Back in 2021, UC

Back in 2021, I asked for help or advice from the HLC, because even though the DWP assesment centre in the letter they awarded me an LCW said that because of the backlog of cases they have (that Covid made worse) to not to contact them, they will contact whoever they need to for a review when it's time, my job coach spent 90% of the mandatory weekly phonecall times, (I remember one that i checked was a 45 minute one), pushing me to ask the DWP a reassesment. I was in pieces. This for months, for nearly a year, in the middle of the pandemic, and every time I told her that this was not the written instruction we were given, and that my state is the same (the thing that slowly broke me apart was her campaign).
I'm a legal immigrant, working and living here since 2010.
So I managed to get myself together enough to look for help, or just advice.
HLC (T.J. and superwisors V.A. & C.P.) told me to "just ask for a reassessment". When I asked why they basically told me to just do it.
I was sent a closing letter in which they turned everything around:
Apparently I couldn't accept that there are "no indefinite awards" the DWP has the right to reassess- I never believed that, my question was why was my job coach pushing me to apply for a reassessment when the DWP letter said not to.
Apparently I also couldn't accept that the DWP can ask for fit-notes - ??? I honestly do not even know where that came from.
"You were advised to make a google search of the same because you are adamant that
this is incorrect and that the advice previously given to you by "welfare benefits
experts" , i.e. your Universal Credit caseworker/adviser and someone at the jobcentre
is correct. " - I literally came to HLC because my UC job coach was ordering me to do something that was against the DWP's instructions. Just what.
There's more, but I need to stop.
Obviously this made my head spin so much I didn't know what was up or down anymore.
My panic attacks took away any strenght I had to even try to answer.
The only reason I write this is that I hope it helps somebody down the line.
You might not be alone in not being sure the world is real.

Ignoring Customers

Ignoring your calls, they say they will return to you but never do.
Perhaps they are taking too many applications, so they cannot fulfil their obligations.
I am very disappointed with their service.

I am very satisfied with the outcomes…

I am very satisfied with the outcomes as well and the dedication and support I received. I had a very good guidance especially towards the last weeks when I needed a lot of support. Would definitely go back to Haringey Law Centre in the future if needed.

SA Review

Myself, my mum and mother in law visited the Haringey law centre recently and I have to say Ruth was amazing. My mum was seeking advice regarding her case and she was extremely helpful and even stayed beyond her finish time. My mum came out feeling very positive! I would highly recommend Haringey Law Centre!
