 business days. So refunds actually take 10 business days apparently. The other company I used before Health Equity had everything process on the 4th business day.

Health Equity hires Conduent to work…

Health Equity hires Conduent to work for them, there is Ms Carr who passes the rules. Women and age are no value. Only men have value. The women are told and treated without value, respect or understanding. Only men are of value and consideration. Explaining to men is required, not to women. It is terrible to rush women off the phone, giving no attention or concern for their needs or request per orders from Ms Carr. Only men can get explanations

Deceptive and Probably Illegal

Horrendous. They suspended my card, and will not release funds until I submit documentation for a hospital visit. The problem is the charge date does not match the service date, as the doctor charge goes through a day after the visit. They won't accept that. So I cannot access my card, with money that is mine from my paycheck. They claim that they IRS requires them to shut down my access to my money, but I am pretty certain the IRS is not interested in what medical service I received at the hospital with my funds. They know all information but what medical care I received. My insurer knows and approved. Shouldn't that be sufficient?

So many issues

In the last week I've had my hsa card declined for insufficient funds ($40 purchase with over $1k in account), I've had two contributions appear and then get removed (money in account and then gone), and now it won't work on any purchases, and the company said these purchases need approval (eye exam and glasses). That was a week ago, still cannot use card.

Complete garbage company

Complete garbage company. They are incompetent and inept. They cannot even read nor understand simple receipts for FSA remburisment. They simply deny the claim saying the paper work is incomplete. Then after 2 or 3 phone calls complaining to them, suddenly the original paper work is just fine. They are a joke and completely incapable. Avoid them at all costs

**updated*#6 not a nice one, i'm tired of the professional route. its not working

no more nice guy, worst company I have ever dealt with. customer service is the worst and when tired they just hang up on you. generic excuses and no resolve for issues and no management or anyone to talk to . can't email or anything but sit on hold for 1/2 hour or longer just to have them give you generic
answers with no resolve and disconnect on you. I will make it my # 1 priority to get away from this company even if i have to seek council or an attorney. use a bank account if possible.
