I've heard a lot about headspace and it sponsoring certain youtubers etc, so when my work offered a free membership, I signed up. The meditations were all very strange, not particularly relaxing or me... See more

Paywalling mental health assistance is…
Paywalling mental health assistance is stupid.
Poor content and delivery
App is unreliable, regular problems with starting the app and searching within the app. The programmes are very repetitive, there is little difference in the content regardless of what the subject is supposed to be. Most of the instructors have annoying accents or talk with a patronising or irritating tone that does nothing to help my wellbeing. Had really expected to get more from this service for the money
Locked Out, Charged Anyway, No Refund — Even After Apple Said Go to Them
I have been a customer for 7 years. But even though I already had a subscription, Headspace charged me $69.99 for another subscription — and then immediately locked me out of the app due to a technical issue on their end.
I contacted support, who admitted the problem and told me to request a refund through Apple. I followed all instructions, but Apple denied it.
Worse? This exact same thing happened one month earlier, and Apple did refund me.
When I asked Headspace to help, they shrugged and hid behind Apple’s billing system. Apple support even told me, “Any other developer would’ve refunded this themselves.”
So now I’m out $69.99 for a service I couldn’t even use — not once, but twice. Headspace has no control over their billing process and takes no responsibility when their app malfunctions.
Extremely disappointing for a company that markets itself as calm, ethical, and helpful.
Love this app so much
I have dipped in and out of this app many times, over the years. It has helped my mental health so much.
I always keep an eye on renewal dates, and cancel in advance - you still get to use the app until the renewal date, even if you’ve cancelled in advance. Unlike the negative reviewers, I’ve never had any issue with cancelling. I subscribe via apple, and I always cancel annual renewals as soon as I’ve signed up. That way I have to make a conscious decision about signing up for another year, when I get the reminder emails.
Fraudulent and deceptive advertising. disrespectful and unethical customer support team
Headspace and its support team is the worst app conpant that I had to deal with
I was shown a "free trial" notification, I clicked on it and was charged right way a yearly subscription! 😄 I wrote the customer support and got a message that they are not responsible for any refunds and I should contact the Apple services. Apple services rejected my refund request and told me to contact Headspace as they are responsible for refunds. Headspace ignored my subsequent messages and said that they are closing my ticket and as a free will gifted me "some free time" (that is how they named it) voucher that I can use after my yearly subscription.
Basically, they do deceptive and unethical false advertising and charge users for the whole year. Unfair and fraudulent business!
it is really ironic that this app should be a "safe space" to help people destress. Manipulative money makers!
I was a loyal Headspace user for many…
I was a loyal Headspace user for many years before Apple charged me $80 for what I thought was a 1-week free trial. At the time of subscribing, the disclaimer did say it is free, and I would be charged at a later date. I did get charged right away instead. Both companies refused to give me a refund despite contacting them on the same day of it happening. Even though my card was charged for an annual subscription, I will never touch this app ever again.
Used to be amazing now the user…
Used to be amazing now the user experience is rubbish, can’t track my meditation unless individual minutes which is useless for Apple health, they were told about this after the last update but seemingly have ignored it, the whole experience is much worse and unless it improves I won’t be renewing
Return policy is totally rediculous
Return policy is totally rediculous. I canceled the subscription in my iPhone settings but not online. I wrote customer service 30 minutes after the renewal charge hit my card to cancel, asking for a refund and was told I was outside the return window. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I guess if your product is worthless you have to screw people out of their money.
Not syncing and useless support
Wasn't syncing to Google Fit. When I contacted support, I got generic, presumably copy pasted instructions which contained nothing more than what I had already described I had done.
Definitely not worth the money
Fraud. dont let me cancel after 1 day of trying
Dear Headspace Support Team,
I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I’ve received from Headspace. I attempted to try your app briefly and decided not to continue, yet I was charged for a subscription that I DID NOT sign up for, nor did I ever confirm. This is a clear issue of poor customer service, and I am incredibly frustrated with how difficult it has been to cancel this subscription.
I have already made attempts to cancel this via my Google account, but no subscriptions are visible there, and I have received no assistance in resolving this issue.
I demand the following actions be taken immediately:
Cancel my subscription without further delay.
Refund the amount charged to me as I am not using the app.
Delete my account entirely as I no longer wish to be associated with your service.
It is your responsibility as a company to offer effective customer support and protect your reputation. Leaving your customers to resolve issues through third parties like Google is completely unprofessional. I expect this matter to be resolved promptly.
If you are not the right person to handle this request, please escalate it to a colleague or someone in a higher position who can take immediate action.
I expect a response and resolution as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Marie
They won't support you at all trying to…
They won't support you at all trying to get a refund from automatic subscription. Their content isn't worth paying for, nothing you can't get on YouTube for free.
Refund denied
Tried to get a refund when an automatic subscription payment was made, the same day as it was purchased. I had initially recieved a free trial from a friend and little did I know that it would pay me for one year if I was too late to cancel. I explained to Headspace that I haven't even used their app (which they for sure can verify), but they decided to let me down and say that a refund was not possible. This is how they confirm that they don't care about their customers, and this is how they loose my trust and other potential customers that I will share my experince with. I would have been happy if I at least got a refund on 11 months, and only had to pay for the current month. Seems like it's their business model to scam people and hope that users will forget to cancel.
Non existent customer service
I've been using the app for 4 year's and recently I was contacted to say i needed to sign up , even though I was paid up.
I erringly signed up for a new account and neither of them work and despite numerous efforts to get in touch with Headspace the responses range between Dreadful and non-existent
poor interface and meditation quality is underwhelming
I get a “free” subscription through my Vitality insurance policy. As a frequent user of Calm and Peloton meditation I had assumed it would be similar. I’m so disappointed. The app is cluttered with endless scrolling needed to find a meditation topic that fits a time you want (insurance credits 10 mins plus only). The meditations are amateurish and feel very much like being spoken to like a child or someone who doesn’t understand basic instructions. The narrator voices are irritating. I wasn’t surprised by the negative rating but to see the furore & deception customers are feeling around subscription makes me like this app even less. My insurance cost is reduced through earning points and meditating consistently (only through headspace!) is a substantial contributor to those points. As someone who meditated often this was really appealing to me but I am just really underwhelmed and disappointed.
I love Andy and what he does
I love Andy and what he does. Onboarded in meditations few years ago from his Netflix series, 3 years subscriber already.
DEAR FELLOW VICTIMS OF HEADSPACE…
DEAR FELLOW VICTIMS OF HEADSPACE MEDITATION LIMITED, I'm writing a second review here because I would like to advise you about possible steps to prevent further subscription withdrawals from this company of hell:
1. You have the wright to withdraw your consent for the next payments by contacting your bank up to 1 business day of the due date -
Check the citizen bureau advice for that.
2. Please contact the companies house about this fraudulent company, also any consumer organisation for help.
Just trying to get your money
Just trying to get your money! I'll keep it short because i had the same experience as most of the others. No warning... just charged me for another year and refused to refund me. Here was their response 6 days after being billed:
I understand you would like to request a refund. You have definitely reached the right Headspace expert to handle this for you!
Unfortunately, we regret to inform you that we are unable to process a refund for the charge that occurred on Jul 9, 2025, as the cancellation period has ended.
Disingenuous subscription renewal charge
I enjoyed Headspace, particularly for its sleepcasts. The app is well designed, without a ton of jangly advertisements or the kind of content you want to get away from when using a meditation app. However, I was really frosted by their handling of subscription renewal. I attempted to cancel my new year of subscription on the day they charged me the renewal fee, because I learned that my health care provider offers access to the app as part of my paid member benefits. When I asked Headspace to refund the charge they had just levied for the new year of subscription--which was to begin that very day--they refused, saying they can't refund for partially used subscriptions. Are you kidding me? I requested this the very day of renewal. There was no partial use of the new year. This is total BS and exactly the kind of behavior that makes consumers shy away from subscription model pricing. Also, the annual fee is about $95, so it is a lot--especially when I just got laid off. Unfortunately, this kind of negative experience leaves me feeling exploited and overshadows the enjoyment I got from the app. Thanks for bringing more stress, anxiety, and consumer anger into my life, Headspace.
Very Disappointing
Similar to some of the other reviews, my subscription was renewed. I did get a reminder email however, it went to my spam folder. I contacted them and they refused point-blank to give me a refund. I'd totally forgotten about it as I'd stopped using it. I found the CBT and mindfulness stuff pretty useless, most of it is regurgitated from elsewhere, lots of it you can get for free on other websites. My advice, don't waste your money, there are much better, free options which are easy to find.
